This is my second time purchasing a simplehuman trash can, and it continues to exceed my expectations. The quality and design of this product are top-notch—durable, sleek size was well thought out for everyday use. The lid mechanism works smoothly and quietly, and it does a great job containing odors with simplehuman odorsob pods. It’s a bit of an investment, but in my experience, it’s absolutely worth it for the longevity and functionality.

Amazing can! It’s ridiculous how excited people get about trash cans now and how willing we are - myself included - to shell out over $100 just to throw out what we don’t want! Yet, we do and we are :) My wife and I LOVE this trash can. The rectangular shape with curved edges around the top lip of the can REALLY adds a lot more room than our previous Simple Human can, without adding much extra floor space in our kitchen at all. In fact, it added maybe a little over 2” in width, and less than 1” in depth from our previous 40L can. Again though, amazingly, these slight differences do make up for the extra 5L we get in this can. I love the fact there is a “double-lid,” the top of which is used to clamp on top of the rim of the garbage can opening after you place the trash bag inside the bin. I LOVE this feature and it keeps the bag always nice and neatly aligned without snagging, getting a side pulled down inside of itself accidentally, etc. The trash bag compartment accessible both on the backside and interior of the can to pull a new bag is icing on the cake and makes changing out trash bags WAY easier. This process in our old Simple Human used to be much more difficult and messy at time. And even when full, I don’t get the horrible air vacuum suction effect when trying to pull the bag up and get it out of the can. This would happen frequently with my old can and it became a pain in the butt and took a lot of strength to pull a full bag out. Not so with this one! No motion-activated lid which I actually like a lot. Motion sensors often break after a whole, then you have a half-working can. So J like this is purely manual. AND kudos to Simple Human realizing a matte finish lid is much better than a stainless steel lid which always shows fingerprints and yucky stuff constantly. Love the matte gray on this so it hides imperfections and doesn’t stain with fingerprints. A+! Last thing is, though the step to open is on the front perimeter of the can, my wife and I set this up so that the top lid faces sideways. The only place we could fit this was on the left of our kitchen island. And even stepping on this from the side I don’t feel any difference nor encumbrance doing so. Works great. All in all, five stars. Couldn’t be happier. So weird I’m rating a trash can but it’s great!

I hesitated buying this trashcan because it’s a 45 L. Our previous trashcan was the earlier model from Simple Human, which was a 50 L. I liked that one a lot. I was also worried about whether I could still use glad forceflex kitchen trash bags. They were a tight squeeze on our old trashcan, but I just felt like that held them on better. We have been using this trashcan for a couple of months now, and I love it! The 13 gallon kitchen trash bags fit perfectly. I’m still using the glad force flex. They are not a tight squeeze so they’re easier to get on and off. At first I was worried that they wouldn’t hold on as well, but they are very secure. This is an huge improvement on the old trashcan. I look back now, and realize how much we struggled to get those tightly fitted bags onto the liner compared to now. Because there is no liner, like with the old trashcan, taking out the trash and replacing the bag is a more streamlined process. The trashcan also is visibly smaller, which I like. Presumably because it’s 5 L smaller (a difference I have not noticed), and because there is no liner (that plastic bin that goes inside the trashcan that I had to remove from the can each time I wanted to change out the bag). I was worried that the size difference would be a problem because we generate a lot of trash with five people in our household and frequent guests. But I find we are filling the trashcan at the same rate as before. Aesthetically, the trashcan is also a winner. Every family member commented on it. They were all impressed with the look. I’m extremely happy with this trashcan. If you are on the fence, I would definitely recommend getting it.

After over 7 years and having saved my life, the last Simple Human kitchen trash can needed to be replaced. We LOVE the dispenser for the bags and this can is even better than the last one! The bags fit snuggly and are heavy duty. We could not be more pleased. (YES! The old can saved my life. The distance between our refrigerator and the wall across from it is 5 ft. I slipped on a very slippery waxed floor in socked feet and fell looking at the refrigerator with my back to the wall where we had the trash can. Had the can not been there, and broken my fall, my neck would surely have snapped when I landed. I took the dents out and we kept that trash can for years until the lid opening mechanism finally broke.)

This is an excellent garbage can. I used to buy the cans with the motion sensor but they were constantly breaking. Going back to old school step can was the way to go. This can is built to last. It’s also nice looking and looks great in my kitchen.

Sleek and elegant, nobody likes trash so it may as well be thrown away and recycled with this handsome bin.

Purchased the 45L step version in March of 2022. Was skeptical of the cost/value. It’s a great experience to use, easy to replace bags and the bag pocket is nice. Their bags are very sturdy, I haven’t had one rip yet. The other thing that’s great is how close you can get it to the wall and still be able to replace the bags. Fantastic design. It’s a trash can, so expect to wipe it down regularly. In November 2023, the top part of the lid broke off. No clue how it happened, we don’t abuse it or anything. Needless to say I was disappointed and expecting to go through some convoluted warranty process. To my surprise it was extremely simple, with zero cost, not even shipping. Their website is very easy to use. I just needed to register the product with the serial number. They have a nice diagram of where to find it. Then there’s a claim warranty button, choose the part you need and they ship it at no cost. The warranty claim experience is the reason I came back to do the review. Not only a great product, but great customer service. In this day and age that’s extremely rare.

En principio parecía que no tenía ningún problema importante pero debió de sufrir algún golpe porque empezó a abrirse mal la tapa y resulta que una de las bisagras está rota. Lastima que nos hemos dado cuenta demasiado tarde

Gute Qualität. Macht jeden Tag Freude ihn zu benutzen. Die Ersatz-Müllbeutel sind zwar ziemlich teuer, aber passen supergenau. Kaufe sie trotzdem. Da man eigentlich nicht viel in der Woche davon braucht, gehts eigentlich. Bisher ist keiner gerissen oder geplatzt. Bin damit sehr zufrieden.

Very well thought out with the neat lid design and integrated holder for spare bags. The refill liners always fit well and are strong, The bin is superb quality and the wide design minimises spillages. Expensive but very high quality.

A great trash can, the best I’ve ever had.
