Prince in 2015. love this cd, but prince gets hit and run down by so called fans.
Prince has always been the kinda artist that dose what he wants, and most the time dose it well. I think the problem with cd is not the music or the songs, but the so called fans. Prince dose not like to be put in a box, but some of his so called fan who are waiting for purple rain 2, guess what guys, it is not gonna happen. I think these fans have just grown to old for new music in 2015 .As for Prince he likes to be fresh and new. One guy on here gave this cd one star because he did not like the cover artwork, another calls this cd gross, what? Another so called fan gives 2 past cds 1 star . I dont call these people fans at all. For me, I hear hints of The Time, The family, Vanity 6, Sheila E. All groups made by the Starr Company. The first song start with a sample of lets go crazy then turns into a fun pop tune, Shut this thing down gets and sounds like old funky prince, Fall in love 2 night is dance that meet up with the pet shop boys, This could b us is that slow jam R&B grove , Like a mack has pop radio play with rap and one of my favs is June, that has a joni mitchell style with a prince twist. I love the pop friendly sound, I like that the songs are short and to the point. I hope Phase Two sounds alot like this cd. I have been a prince fan for over 30 some years, there are things that have been great, not so great and ok, but for this artist to be called GROSS is just way off. Haters gonna hate. And some fans have just grown to old to understand. Well,If you dont like his music ,than do not buy it . But by all means, please dont write reviews that go from just dumb to you just dont know anything about music. This review is for all the 2 and 1 star reviewers on here. You know who you are. Hit and run is a cd that shows Prince can still put out great music and be just as current as artists half his age. Long live the Prince. xoxo.

Check it out
Listen without bias. This is a great album. There has been a lot of negative review surrounding this record and I get it... everybody hears music differently just like people perceive reality differently. I've finally learned to stop listening to music with my expectations but rather enjoy the art for exactly what it is. Prince has always been way ahead of my time (with the exception of Diamonds and Pearls, 0+>, and Gold Experience) and for some reason in the past it's taken me years to finally go back and listen to some of the albums with true appreciation for the music and really enjoy. For some reason PlectrumElectrum, Art Official Age, and HitnRun have hit me just right. I finally bought these albums this week and have been listening every chance I get. I've been listening to Prince since 1978 (when I was 2 years old - thanks Mom) so more than a few weeks without Prince blaring through my speakers is an exception and worthy of withdraw. As a side note, the politics and BS surrounding his career and contracts is complete crap and I absolutely refuse to buy in to Tidal or any other exclusive membership in which he releases his music. Make it available on physical media and I'll buy it. Hell I'd go back to 8track if I had to, just keep it in record stores. Waiting on the next HitnRun album. :) Oh also - a moment from track 7 - X's Face - A moment reminiscent of Morris Day - I wanted to scream "JEROME!" If you can figure that out.

Great album!
Love this album, I don't care what anyone says about the production, or how far Prince veered off his typical sound.

Prince still a "KING"
Prince has been doing this for so long now its just expected that the album will be put together with love and a huge effort. This album is far and away a disappointment in the fact that it is only 38 minutes long, the music is absolutely some of the best Prince has ever done. From the first track "Million $ Show" he starts us off with a tease of past glory then hits us with this song out of the gate. Judith Hill voice is strong an Prince is almost relegated to a back up singing roll. Track two we start to dive into this album with "Shut This Down" then "Ain't About 2 Stop". We think we understand the album and he drops "Like A Mack" on us. Gives your sound system a nice workout. "This Could be Love" and "Fallinlove2nite" Prince staples. We move into "X'S Face" drives the base right into our souls. "Hardrocklover" shows he is not to be put into a category. He is so much more (and always has been) the a R&B artist, What he can do with a guitar makes him one of the top three guitarist of all time. His voice still as strong as it was 30 years ago. "Mr. Nelson" once again a through back to earlier album but some how still original. Then sadly we end with "1000X'S &O'S" & "June". From a life long fan I am upset that it is only 38 minutes long. I will be waiting with baited breath for Hit N Run phase two, I hope sooner then later.

Go on with your bad self
Not four stars in relation to the true Prince classics (anything from 'Dirty Mind' up to 'Graffiti Bridge') but rather the four stars is relative to the highly uneven output Prince has released over the last decade-plus. This is the first time in a while that I've really been motivated to keep re-listening to a new Prince album. I do think this is better than Art Official Age, in fact, while it does have a number of things in common with it. Maybe I'm the only one, but I actually prefer the moody, darker version of "This Could B Us" on HitnRun to the original on Art Official. This album just has a great sense of forward momentum. The opening four cuts are all supercharged with energy and a celebratory spirit. I love the guest vocal appearances by Judith Hill on the title track and rap duo Curly Fryz on "Like a Mack." The second half has some simpler productions with less sonic ornamentation - creating a nice contrast between the two halves. "X's Face" is just a killer groove. "1000 Xs & Os" is a true classic - an older song originally intended for Rosie Gaines and then Nona Gaye. "June" is almost on the same level - it's hypnotic and the lyrics are intriguing lyrics.
