VERY effective for UTI's in TWO species!!
D-mannose is super effective at getting rid of urinary tract infections, and for PREVENTING them, once you get rid of them. These easy to swallow, clear vegetable capsule, 3/4 inch long X 1/4 inch wide, 500 mg, NO fillers of ANY kind, NO magnesium stearates, Dioxides, NO preservatives, or artificial ingredients, have really helped me AND my dog! The powder inside them is a very fine, white powder. Even though the capsule is easy enough to swallow, I open it up and pour out the contents onto my yogurt and onto my dogs food. This way I don't have to try to try to get my dog to eat a pill!!! I gave these to her, twice a day, in her food. WORKED beautifully to clear up her UTI!! Then i just kept giving them to her as a preventative and the vet tested her, she has been clear ever since!! I used three a day, in yogurts, smoothies, or just popped the pill. I noticed improvement within a day an half, at most. Now, I am using them to prevent a UTI coming back. I, AND the dog has not gotten a UTI again since using d-mannose! http://www.naturafoundation.co.uk/monografie/D-Mannose.html In most cases, about 80 percent, urinary tract infection in adults is caused by a variety of pathogens (infectious bacteria) normally present in the intestines, especially in the rectum (colon). Nearly all infections of the lower urinary tract are caused by a few strains of E. coli bacteria - uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC). Various harmless strains of E. coli are normally present in the body - but they do not belong in the urinary tract. These bacteria have multiple little hairs called cilia that function like little feet that allow them to climb from the skin around the vagina, up the urinary tube, into the bladder. If E. coli get into the bladder or the urethra (tube that carries urine from the bladder), the body has ways of fighting them off - including the obvious methods of simply flushing them out with the urine. These bacteria, however, have evolved ways of anchoring themselves to the cells of the urinary tract. The invading E. coli take advantage of receptors naturally found on the cells of the mucosal lining of the urinary tract. These receptors are like molecular "docking bays" for substances which the cells need for their normal growth and development. Like pirates in an old movie, E. coli use "grappling hooks", called type I pili, to first hook on to these receptors, and then to invade the cell. These pathogenic grappling hooks are composed of long, fibrous chains of a molecular "glue" called adhesin. Once inside the cell, E. coli can live and reproduce in safety, shielded from many of the body's defensive immune responses. In fact, these immune responses are so sophisticated that when the body detects that cells have been infected and activates the cell suicide program to destroy the bacteria, E. coli can actually flee the dying host cell before it is flushed out - and look for new cells to invade! When someone with bladder infection consumes a dose of D-mannose, the sugar is absorbed in the upper GI tract, but at a much slower rate than most other sugars. (For example, glucose is absorbed more than eight times faster.) Moreover, unlike other sugars, D-mannose is not readily converted to glycogen (and stored) in the liver, but instead passes directly into the bloodstream largely unchanged what makes it suitable for diabetics. As the D-mannose-laden blood passes through the kidneys, a considerable proportion of the sugar is extracted and added to the urine. The D-mannose-sweetened urine flows from the kidneys through the ureters to the bladder and on to the urethra, literally sugar-coating any free-floating E. coli it might encounter, so they cannot stick to cells any more. It also unsticks most of the E. coli already "velcro-ed" to the inner surface of the bladder and urinary tract, ultimately flushing them all down the drain.Several years of clinical experience have shown that D-Mannose is just as effective at curing bladder infections caused by E. coli as antibiotic drugs

Reoccurring UTIs banished
I have had issues with reoccurring UTIs since I was 19. 24 years of these things that reliably would show up at 2am in the morning on a Sat. In my youth I could flush out with water and 100% cranberry juice plus a little help from the Azo pain relief to get through that first day. Sometimes the urgency and pain was so terrible I would just go straight to ER. Then it got to the point where I could call my OBGYN to let them know I was having one and they would prescribe Bactrim to which eventually I became sensitive-I would get a cough. Then I was prescribed Macrobid during my 2 Pregnancies. I was sent to a urologist that did a sonogram of my bladder to determine if there was anything that was causing these frequent UTIs. Nothing other than the location of my urethra which made me prone to them and the fact that the inside of my bladder looked like an elderly woman's. I also was then prescribed Macrobid 50mg as a prophylactic after sex (which was usually the instigator for me to get one). In the last year, I started to get an RX of Cipro when the UTI would not go away after the first round of Macrobid didn't work. In the last year I was starting to get a UTI almost one every month and a half. But as I've aged I would get them 2 nights after indulging in alcohol. Even though I'm diligent in drinking at least 64 oz water every day and up it to a min of 80oz of water the following day post drinking alcohol to rehydrate. I was miserable. After my last round of Macrobid, then Cipro and then 3 weeks later another round of Macrobid I decided that was it. No more antibiotics and that was going to be my last round of antibiotics. My doctor said it looked like I'd have to go down the path of taking antibiotics every day to prevent my reoccurring UTIs and that I did not want and had already avoided for years. My hair was falling out I believe as a side effect to the Macrobid. It had been for years and in the last round of Macrobid it was falling out even significantly more and then I read it was a side effect. After the first time I took Cipro my shoulder started to bother me. After the second time my knee started to pain me. After the third time I took Cipro my hip started to bother me. At first I thought it was from my workouts, I box regularly as well as dance Tahitian, but read that joint issues are a side-effect of Cipro. And because of my boxing and dancing, I couldn't afford to have joint issues. I'd already lessened my boxing to 3x/week rotating in spin to avoid the shoulder issue I had, but my dancing was only 2x/week and with performances looming I just couldn't have further issues. So before my RX ran out and would potentially need to take Cipro again, I researched D-Mannose, purchased one bottle of D-Mannose through Amazon prime on Aug 23, 2016. Once I finished my Macrobid RX I started taking D-Mannose on Aug 26th. I still felt twinges of UTI issues and felt very hopeful because like I said, I was through taking antibiotics. I started taking 2 capsules 3x/day for a few days. Those twinges went away. Then I went down to 2 capsules 2x/day for maintenance. When I know I will be indulging in alcohol I make sure I take 2 capsules before bed. Then up my dose to 2 caps/every few hours until I've gotten through the 2 days post drinking. I have not had a UTI since. I started taking 3 weekends ago with 3 weekends of celebrations and parties all involving alcohol. My bladder feels great. I am hopeful that this continued regimen plus the addition of probiotics 2x/day (yogurt not pills for 1 week now) will prevent further occurrences of UTI and subsequent use of antibiotics. I hate taking meds, I don't even take pain killers. The only time I gave free reign was to get over a UTI. I feel freedom from those drugs at last. So long story short, nothing worked to prevent my UTIs for the past 24 years: drinking tons of water, drinking hot lemon water first thing in the morning for the past 13 years, pee-ing before and after sex, cranberry pills, my prophylactic RX of Macrobid. I even started oil-pulling every morning starting in July. But D-Mannose has worked for me for the last 3 weeks. This is the longest I've gone without a UTI this year even with behavior that prior to taking D-mannose would have caused me to have a UTI without a doubt. If you're reading this review then you must be going through similar issues. It works for me and I'd like to come back in a year and say I've been UTI free for a year. It's been at least decade since I went longer than 6 months without one. On a side note I did feel bloated the first week I started taking regularly but that has since gone away.

UTIs? More like UT-no!
I was very skeptical about using this. I have tried many things to help prevent UTI's, to cure them without antibiotics, and many times I have failed. The burning kept coming back. I did everything from drinking Apple Cider vinegar to uva ursi, and nothing worked. (I did the precautions like peeing before and after sex) I've tried D-Mannose before, it was from GMC and had cranberry, and that didn't help. I saw great reviews for this, because once again I had a UTI and went to urgent care to take care of it.I was prescribed Bactrim. (Allergic to penicillin and Macrobid) Once I was off that I started taking D-Mannose. I started taking one in the morning, one in the afternoon, and one at night. I was on it for only a few days when I got another UTI. (Go me) I doubled it, since I read a review on here about someone doing the same thing. (I did not want to go to another urgent care, or wait a few days to see my lady doctor for more antibiotics.) It worked! I was a bit surprised, since everything else I tried never worked. I got my mom a bottle as well since she had her first one when I had one. (Her first compared to my many.) I do not know what Superior Labs did to make these pills work, but I am thankful. It's been a month since I started taking them, and had no issues. (Which is a first, since I get UTI's at least once a month, sometimes twice. It's horrible.) After sexual activity I take two pills, and do so for a day. There has been no issues since taking these pills, and I gave it four stars because I've been on it for a short time. (Part of me is still a bit terrified that it's a temporary relief.) I would highly recommend giving this product a try. For anyone who gets frequent UTI's like I do, tried everything to prevent/cure the painful infection, this is the product you need. It's been a month for me, but a month without a UTI is a relief. (I'll update this review once I've been on it for longer. I just needed to brag how great this product works!)

some factors to consider
I had my first urinary infection when I was 30 and I was cured by taking the antibiotic. Recently, after 40 years, I had another urinary infection, this time mild, but when I took the antibiotic my doctor prescribed (only 2 capsules) I felt so bad I had to stop it immediately. I must say that since 35 years old I have not taken any medicine, even put drops in my eyes and after 50 I started taking supplements to keep my health. So I researched the net and I found this supplement. I liked the fact that D-Mannose, which is a rare saccharide is naturally occurring in some plant and food substances and even produced in the body. It has no toxicity and is not a drug; it is a nutritional food substance. Since it isn't metabolized it doesn't interfere with blood sugar regulation, even for diabetics. It creates no disruption or imbalance in normal body microflora, so one wouldn't be more prone to yeast infections as is often the case after a course of antibiotics (this is why we shouldโt take drugs to treat diseases because the body rejects them by causing side effects). With so many offers on the market it becomes difficult to choose the right supplement, but I chose this one because it does not contain unnecessary additives, there is the right amount of substance and it is manufactured in the USA, some factors that should be considered when we are in doubt about the effectiveness of the supplement. In fact, after taking the supplement for 1 week, after breakfast and dinner, I was free of the symptoms of the infection and I am already sharing this information with my friends and relatives in Brazil and Japan and I am willing to purchase more from this seller, to send them if they need to.
