Does this need an amp to sound good?

Something like a cloudlifter CAN help give you a clean boost, but not needed though.

Is the a good fit for the Rode AI-1, if yes what software compliments it?

I was invited to record a podcast (remotely). What other equipment do I need to use this mic?

To you this microphone you need an XLR cable and an audio interface. A sound board or a Audio recorder like the Zoom PodTrak 4. However, if you do not plan on doing this kind of thing full time or as a normal hobby you could use something like the Audio-Technica ATR2100x-USB Cardioid Dynamic Microphone which has the same price tag but is USB capable and has as good of a sound quality without the mixer as the other. I own both. Started with the Audio technica, moved to the podmic as I grew into a regualr podcaster
