Half Yard Christmas: Easy sewing projects using left-over pieces of fabric Paperback – August 11, 2015

This book is just what I was hoping for. There are many Christmas-related decorations and gift ideas with instructions on how to make them.

I'm not sewer per se, but this book if filled with fun, simple and delightful projects I plan to make for this Christmas. Great instructions and great pictures. Highly recommend!

Nice projects to make with mall amounts of fabric. If you can make what you want already don't buy it but it is a good collection of many small Christmas projects!

Loved making several items from this book and look forward to trying other projects soon.

Debbie Shore's books are great.

Very disappointed that I cannot sell anything I make from this book as I am not a charity- most other craft books are happy for you to sell what you make - I bought this book for some inspiration but didn't really find it. Would have liked to have known in advance that there was such a strict policy regarding selling items.😠

Repetitive projects. Also makes use of felt! Which in my experience isn’t a ‘left over’ fabric so it wasn’t about making use of scraps but more buying felt specifically to complete one of the projects, which aren’t great.I think there’s just one of the projects that I’ll use but I will share the book with my craft group so they may make better use of it.Ultimately disappointing.

I do like Debbie's books and ideas. I have already started to make the gnomes to decorate the Christmas table and will be trying out other ideas later. Only one criticism there are 3 Christmas stockings in this book, different sizes and shapes but surely could have been one set of instructions and then different shapes etc suggested. Hope there will be more books from Debbie, can't wait.

As this is about small items and leftovers I was hoping for hand sewing projects, but these are almost all for a sewing machine or a glue gun. In fact I was a very disappointed about how much glue gunning is used instead of stitching.Obviously the projects are personal taste, but there's nothing new or unusual here. It's bunting, baubles, gift bags and stockings. As other reviewers have mentioned, the rustic items using hessian really do look quite terrible. The 'free motion embroidery' in the contemporary section looks a dreadful mess rather than modern freeform.On the plus side, the flower embellishments are brilliant. For mistletoe, poinsettias, holly and that kind of thing, the ideas and templates are lovely.

Debbie Shore's books are always well written and it's obviously well thought out by someone who is obviously herself a crafter. Not only fun but practical items are covered too making her books obvious winners.
