There were several masters of animation during Hollywood's golden era. Of the top two geniuses, one created elaborate fairy tales and ornate feature-length fantasias -- the other guy was Tex Avery. He just wanted to make you laugh. Having already been integrally involved in the development of Porky Pig, Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny for Warner Bros., Avery moved to MGM in 1941 to create a set of comedy masterpieces that defined a new slapstick style for animation, inspiring cartoonists, comedians and filmmakers for decades to come. Avery's unit at Metro Goldwyn Mayer was all about breaking the fourth wall, shattering expectations and making audiences fall down with laughter. His one-shot masterpieces, including Bad Luck Blackie, Red Hot Riding Hood and Symphony in Slang, have proven themselves pure gold. And continuing characters like Droopy, Screwball Squirrel and George & Junior -- not to mention Spike, Red and The Wolf -- remain unforgettable comic personas among the top rank of cartoondom. Avery's cartoons were ahead of their time -- and their time has come. Finally committed to Blu-ray , this first collection of restored Technicolor shorts feels fresh and new, and is funnier than ever. This set will delight young and old -- and will amaze a new generation ready to laugh again. -- JERRY BECK, Animation Historian Review: Excellent quality, lots of laughs - Not PC though 😁 Review: Just like I remembered them - Terrific cartoons

Pure GOLD.
So many of us have been waiting for decades to see Tex Avery's MGM cartoons given the treatment they so obviously deserve. Was it worth the wait? YES. These cartoons have never looked this good. Of course the content is exceptional. Zany stuff that's guaranteed to make you laugh. Mr. Avery continues to be my all-time favorite because he created a style that was truly unique and different. Wild, unpredictable, and amazingly self-aware...these cartoons are PURE GOLD. And WELL WORTH the price. Many may not realize that during his time with Warner Bros. Mr. Avery [a] gave Bugs Bunny his personality (including the "What's Up Doc?" line), [b] created the Daffy Duck character, and [c] transformed Porky Pig into the character we all know and love today. Can't wait to see the next batch. Hats off to the folks at Warner Bros. for cleaning up this fantastic collection of classic cartoons.

Tex Avery always great, Blu Ray ok
So I was expecting this blu ray to have special features or something besides just a plain menu, subtitles and the cartoons. It feels like someone took a blank blu ray disc uploaded the cartoons (the way people use to make mix tapes) and then slapped it in a box. Granted these are GREAT cartoons, nothing is detracting from that but I'm glad I only paid $10 for this because otherwise I would have really felt cheated. Whatever the case I am happy to own this great collection.

Nothing screwy about Tex Avery
Tex Avery is a legend in the cartoon world and this collection is some of his best, crazy, and laughable cartoons one can buy and the 4K is just great! I'm glad I have the physical discs because just remember that if you bought the movies on digital, they're only good until the licenses to watch them expire and you no longer own the movies! It's true. Go look it up!

Finally!!
At long last we get the cartoon Holy Grail. We have waited way too long for a U.S. release of the Tex Avery cartoons. It's too bad it's not a complete box set of all his work like the French box set. But hopefully the sales from this will help to get out the rest. Restored and remastered, I'm sure these are going to be absolutely beautiful. I actually bought a blue ray player just for this release. Can't wait to have it. Edit: Got it out of the mailbox before work today and just couldn't wait to see it. This is how these masterpieces are meant to be seen. In vivid full color and detail. This is a far cry from the dull, often scratchy tv prints that I saw as a child back in the 1970's that the French box set is likely sourced from. The restoration is beautiful and i know this is the way the films looked on the big screen so many years ago. I surely hope the sales from this release will bring forth the rest of the Tex Avery catalog. Maybe we can now wish for a release of the MGM one shots, and the rest of the Looney Tunes/Merry Melodies and the Happy Harmonies. 2nd Edit: Could all the people who are complaining and giving one star ratings to this project because it is released only on Blu Ray please consider this. It seems we are lucky that the project even came to fruition. DVD is about to go the way of the cassette and Blu Ray probably will too, since now it's all about streaming services. A Blu Ray player costs no more than a DVD player, and can play your DVDs too. I bought a Blu Ray player specifically so I can enjoy this . Why can't the negative people do the same? And this is the 2nd time I went the extra mile for Tex Avery cartoons because a few years ago I bought a region free DVD player specifically because I bought the Tex Avery French box set. A true fan and collector should have no problem with doing this. Just saying.

Absolutely brilliant! Works like a treat on my PS5!
Hands down, some of the funniest pieces of classic animation of the Golden Age, Tex Avery was one of a kind, a true genius! If you like Tex Avery, then you'll love this collection. I'm happy to say that it works like a treat on my PS5, so that's made it better as I didn't have to panic about picking up a multi region Blu Ray player. Though it has no special features of commentary, only subtitles, it's still a joy to watch this uncut and restored to it's beauty, I never laughed so much in my life, the gags, jokes, stories, everything is guaranteed to make you laugh. PLEASE REMEMBER: These cartoons were a product of their time, so watch with caution. With that being said, do yourselves a favor and go pick up a copy of this masterpiece collection. It'll brighten anyone's day when in the mood for some cartoon classics.

Red Hot Riding Hood (Mai 1943) 2. Who killed Who? (Juni 1943) 3. What`s Buzzin Buzzard? (November 1943) 4. Betty Baseball (April 1944) 5. The Hick Chick (Juni 1946) 6. Bad Luck Blackie (Januar 1949) 7. Garden Gopher (September 1950) 8. The Peachy Cobbler (Dezember 1950) 9. Symphony in Slang (Juni 1951) 10. Screwbal Squirrel (April 1944) 11. The Screwy Truant (Januar 1945) 12. Big Heel-Watha (Oktober 1944) 13. Lonesome Lenny (März 1946) 14. Hound Hunters (April 1947) 15. Red Hot Rangers (Mai 1947) 16. Dumb-Hounded (März 1943) 17. Wags to Riches (August 1949) 18. The Chump Champ (November 1950) und 19.
