Yum!
The pimento cheese, Bentons bacon and fresh hot biscuit recipe is wonderful! Great directions for a tender southern biscuit, gravy and more. The cookbook is very well written with sweet memories of the authors childhood sprinkled in!

Easy recipes
I really loved this book. It took me back to my childhood and my grandmother's biscuits. The directions are easy to follow.

Too much redundancy
Some of the ideas are interesting, especially a couple of meat and potato biscuit recipes. There was, however, an extremely annoying amount of redundancy in the directions. How many times does one need to be told to “cuddle” the dough, or when the texture tells you there is enough buttermilk. She could have given a single set of directions, and then talked about variations. I haven’t tried any of the recipes yet, so I don’t know if they actually work. I thought she did a good job of explaining about soft wheat flours.

Interesting book a little pricey for such a small recipe/history of food type of book. But I think this series is very interesting. I will have to order more of them...preferably when they are on sale.
