A good overview of the world of tax lien investing
I really enjoyed this book. I have been looking for new ways to invest my excess income and this book gave me enough information to get started with investing in tax lien certificates. How well this book holds up will be answered in time. But it was very informative and written in simple enough language, as opposed to strictly legal-speak, that I feel confident to start doing my own research and start investing on my own.

This is the answer
Well if you've found your way to this area you're looking for an answer to the question; Is this real? Well it's real and this is a good book to get answers to many of your questions regarding Tax-Line investing. I will warn you now though that much of the information is dated but the general premise is really good info. Good luck, I hope you decide not to join us after you read the book. (smile) Follow-up; I first entered comments on this book back in 2001, in 2007 I still believe this book is an EXCELLENT primer on teaching you about Tax Lien Certificates (TLC). Since my originally finding this book and commenting I see that a lot more people are finding this book and some of the comments are scathing. Here's a follow-up, this book tell you how to do it. You have to go do the work. An experience that we had has taught a lesson regarding TLC's. You should use these as the illiquid part of your investment portfolio. Recently, we received payment for a TLC purchased in 2001. Now, the payout was quite significant but it took 64 months to get it back. The day after we bought the TLC the company filed for bankruptcy protection. The good news as the book explains; tax obligations don't go away. So you're going to get paid or get the property, but it took an awful long time. But don't forget as long as the loan is outstanding they owe you interest. I our case the avg. annual return was 9.5%, better than the equity market over the period. Long/short: this is a great investment. Even though many of you that have done tax lien investing already know that some of these TLC redeem very quickly, the new investor should consider this an illiquid investment.

Lovely
I would recommend this book to the person who will actually go out there and do it. I first read about the book from Kiyosaki's Rich Dad, Poor Dad series and thought it was worth a look. I ordered it off Amazon. The book is definitely worth the time, though maybe not the money. It's a very quick read for a very quick idea. Moskowitz gives you the quick and skinny right off the bat, in very simple terms, and with no fluff, that's why the book is so short at roughly 150 pages. He gives you the ideas, with pros and cons, and some examples from his experience. After I finished the book, I went to my local town hall/court house and asked about tax liens and they pointed me in the right direction. I also noticed, after reading Moskowitz's book, that the free local paper has tons of information about local houses in the county that have tax liens, if you're lucky, the houses will have the address next to their owner's names. If not, it could be a lot number, like how Moskowitz describes in the book. Overall, a very good book. I highly recommend it :) and good luck!

Good for Basic Information
This is one of the books that I keep in my library, probably because when I bought it five years ago, it was the only book available about tax liens. Even though it's a newer addition then when it was first written, it's still dated and now there are other books available that are more complete. It's a good book for basic information about tax liens in the most popular tax lien states. Don't buy it if your interested in tax deeds, it has no information about tax deed states. Because state laws constantly change some of the information is no longer relevant.

Very much to the piint
A good book for beginners in that step-by-step general methods are explained. Good for the experienced lien investor in that a state by state overview is provided in the second one half of the book for states offering 16% or mote. Good information on environmental issues, protection, and what to look for in properties r That may have environmental issues but the author does point out that with rare exceptions, you should not have any issues with residential properties, mainly commercia.
