I have the same manual on a CD but if you want to refer to and work on you car you really need this book. It is, however, not perfect. Most if not all of the writing is done from the point of view as if you had a right hand drive car so you have to do a few mental backflips occasionally to understand what they mean. Also "English" terminology is used as well which sometimes you really have to think about what is written the way it is written to understand what they really mean. Finally, and this is probably my biggest gripe, is that as the models have changed over the years there are cases where the book doesn't accurately document these changes. So if you try to do some procedure and follow the instructions in the manual it just won't work the way they described. Working on the dash in my car I've had to discover on my own how to do things that weren't accurately covered in the book which has taken a lot longer than it should have. E type manual
This is a must have for any e type owner. I have the same manual on a CD but if you want to refer to and work on you car you really need this book. It is, however, not perfect. A must have if you're going to work on your E-Type
This book is pretty much essential if you're going to do any work on your Jaguar E-Type. The book contains descriptions of maintenance tasks that you'll need to perform. It is quite complete and has sections for 3.8 and 4.2 models, although the 4.2 is an addendum so you need to look in both sections. It does however make a lot of assumptions (e.g. would be nice if they did things like outlining bolt sizes and so on so you can get the right tools out for the job) and there could be more diagrams included. It is a worthwhile purchase.

Convoluted and expensive but it is what it is
This is THE official service manual but I wish it included more torque settings, and an index. It does include some useful tips beyond merely how things come apart and go together but I find the organization a bit convoluted. I like the Haynes manual but it is not quite as detailed - half as thick.

The definitive "how to build it" guide
If you want the original, look no further. Great resource for any restoration. Used ones come up for sale, but with a reprint like this, I won't worry about getting a little oil on it.

Invaluable
I would recommend this to anyone who is likely to do any work on an E Type. Detailed text and numerous clear diagrams. It is also so nice to have a book to thumb through rather than having a manual on a disc and trying to search on the screen. I have already used it many times. It is an invaluable friend!
