Songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jim Steinman's 'Whistle Down the Wind'

I have never seen a production of "Whistle Down the Wind" and don't know if I would even like it (but then I never thought I would want to see a musical about Eva Peron, so what do I know?), but these songs are amazing. The music and lyrics are compelling. I have always been moved by ALW's music since I first heard "Jesus Christ Superstar" as a concept album when I was in college (yes, I am very old), but somehow I missed this album until recently. I love the music and Jim Steinman was a brilliant choice as a collaborator. And when you add in the performances by so many amazing and varied artists, each personalizing their interpretation, unlike a cast album, this might just possibly be my favorite cd of all time. It certainly is my "go to" when I need to feel hopeful or need a good cry in these strange times. I am so thrilled I was able to find this cd in "like new" condition (even though this wonderful seller only called it "very good").

The only thing that’s worth the price of this CD is Bonnie Tyler’s Tire Tracks And Broken Hearts, which could have been a HUGE hit. The rest is a dumpster fire behind a Walmart.

Really great music, and quite a collection of artists. I bought it specifically for two songs, but have enjoyed the entire album.

Many of these songs pass the "whistle test"... you know it's a hit song when you can whistle melody after hearing it a time or two. Any fan of Broadway would love these songs. This is a nice collection from a wide variety of singers.

Jim Steinman and Lloyd Webber what a combo. I spent many months singing songs from this Musical as the Member of a Pro Am choir so i bought the Album and what a brilliant Albim it is and Boy George is a revelation on the track he sings and normally i dont like his singing as i am a meatloaf kind of guy heavy and operatic.I dont think there is a bad track on this cd Tom Jones and thr Sound of Blackness are just Awesome.

An enjoyable c.d i bought this c.d originaly for the track cold by the Everly Brothers as far as i know this is the only album with this track but also all the tracks by various artists are well worth the price of this c.d

Bought for 13 year old grandson who loves all musicals, he was thrilled with it as its a variety of rock & ballard

I bought this for my daughter who is performing in a local showing of this musical. She has been able to learn all the required songs quickly and is really enjoying the recordings.
