It's a Great WIFI Extender / Repeater. Recommended to Extend WIFI at Hotels or Campgrounds.
It's marketed as Amazon Renewed, as far as I can tell it's new, had the proper documentation and packaging. Unit was dusty outside, I wiped it off and it looks like new. Install was easy, according to the manual. I'm using it in an RV Park that has not great WIFI coverage. I picked this spot which is one of the better ones, but even outside the RV it's intermittend, sometimes 3 MB/s and sometimes 20 MB/s (all downlink speeds), sometimes signal drops to less than two bars and the internet drops out. Inside the RV of course it's worse. I thought perhaps an inexpensive extender placed just outside the RV would help. First I tried a Netgear EX2700, and although it helped some when the signal dropped out it was no faster, usually slower - I was getting from 0.3 MB/s to 2 MB/s, every now and then a burst at 3. I've just installed this TP Link model - install was easy, and the results are amazing. Plugged in to the power pole just next to the RV, dealing with the variable signal strength and bandwidth of the RV Park's system, and here inside the RV I'm getting a stable five bar signal with bandwidth between 10MB/s on the low end up to 50 MB/s at times. I had seen it in a CNET review titled, "The best wifi extender for almost everybody". Thank you CNET! If you are looking for a travel companion to help amplify weak WIFI signals I highly recommend this one.

Do not purchase this as "renewed"
I had high hopes for this product given I have other TP Link devices in my home. However this device was highly problematic. After several attempts of working with tp-link to resolve the issues, they were simply unable to be resolved. To their credit TP like offered a replacement, but I was wary of that given how much effort I had put into trying to get the original extender to work. I had realized subsequently that this was sold as renewed, which I had not understood when I purchased it. So it was probably already a returned product, possibly for the same reasons that I have had problems with it. As I say, I give TP Link, the company credit for working with me as much as possible and offering me the replacement. Kudos to them. But I decided to buy a different product as a wifi extender, coincidentally which was another TP link device. I do have faith in them as a company, just not this particular device. My finger pointing would really be at this reseller that apparently did not do a good job and checking the quality of the product before they re-sold it to me.

Range extender tp -Link
So happy to finally have this in my day to day. I was having issues with the call clarity and now that’s in the past finally got this and so happy I chose this route. The design is simple yet easy and works well. My call quality has improved and the speed along with the size of the coverage area has improved. For sure happy customer

Worked for 1 week then would not transmit
The product did work as described. Came in a plain unmarked box with the item name on it. No instructions as to how to set up, just a little scrap of paper with just a web link that was basically useless. After an online search for how to set it up using the actual device name located on the booster, I had to install the brand's piss poor excuse for an app to get it to work with my home network. After about an hour or so of hit or miss connections and frequent error on the app, device finally set up. Once I moved it to the location where the dead zone was, it worked perfectly...for about a week. Then it kept resetting and kicking off all devices connected. I initially thought it was the modem so I reset that. But after about 45 minutes the issue started again. That's when I decided to return...hence my 2nd bad experience with this product began. Unlike the rest of the hundreds of thousand other sellers that use UPS to come and pick up with a ready made label, I actually had to "old school print it out". Now if I was working, that wouldn't have been an issue as I would have had access to a printer. But now, thanks to COVID, I don't have access to a printer ANYWHERE and printers are literally sold out everywhere (I'm talking about the basic home printer for under $100. You can get business sized printers still but that's another gripe for another review) so printing the return label was a pain and took me over two weeks to find someone to print one for me and get it to me. That was 2 weeks ago. As of today I still don't have my refund from this seller and after speaking with an Amazon representative yesterday (9-7-2020) Amazon can't issue the refund because the party is a third party dealer. I'm beyond frustrated. Just don't get it. Its not worth the hassle. Amazon will not refund this item. I can't even get a hold of the seller. SO THEY GOT THEIR PRODUCT BACK 2 WEEKS AGO AND STOLE MY MONEY. I do not recommend.

Be sure your internet router is not "blended" before installation
I believe the "Quick Installation Guide" should come with a "pre-step" before you follow the installation instructions. You need to contact your internet provider to determine if your router is "blended". If your router has both a 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz and BOTH use the SAME Wi-Fi name AND password, you need to get the 2.4 GHz to be segregated to allow connection to this Range Extender. It took several hours with calls (including wait times) to my internet provider and TP-Link support to finally get this resolved in order for the Extender to work. I initially used the "chat function" for TP-Link Support and that was also a laborious process. It seems the Support representative is answering several chats as the same time so I would answer a question and then wait 2-5 minutes for a response. This took almost a half hour until we got to the "blended" issue that required resolution first. (I recommend you call TP-Link Support rather than using the Chat function if you have a "blended" router.) Once my internet provider segregated my 2.4 GHz setting, the Extender was easy to set up. As for the product itself, it has extended the range of my wireless internet to my back bedroom, but only slightly. I at least have the minimum amount (one "dot", not two or three "waves"), but it's better than no wireless at all. I tried to move the Extender another 10 feet closer to the hallway, but that was out of the range for the Extender to connect to my router. However, for $20, it does provide wireless to the back room, but the installation process was NOT "quick".

Consistent coverage with no lag
I bought a TP Link extender several years ago and had no issues - ended up giving it to a friend who still uses it and has no complaints! Ended up needing one at my new place and went with another TP Link that was refurbished and on sale and it has been fantastic and reliable since I started using it almost 3 months ago. Fiance was skeptical due to the low cost and hadn't heard of TP Link before but he says he was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to set up and the reliability of it as it has sustained our two phones and security cameras with no lag in speed whatsoever. Very very happy with this product!
