It works
Works but not a professional quality. The string is just a string and the plate is pretty thin. It does not like a current or moving waterways. Would suggest upgrading to a marked small rope because the string is gonna become a tangled mess someday.

Works fine
Secchi disk is solid, tho the string is a bit flimsey

Nice Secchi disk
Nice Secchi disk. Sinking weight is heavier than I expected, making measurements even easier. Rope handle is made out of a lightweight foam, which was nice surprise. The flexibility of it will come in handy when dealing with a wet line. Overall, very pleased.

It get's the job done
An economical tool to check on the algae bloom state. Check the knot and mark the ropes depths the way you like. It gets the job done.

I needed this disc for work (wetland work on Lake Ontario), as we do water quality monitoring quite frequently and had recently lost our metal, heavier duty Secchi disk. The disc itself works as it should, though it is made of thin plastic and probably would not withstand too much hard use and would likely break if dropped on any hard surface or hitting obstructions (i.e. rocks) when lowering in the water. The weight attached to the disk is heavy enough to prevent too much drift in slow-moderate current, making it easier to record measurements in flowing water. The line that came attached to the disk is not the strongest, and the measurement markings made on the ""calibrated" line were incorrect or followed no consistent pattern, so I had to add my own. Otherwise, the disk worked in a pinch and will suffice as advertised.

Great product. Feels solid, plenty of rope, well weighted disk. It's a really fun activity for all ages to get involved in some citizen science, especially the kids. We will be using it to track the turbidity of the lake at our cabin throughout the year. Makes for a nice activity at your favourite boating/fishing spot as well. Only complaint is that the marks are very difficult to read which makes using it slow and tedious as you end up searching for the mark every foot.

Looks great. Just wish the measurements came in metric rather than Imperial.
