Great textbooks that's current (2013)
I got this textbook for an Integrated Marketing course at NYU. I must say I am quite happy with it dense and very up to date content. It is very well written, has good case studies of many prominent companies and is written in a way that it is easy to comprehend the chapters. I am quite happy with it and am definitely learning a lot.

Perfect!
Judging by the price, I was expecting some sort of Kindle code to show up at my door, but two days after purchasing, the hardcover book came in! I purchased it "usable" condition, but after flipping through it, all the pages are there and I didn't see any writing. I came back on to make sure I didn't rent it for this price, but it says I purchased it! I'm very excited; I'm now in graduate school and this is by far the cheapest book I've ever bought for classes!

The gold standard textbook in marketing
The book goes deep into marketing principles such as segmenting and targeting, 3C, 4P, SWOT, and 5 Forces. Marketing is a relatively new field. Its knowledge base isn't as quantitative or deep as other fields in business. This book, in my view, is highly comprehensive. But it does skip the quantitative (statistical regression etc.) aspects to marketing, which is probably beyond the scope of this book anyway. After reading this book, now I see why this book is considered THE marketing textbook. Just about everything you would want to know about marketing is contained in this book. The also provides up-to-date coverage of marketing strategies of various companies. What this book lacks is a strong chapter on brand management. It does cover brand management. But it covers it like a typical textbook. To me, brand management is about emotions, and the book does little to teach its reader on that aspects of brand management. Pros: 1)Comprehensive. It covers Segmenting & Targeting, 3C, 4P, SWOT, 5 Forces etc. 2)Highly up to date with cases that covers latest best practices. 3)Very well written and refined. This is the 14th edition so the author has had many revisions. 4)The author is a well known expert in marketing. Cons: 1)Chapter on brand management was dry and lacking details on how to a brand can inspire positive emotions in people.

Seminal text/handbook for marketing world.
Phil Kotler is still the number one marketing guru. Methodology is easy to apply.

For every Student of Marketing
This book provided clear and concise tools for today's marketing techniques and how company's are utilizing marketing to satisfy their customers. The cases and brands used are of everyday products. Kotler's principles are on point. I'm very please with this book. I rented it but I think I may end up purchasing this book as I it being useful to me in the future.

Only two devices for $167?
Pearson really should provide the capability to view the ebook on more than 2 devices. They are charging over $150 for a book that has no physical existence. That is a gouge in the first place, but to then tell me I can't have it on my phone, kindle and PC simultaneously without doing registration/deregistration gymastics . . . ? That betrays a very low estimation of their customers and a little bit of ignorance of the way people use technology at this moment. One of the big reasons I buy ebooks is ubiquitous availability. To restrict that is destroying a lot of the value of the format. That said, I'm certainly not going back to buying the 5-pound print doorstop version. But Pearson, throw your student customers a bone. Would 3 devices kill you, you DRM tightwads?

I love this kindle edition!!
I read a prior review that warned of the disadvantages of the kindle edition, but after using this for a week now I have to say that I love it! If I come to a word I am not familiar with I just click it and it brings me the definition...I can highlight and bookmark and not have to carry around a monstrous $242 book...just my laptop. It definitely took a little bit of time to get used to the format, however if you use PDF versions of documents this looks almost exactly the same. The one thing I am missing is an index, but the search option makes up for that. I would definitely recommend the kindle edition of the textbook, especially if you don't want to pay an arm and a leg in the campus bookstore.

Never Received and am Still Dealing with it Months later
I am absolutely disgusted with Amazon's textbook rental. Not only did I never receive this book, not only did I report that I didn't receive it, but they are still trying to charge me for it. I paid the rental fee and since I never received it they credited the fee back to my account and told me they would take care of it. 4 months later I receive an email telling me it is due and they are going to charge me an extension fee if it isn't returned. I chat via Amazon with them and they apologize and tell me not to worry I will NOT be charged for an extension or the book. 1 month goes by and I have now been charged $23+ for an extension for this book. I call Amazon and am told they apologize again and it is now fixed, but it will take us 2+ weeks to issue my refund. Unacceptable. They had no right to take a penny from me, especially after months of dealing with this. I ended up dropping my class and moving it to the end of my MBA because of not getting my book on time or in this case EVER! So, disgusted at this point I will be using a different service to rent my textbooks.

Very poor kindle edition of a great book
Very poor kindle edition of a great book. Bought it half an hour back and I see there are no figures, instead only the Fig 1.1 and Fig 1.2 etc are mentioned. I am surprised how can they even sell this officially.
