Chugga-Chugga Choo-Choo Review: Vivid illustrations, great rhymes, great fun to read aloud. - My Son is 2 1/2 now and loves his toy trains. I love that he loves trains because I've got a fascination with trains too (especially steam engines). As a parent, I know it's important to build a love of reading in my Son. But in order to do so the books have to hold his interest, otherwise he'll just go off to other things or just not pay attention...But the book has to hold MY interest too, or be fun to read aloud, otherwise he'll pick-up on my non-interest (because as any parent knows, toddlers can pickup on our feelings quite easily) and be uninterested as well. Something I like to do is that when we read together (for the books that he's familiar with) I let him finish the sentences usually having him say the last word in the sentence. This is kind of my gauge for whether he likes the book or not as well because if it's a book he likes we can easily go through it and get almost all the words. We just got the Hardcover version of Chugga-Chugga Choo-Choo and it's already one of my absolute favorite books to read to my Son, and I have to admit the little kid in me loves it to. My Son keeps asking to read it again and again and he's already memorizing words, so I think I can safely say it's one of his favorites too. This book is a solid winner because it's great for both of us... For him: - Lots of vivid images and colors (especially of trains and train cars!) - Lots of chugga-chugga choo choo and Whooooo whooo sounds that he loves to hear and say - Fun rhymes that make him want to learn the words For me: - Lots of vivid images and colors that capture my imagination and makes me want to make setup a world like that to play in - All the chugga-chugga choo-choo and whoooo whooo sounds are great fun to say (in-time with the rhymes) and even greater fun to see the big smile on my Sons face - There's an underlying story of a young boy who's got his whole room setup with trains and the rhymes are told from the boys perspective while he's imagining that world of trains - The book can be read as a lullaby as the final pages can be read at a whisper because the little boy in the story is off to sleep Books like this make it easy to instill a love of reading, very highly recommended. Review: Highly recommend - Great for the little train lover!! Very nice book made of heavy board pages so that it won't tear easily which is great with little kids!!

Wonderful Book for Kids Who Like Trains!
My almost three-year-old son LOVES trains and I wanted to buy him some train books for Christmas. I had seen this book in my list of recommendations based on my recent purchases and it was a great price so I ordered it. When he opened it on Christmas morning, he was delighted! I have now read it to him and his twin sister so many times but they never get tired of it. This book is wonderful for little boys or girls to inspire their imaginations. The story is told in a beautiful, poetic way that makes it easy and fun to read. Each set of pages contains one or two sentences that describe what trains do during the day like load up their cargo, go through tunnels, and finally, at the end of the day, unload their freight and go to bed. Several of the pages even end with "whoooooo! whooooooo!," which is fun for kids to hear. The pictures even show all of the toys and stuffed animals taking part in the train's day-to-day activities which I love. As I was reading this book for the first time to my kids, I noticed that the style is very similar to another book that we own, My Truck is Stuck! I compared them and discovered that Kevin Lewis wrote both books and Daniel Kirk illustrated both as well so if your child likes that book, this one would be another good book to add to your collection. Chugga-Chugga-Choo-Choo is a wonderful book and is perfect for any child who likes trains. At roughly 24 thick, sturdy board book pages, it's a great size for small hands and I'm glad I found this one for my son. He loves it and asks for it every night before bedtime, as well as throughout the day! I highly recommend this book for anyone whose child likes trains!

The rhythm of this story is top notch
This book should be more popular. Both of my children (one boy one girl) have LOVED this book now (age 18 months to 4 have enjoyed it). It has a cadence to it that’s so fun to read. Combine that with pictures that are bold and filled with action and you have a story that captivates without any need for flaps or textures. The “chugga chugga choo choo” and “whooo whooo” are so fun for the kids but not annoying for parents. I’ve read this countless times and I still like it. Highly recommend. I’m back on here to buy a copy for my nephews!

Perfect for little ones
This is a fun book to read to my son. He is 11 months old and books for this age are tricky. They often don't tell a story or have many words in them, or they are too long to hold short attention spans. This one is perfect! It follows a train from dawn until dusk, so it is perfect for bedtime. They rhyming pattern is so cleaver and fun to read for me, and fun for him to listen to. I also love that the part of the book that repeats is the train noise (whooo whooo), because it is very enthusiastic at the beginning but as the day comes to an end it gets sleepier sounding. Plus, my son loves when we make that noise. This is great because there is some story here, but it isn't super long so it holds his attention until the end. We all have good fun reading it too. The pictures are beautiful, and colors are nice and vivid too.

Wonderful Book - Poor Binding
My child and I both love this book. The pictures are bold and Bright. The text held his attention at 19 months. I also enjoyed reading it; the rhymes and story are great. My son actively gets involved "woowoo", etc. we liked the story so much we bought Tugga Tugga Tugboat and My Truck is Stuck" however the binding seems so flimsy, the pages have fallen out. I have taped the book numerous times and I finally had to toss it. I probably will buy again b/c we like it so much. Tugga Tugga Tugboat seems to have the same problem but so far its hanging in there (its not read as much). My son is not exactly gentle w/ his books, but none of his others have this problem (except Tugga Tugga tugboat). My Truck is Stuck seems to have a much better binding.

My kid is a huge fan of the 'My truck is stuck' so buying another book from the author made sense. And I am not disappointed. The book is beautifully illustrated and if your little one is into trains...do not think twice - you should buy it... Another surprise element of this book was how the author has weaved 'going to bed' into the book. For days that my kid makes a huge racket about going to bed - we read this book together, he hugs his toy train and is off to sleep.
