Interesting analysis
While I did enjoy the Game Changer, including the stories of pros, his personal journey through discovering his coaching method, and his analysis of his information, I can't say that I agree with all of his methods. It seems that some of his information leaves room for interpretation, which in turn means that some information may be refuted in the coming years. I would also not recommend this book for beginners that want to take the next step, for most of the information would probably go over their head. But if you are a serious bowler, it is worth the read!!

Game Changer for me!!!
In my opinion this book is a game changer, I would recommend it to a bowler of just about any level above beginner. If you are a higher level bowler and struggling or maybe just want to shore up your game Its worth the read. My particulars/Why I think its a game changer. For the last ~ 10 years I have been in the 205-210 avg. I have had lessons with various coaches/instructors over these years, some Gold and Silver certified. Last two years I wanted to better my game more and started taking more lesson and practicing more. Result: worst year in 10, first year under 200 in 10 years. This year even worse after first three weeks 182 avg. Somethings gotta change. I bought this book last week partially for me and partially because I am going to start coaching a local high school. One major problem I have had for probably ever was bringing the ball behind my back. Pretty much all the coaches commented on it and we worked to stop it, by just saying STOP IT. I couldn't and I had also changed/messed with other parts of my game. Again the last year and a half, not fun. Enter Mark's Book. One of the thing he talked about was why the ball will come behind your back, and what to do to fix it. A very simple fix. I bowled two game at a fund raiser on Friday and tried it, it looked good. League on Monday in practice, probably 10-12 strikes solid. Totally balanced at the line. I missed the pocket twice that night, never went brooklyn and never missed the headpin. I was solid at the line, and in balance, unlike the last year. It was a complete Game Change in one week. Others noticed as well. Was it the book that helped? You Bet. Would I recommend it? You Bet.

A must-read if you want to get better!
This book is amazing! So many details, and examples of things to look for and adjust in your bowling form. I have no doubt that this book can help anyone become a more consistent bowler. And consistency will make higher scores! I bet the pro's agree, since Mark coaches so many of them.

Holds Up Incredibly Well
I read this in 2026 after seeing Mark's videos online. He would often use terms I wasn't as familiar with. Since reading this book, I've been able to get way more out of his videos and Q&A. I would highly recommend reading it even many years later as it holds up incredibly well.

Good for any abilty
At 54 I just started bowling in the last few years. I played and coached competitive baseball/softball from 8 years old until I was in my 50's and my body just wouldn't do what I needed it to do anymore and a friend got me into bowling. It has fulfilled the competitive aspect that I enjoy in a sport/hobby and really enjoy learning all of the ins and outs of it. This book has already answered some questions and helped my game after reading it one time. Just starting to read thru the second time and I'm sure I will be referencing this book many times. I bought the kindle version and I will be buying the actual book soon so I can do all of my underlining, highlighting and note taking. Bottom line...buy the book.

Not for beginners!
A really good book if you are into bowling. If that were the case for me I probably would have given it 5 stars. I enjoy bowling but have no intention of ever devoting more than a little time to it. That does not mean I won't practice and it does not mean I will not benefit from this book. It just means it is not the best fit for my needs. The biggest problem is the constant and annoying use of bowling jargon. Some of it is properly explained in inconvenient small print foot notes but a lot of it is still left up to the imagination. I kinda doubt bowling jargon is universal so this to me is also part of the problem. I also think text is not the best way to get some of the points across- I think bullet pointed lists like "If this happens do this- bullet bullet bullet" would be more functional for a person trying to use this for self improvement. Maybe that is the point: you need a coach who can video you and critique. Once again that is a bit deep for me at this point. It IS clear to me this is worth having, I don't regret buying it at all but it is not easily translatable as a "how to". It does work as a "what to" which leaves it one step shy of perfect for me. If you like to bowl at all though its worth it. If you are really into bowling either for your living or your ego, skip the book and visit this guy!!!

I was struggling to shot big games all year. Purchased the book and have been working with Bakers views for about 2 months now with good results. I knew I was drifting right with my feet but Bakes tips finally have me straight. Also worked on getting the ball into my swing earlier after seeing my "Timing Spot" was late. I am still working with this. Since I started I have seen 20+ 250 or higher games with three 750+ series. This is a book you can read many times over and get lots out of it every time.

Interesting read, Mark Baker mostly focuses on the approach and legwork here and how it affects timing. So don't expect to find anything about your release or how to hook or other such areas but it's still a very worthwhile read, plus the anecdotes are good and overall it's delivered in a fun and understandable manner.
