Great headset...until it broke.
I have owned my PX4 headset for about six months now, and was 100% happy and satisfied with them until an incident about a month ago. In order to use the microphone, your headset must be connected to the PS4 controller via a short cord. Previously this never bothered me, but on this occasion I had the controller and headset connected via the cord, and while the controller was sitting in my lap I accidentally dropped it about a foot and a half to the floor. The connecting cord tugged pretty hard on the headset, and actually cracked the plastic on the thin strip that connects the headphones to the thicker padded section - on both sides! This thinner section is the part that slides in and out of the thicker padded part when you adjust the headphones to comfortably cover your ears, and has two layers with wires between. On one side the outer plastic cracked in two spots and a quarter-inch sized section fell off of just the outer layer, while on the other side both layers cracked almost all the way through. Initially, this was my favorite gaming headset ever. They were a gift to me from my wife (I researched and picked out this model. ) I haven't owned many other high end headsets so I don't have much to compare them to, but in my opinion the sound quality was great. I used these for watching movies, lots of gaming, and in-game chatting. The battery life is excellent, I love that the mic is removable because I don't always use it, and once I figured out how to use the control buttons mounted on the headset they were fairly easy and useful. My only complaints are 1) Poor quality construction, and 2) If I connect the charging cord while using these they pick up faint radio signals, so can't charge and game at the same time. All in all, I really wanted to love these and use them for years to come. I really like almost everything about this headset, but for $100 or more, I feel you should expect more than 6 months of use from them. I am currently watching the crack on the one side of my headset slowly grow, and while I wait for them to someday snap and become trash I have started to look for a new headset. Would I recommend? I *really* wish I could, because I *loved* this headset right up until the moment it broke. Unfortunately, I feel the quality of construction just isn't there, especially at the price point. If you're looking for a quality headset, I advise looking elsewhere.

Honest review after 1.5 years of use
I have purchased this product for XBOX 360 and continued using it for a new PS4. Been using this product thoroughly for the past 1.5 yrs. It still works great. Pros: - sounds GREAT, especially when using the bass+treble boost equalizer mode. - multiple virtual surround speaker configurations. Had best results with all speakers at 45 degrees left/right/front/back to hear people sneaking up on you in shooter games. - battery life is surprisingly long. Will easily last me 1-2 weeks of gaming 1-3 hours a day. - Works wireless unless using party chat which requires the attached "talk-back cable". - Charging cable is very long, easily allowing to charge while playing in the living room at a 3-4 meter distance from a TV. - Detachable microphone, also is switchable. - robust build (Does not feel cheap) without a scratch after over 1.5 years of extended use, fits well on my head, does not cause any significant discomfort even in long gaming sessions. - bluetooth is still usable to connect to a smartphone, allowing you to receive calls and answer via microphone. - microphone monitor (with separate volume toggle on the headset) allows you to hear yourself in the speakers so you don't shout at your friends (could have had stronger max volume actually) - this and other headsets are a must to avoid disturbing wife/kids. - specific games with surround sound support on PS4 are mindblowing (specifically: Battlefield 4 and The Last of Us are notable in terms of the audio quality). - Aesthetically fits PS4 well (black/blue color scheme, router is a slanted parallelogram that looks like it belongs on top of a PS4). - The headphone wireless router connects to the console via digital audio, allowing you to still have your console connected to a TV with an HDMI cable and play audio from the TV and headphones at the same time. Cons: - "talk-back cable" that came with it did not have a mute/vol toggle on it (was just a cable). Required a separate purchase to be able to control and balance in-game vs. chat volume, disconnecting cable to mute. For chat on current gen this headset cannot use Bluetooth (this is because of Sony not supporting it). this cable is a minor nuisance only connecting to the dualshock 4/xbox controller. Without this cable, you can only control master volume with sliders on the headset, and have to change chat volume in the console menu. - sometimes has minor audible hum that comes and goes. It uses dual-wireless so could be just electrical interference in my living room. Overall this is an excellent product well worth the cash. Newer models have gone completely wireless (party chat included) but seem to have lower audio quality overall? After 1.5 yrs with it, nothing ever broke off and works great, no reason to purchase another headset in the near future. You could probably spend more for a higher end model if you are a serious audiophile or consider yourself a "pro gamer" (whatever that means...)

Previous PX5 Owner
I am coming from a few years of using a pair of PX5s. They were programmable from a Windows PC and had some decent sound settings to isolate footsteps, etc. These only have very basic settings, so if you are a serious gamer who wants to isolate sounds, like footsteps, look elsewhere. These are decent headphones, but they only have four basic sound settings, normal, treble, bass, and treble & bass. There is also a four stop limiter button to cut out sounds that are too loud from damaging your eardrums. The chat is bluetooth, but PS4 doesn't support it as of yet. So, the PX4's use a cable to connect to the controller for chat until bluetooth is enabled. Be sure to change the PS4 device output settings on the controller to only chat, not all, because "all audio" switches off the optical out. You can control the volume and sound (chat or all) sent to the controller by pressing the PS button on the controller and selecting devices. The volume change happening in a PS4 menu is a pain. So, I have mine set to max, and adjust the main sound down. The PX4's do use a overall volume logic with the limiter button so that top end volume is cut back if things get too loud. When bluetooth is enabled on the PS4, you should be able to use the mute, and volume control buttons. Oh, why buttons for chat volume? Was a dial that much more expensive to include? (there is a dial for the main volume, but not for the chat volume) I had some cutting out of power on the transmitter, not sure what was happening there. I thought it may have been problems between the USB 3.0 outlet and what appears to be a USB 2.0 plug from the transmitter. I plugged the transmitter into a PC USB outlet that is always on, and that problem seems to have gone away. (Or, it could have been I wasn't using the headphones and it shut off. I noticed the transmitter turns on when I turn on the headset and turns off when I turn off the headset.) Sound quality: Decent enough. I didn't notice any transmission interference like I did with the PX5s. Build: Cheaper than the PX5s, the cup of which eventually broke and survived by using plastic ties to engineer a fix. No customizable sound settings, i.e., no darth vader or chipmunk voices.... The internal battery is a plus. I used rechargeables with my PX5's, and changing out batteries and recharging was getting old. The drawback will be the battery life and having to replace it with something proprietary from TB. Cons: chat cable is a temporary measure until Bluetooth is enabled, but expect Sony to fix the Bluetooth in the near future once other bugs are fixed. No verbal menu cues , "Powering Off", "Bluetooth Powering On", etc. You only get a series of beeps only R2D2 would understand....I'll figure it out. I suppose the PX4 will compete with the Sony PS headsets, and they are similarly priced (more expensive though). I don't have a pair of the Sonys so, I can't do a comparison. They do sound decent. Bottom line: They are a good but cheap version of a high end headset. They also work with the PS4 (although currently you have to use the chat cable until the PS4's bluetooth is enabled for chat).

DON'T BUY!!! READ BEFORE!!! (ASTRO A50's 100%)
Now I know my tech and when I say don't buy you better listen and save yourselves alot of trouble because I bought into the crap they're trying to sell us now.. This headset has terrible chat quality on the PS4 with the 3.5mm jack and aslo on the PC with bluetooth.. On the PS4 you can't adjust the volume of the chat and on skype the sound is horrible with bluetooth.. I also picked up radio signals randomly hearing music in my headset consistently.. This headset is not completely wireless because of the cable you have to use to chat on the PS4.. Product seemed defective or maybe they're just that bad.. Game sound was really good no problems there.. I returned them about a week ago for a full refund and bought a pair of Astro A50's refurb ($199.99) and I will never buy another gaming headset as long as I live.. For $50 more these are flawless in every way, comfort, style, sound quality and the best part is it's completely wireless and PC chat on skype is crystal clear and you can play music from your pc or phone wireless into the headphones.. Cheaper is not always better and if you are low on cash just use a pair of Beats or other headphones and plug it into your PS4 controller and you get surround sound and it sounds pretty damn good to my surprise..

EDIT: A flawed headset
FINAL EDIT: After some use with games and movies, I've come to the conclusion that this headset just isn't worth the money. The build quality is just not good. At first it didn't bother me as much, but after a week it's become seriously annoying. You can just tell that it's not a quality product - each component is probably the cheapest available option. It felt like I had spent a lot of money so I really wanted them to be good but they just weren't... It does it's job "okay" but, in the end, it's not worth $150. It just isn't. I bought a pair of Sennheiser's that will work with the PS4 and the difference in sound is unbelievable! The best part? The Sennheiser's were $50 cheaper. So that's where my PX4 experience ends. Turtle Beach is officially on my list of "popular but poor quality brands." I'm returning my PX4s on Monday. Cheers ORIGINAL REVIEW: I bought this in anticipation of the PS4 release. I've been using it with my PS3 in the meantime. Pros: For a headset, the sound is pretty darn good. If these were standalone headphones, then I would expect better for $150, but factoring in the wireless capability and the mic, I certainly can't complain. The surround sound works well - it definitely gives you that cinematic feel. Since it uses a wifi signal, the range is excellent. There is no signal distortion or anything of that nature. They are very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. EDIT: Adding detachable mic to the pros list. EDIT: Adding battery life to the pros list. The battery lasts forever and charges relatively quickly. Cons: The build quality could be a little better. Nothing's breaking, but the plastic is cheap and the WiFi box feels hollow and far too lightweight. Getting these to work with the PS3 was actually a challenge. The instructions don't clearly show how to set everything up. In the end I realized that I needed to hold down the "pairing" button on the WiFi box while also holding down the power button on the headphones. That was the only way I could get them to actually connect. While this is definitely not a deal-breaker, it can be sort of annoying. Bottom line: This is a decent headset, even for the price. I would go so far as to recommend it to anyone looking for a gaming or cinematic wireless headset. I wish the plastic was better quality, and I wish it was heavier, but other than that everything is built pretty well. The lack of proper instructions was annoying. There isn't even a PDF on the Turtle Beach website, which is something that really should exist. Still, with some trial and error, I figured it out. All-in-all I like them and look forward to using them with my PS4. Cheers.

Great headphones that doesn't come with any instructions
Turtle Beach Ear Force PX4 is a great little product. The sound quality is amazing, it blocks outside noise and the battery life is very long. But there are two big issue with this set, both of which stem from Turtle Beach's bad messaging. First, according to Turtle Beach these headphones don't have PC support - which is a lie. If you simply connect the headphone's base to a PC using an AUX cable it works wireless like a charm. Since this is a premium product you would expect this feature to be written on the box and an AUX cable to be supplied with the headphones but, alas, this feature is hidden from sight. The second, bigger issue, is that these headphones doesn't come with any instructions. This is baffling, to say the least. Why do I need to go on YouTube or Google just to find out how to connect my headphones to a PS4? It shouldn't be like that and Turtle Beach should be ashamed that this information doesn't come in the box nor is it written anywhere in their website (which only has old PS3 instructions). To this day I still have no idea what the buttons on my headphones do, accept for the on/off and volume buttons. If you want an awesome set of headphones that will give you wireless 5.1 sound on a PS4 these are the headphones for you. Just take into consideration that you will have to find out how these headphones work by yourself, because once the headphones arrive at your doorstep that's when Turtle Beach stops caring.

A little disappointed...
A comfortable, sturdy headset with some minor issues. Sounds great on my xbox one (via optical). I was very impressed with this. But I game on multiple platforms, so I decided to give these a try. However, when using as analog(on pc via 3.5mm and transmitter), the is a constant white noise (humming) in the background. It is even worse without the transmitter! (mini to 3.5mm direct to headset). While im confident that optical would solve this, it was still disappointing. Quite a bit of crackling in moments of intense bass via analog as well (havent tested optical for bass distortion). And while the set is bluetooth compatible, do not expect to stream music via BT! BT is only for phone useage! Not sure thats really mentioned anywhere in descriptions, so it was also a disappointment. At 99.00, I kinda feel like I could have gotten a better deal with another manufacturer. I havent decided if I will send them back... At a lower price probably 4 stars.

The only option I have and its meh...
The wireless receiver is not very great on these. I had issues on the PS4 with my friends telling me my voice was laggy/choppy. I remedied this problem by moving the wireless sensor as high as I could and away from the console, and I sit 4-5 feet away from the receiver. Its so silly, a wired connection would be way more reliable and likely offer better sound quality, so the moment those become an option I will definitely be switching. The PS3 Pulse Elite have this tiny USB dongle receiver, and it somehow transmits crystal clear 7.1 surround with absolutely no choppy or laggy chat, go figure, but alas, not compatible with the PS4 yet. The headphones themselves are pretty decent. The sound quality is great, the padding is comfortable, and the weight is low. I still wish TB made ear cups that were angled in more as these still press against my ears and hurt after a while. I feel like I have normal sized ears, so this it unfortunate. I do however play for long hours, so maybe this is inevitable. Personally, I wouldn't recommend these. I would look into other (wired) options.
