Green Guru

When i first unpacked it, it looked a little bit smaller than I thought it would be, but measures perfectly to advertised specs. Folds very flat whe not in use but deep when fully deployed. Weights about 2.5 lbs. bottom comes out as 'cutting board'. Rides just low enough to easily still use the deck if the rack for a load of cat food or a basket. It's really about as big as it can be: any higher and it would make the deck unusable. Any wider, and you'd clip it with your heel. Any deeper, and I'm sure I'd hit cars with it. It is as beautiful as it is unique. Mine is dark green with tiny light spots, all uniform (no company logos or writing). Strap does not come of, but is easy to tug inside. Highlights are very visible and allow to clip on lights. This is neither dust nor waterproof (nor does it claim to) due to gaps in corners near lid. But the material itself is waterproof and will keep the worst out. Just don't put a naked laptop in a grocery pannier in a rainstorm. Loaded with 17 lbs of groceries today: one quart of milk in glas bottle, 14 smallish apples in paper tote, 3 16oz cans, 2 cans of sardines, a bag of rice, 7 bananas, 1 red pepper. Could have probably fit a bit more in the gaps. A bit cumbersome to carry when full, but on the bike I only noticed it when letting go of the handlebars at a stop (oops). Rode it home about 4 miles. Even in an all-out standing climb all i noticed was a little extra weight. Did not budge on (mild) dirt track and potholes. Attaches to my trek bike as if made for the rack. The generous clamps (too big for thinner rails?) click easy on the thick Bontager light rack rail, and are just close enough together to push it back far enough to be flush with the rear end of the rack. The strap to secure it at the bottom slides over the rounding of the low rail of the rack at hub level - think about attaching panniers when you buy a rack- a little horizontal bar at one below hub level is good. Will revise if I fall out of love with this. Might get a second one for balance (only an issue at a stop) and additional capacity.

I have used this for a couple of months now. I’m a casual commuter cyclist, I have a Dutch bike and only log a couple of miles per ride on city streets and bike paths. That being said, this pannier is generous in size, easy to get on and off my bike, and quirky/fun to look at. The Velcro closure is not watertight, but is strong and keeps my stuff safely inside during my ride. The shoulder strap tucks in for the ride, and is much appreciated when I get to work or the store. There’s a cutting board included that lays on bottom, practically begging me to load up a picnic. I’m very happy with this purchase. If you want a pannier for cross country or overnight trips, this is probably not for you, but for day to day trips to work, the store, etc, where you’re not going to have heavy rain, think it’s perfect. (Being in California, I have not had this out in wet weather of any kind yet.)

I concur with joe shmo's review. I've also done the research and there simply is no other pannier on the market that has a footprint of 12"×10". In Hawaii our typical styrofoam meal container measures 9"×9". I also agree that an insulated zipper top grocery bag is the way to go for food delivery with this pannier. Very good craftsmanship but secure it the best that you can. Possibly hose clamps over the hooks that won't be easy to cut like zip-ties. Now...the problem with my order was that I ordered a second after receiving the first. When it comes in, I'm absolutely thrilled because it matches the first bag exactly. However, the adjustable bottom hook assembly is simply not there and I go from elation to devastation. I send the second bag back immediately. The replacement sits in a warehouse for 3 days and I end up waiting an extra 9 days to get a complete second bag which is not an exact match to the first. This could have been avoided with a little quality control. I hope none of you will have to go through that. It hurt me in particular because I use panniers for work. In the end, it is a high quality product that is simply unmatched as to bottom footprint which does not in any way interfere with your pedalling motion I plan on buying more Green Guru products for my work ebike.

I've been using these bags on my e-bike for a few months now. I keep them on my bike all the time, but they stay folded up in the back when not in use. There is a heavy velcro tab that keeps them in place. The straps on the back are adjustable so as to keep the panniers tight against the bike to prevent them from clattering about. Like the velcro, the attachment straps seem to be pretty sturdy, along with the metal hooks and elastic pieces that complete the attachment mechanism. I plan on bringing the bags in for the Michigan winter months as I doubt that the elastic will survive the extreme weather of winter. The cutting board in the bottom of the bag is a thick, solid, yet light weight plastic that supports some pretty heavy loads. I have used these bags on grocery shopping runs. I take them off and carry them into the store and attach them to the shopping cart. Then, leaving the plastic/paper bags alone, I load the groceries directly into the panniers. I've filled two panniers (one on each side of my bike) with groceries (think canned goods, bottles of wine, milk, produce) and they don't really seem to strain under the weight. Although the main compartment material is waterproof (seems like a plastic impregnated canvas), I wouldn't call the whole bag waterproof. The top of the bag simply folds over and velcro closed. There is some overlap of the top over the sides AND there are additional flaps that protect the top along the sides, but I'd guess that a strong wind/rain could push some water into the bags. I've used them while riding in the rain and haven't had water get into the bags myself, so all-in-all they're pretty water resistant. You've probably already picked up on this, but the photo of the product is just and example of what the bag COULD look like. But this is a pannier made re-purposing material from advertising signs. So one of my bags is red and white with only pieces of a few words scattered across them. The other one is super-awesome IMO. It was made from a well known craft beer company. All in all, I couldn't be happier with these. They are very well made; I love the repurposing of materials that would otherwise end up in a land fill. They are sturdy and fit well on my bike!

I've recently been fixing up my whole new commuter bike setup. Didn't realize panniers could be so pricey! But I went with this one to support something made in the US and because I liked the ethos of reusing old banners and stuff. In terms of utility, it's great. A medium sized bag, very sturdy, flattens well for when it's empty, quick and easy to clip on the cargo rack. Come with shoulder strap and an inner divider pocket (probably ideal for slotting in your laptop or something like that). Maybe an extra small pocket or something would've been nice for smaller items, but otherwise I like keeping it simple as it is. The best but also kind of a gamble part is the design. If you're really particular about the "look" of your setup, then maybe not ideal, but I trusted 'em. I got an interesting cartoony castle with pine tree thing. I wasn't sure exactly how I felt about the castle 😅 but I liked the pine tree. And I covered the castle with stickers anyways, like I do with all my stuff cause at my heart I'm still a 13-year-old girl, apparently.

I'm obsessed with this bag. Mine arrived in a solid, vibrant green color with black on the sides and back. The hooks attach hassle-free to my rack (I purchased the Plant Bike Eco Rack Oversized from Amazon) and the shoulder strap is really convenient. I commute to work via bike and this holds all the essentials - wallet, pair of shoes, lunch, makeup bag, sweater, etc. The hooks in the back are not a nuisance when I carry the bag via shoulder strap. I like that the top flap comes down over the bag and Velcros to the front - it's not watertight or theft-proof by any means, but it provides basic cover from the light rain I occasionally ride in and doesn't encourage opportunists to swipe my stuff when I'm stopped at a light.

This bag does have a nice square footprint, which means it can carry larger things laying flat. However the sides to not extend very far up, so whatever you put in it needs to be pretty self-contained (a backpack or a shopping bag for example). I also wish the sides of this were reflective so that when you put it on the bike it increases your visibility from behind. The front is higher vis, but this isn't very useful for riding in traffic. I have an older Green Guru bag that has white side panels that I love, but most of their newer stuff seems to only be available in black.

I researched many bike panniers and this is by far the best one I can find. The bag is sturdy, attaches securely to my rear rack (yet can be removed with one hand), folds flat when not in use, and doesn't sag when fully loaded. I'm pleased with the design imprinted on mine and I like how each bag is unique. While this pannier is perfectly suited for hauling groceries, I like pairing it with a Bontrager pannier that has pockets that are convenient for stashing small items.
