Completely revised and updated throughout, Bryan Peterson's classic guide to creativity helps photographers visualize their work, and the world, in a whole new light by developing their photographic vision. Fully revised with all new photography, this best-selling guide takes a radical approach to creativity by explaining that it is not an inherent ability but a skill that can be learned and applied. Using inventive photos from his own stunning portfolio, author and veteran photographer Bryan Peterson deconstructs creativity for photographers. He details the basic techniques that go into not only taking a particular photo, but also provides insights on how to improve upon it--helping readers avoid the visual pitfalls and technical dead ends that can lead to dull, uninventive photographs. This revised edition features a complete section on color as a design element and all new photographs to illustrate Peterson's points. Learning to See Creatively is the definitive reference for any photographer looking for a fresh perspective on their work. Review: Best book on composition for photography I have read. - This book is the best I have read for composition in photography. Of course all the basic elements that others cover, with maybe a couple I have not seen before, but most I have seen before. However this author does a great job of showing what he did and how it works. Many with two photos showing first a simple snapshot, and then how compositional changes improved it. Inspirational, in that I want to get out and try to do better with the techniques presented. Review: Inspiring and Filled with Knowledge - This is an excellent book for new photographers and for experienced photographers who are still teachable. While there is nothing earth shattering, the book is laced out in a way that challenges thinking and encourages vision.

Principals especially helpful for novice but great reminders for the experienced photographers as well.
The book is very simple read, understand and bring vet practical. Pictures shows how the author comes to the final composition and he explains along the way. It is geared more for the beginning photographer, however, I did reminded somethings that I had forgotten and I think it is helpful to me. One can finished the book in less than couple hours. But the general ideas and direction he gave is very universal and of value to improve ones pictures.

It surely opens up your mind in to creativity!
This is the first book that I ever purchased related to Photography. And it was a fruitful decision. It is well written, well composed, well explained and has lots of content in it. I've watched all of Bryan Peterson's videos on YouTube and I simply admire his works and his teaching techniques. And that made me purchase and give this book a try. He has covered almost everything that we (as learning photographers) need to know in order to compose our shots and put an emotion/story/theme in to it. It surely opens up your mind and help you see the same things in many perspectives, helping us to make a better composition. He also talks about the uses of different lenses and their purposes and how we can use them to their best potential with creativity. Overall I'm very pleased with this book and I highly recommend it to any photographer or photography learner how wants to enhance their skills and composition techniques. It can also be a very good gift if you are planning to give to someone! Thumbs Up!

A good guide to thinking about your composition skills.
I have bought each of the three editions of this book over the years. Sadly with 1000 frame memory cards on modern cameras, inexperienced photographers don't have to worry so much about exposure. Even if you perfect the exposure with trial and error there is the question of composition. If you shoot 1000 frames and the composition is poor... This book in all it's versions opens your eyes to composition. A good guide to opening your eyes to composition options. The first edition taught me about compressed landscapes - a use of telephoto lenses for landscape shots that has become a favorite landscape technique. Even one good tidbit is worth the price of the book. My guess is there is something in here for even the experienced photographer. Paul

Mediocre at the best
The book is very vague and unnecessarily long, filled with empty words that are meaningless. Even the sample images are not visually pleasing and I would definitely not follow someone who post photos at this level on instagram or other sites, let alone paying to buy photo from them. I’m including some sample images in this book, if you want to make ugly photos like this, buy the book. Otherwise look elsewhere.

A number of worthwhile points to ponder
Being new to photography, I decided to learn as much as I could about the subject through reading. This is about my 7th book on various aspects of photography and is one I will definitely be rereading. The book has a host of pictures which showed the points being made in the book. This is an excellent way for me to learn.

Good book, mostly for beginners.
The printed copy never arrived, so I bought the e-book instead. It’s a good and well-written book, but it’s mostly aimed at beginners. As someone who’s already past that stage, I still found a few useful ideas and reminders, but much of it repeats what I’ve seen in other photography books. Still, it’s a solid read for anyone building their creative foundation.

Simply brilliant and straight to the point!
I bought this book in English, so I'm going to write this little review in the same language. This book by Bryan Peterson is just brilliant. Bryan has a not-so-common ability to explain complex concept in a simple and easy to grasp way. In short, he doesn't "run circles around the pot", he gets straight to the point, making not-so-obvious things seem, well, obvious! He does so in a humourous, striking and down-to-earth manner: what he says is engraved in your brain, and makes you say "how come I didn't think of that?!" He uses common sense, which is a scarce quality nowadays... Learn to focus and do not let futile things clutter your creative process! A must have. Kindle version? Puh-lease... no, get the paper version so you can admire the photo examples in colour! Happy shooting!
