Worked right away, and over and over
I live in a rural area, so mice are a reality, especially when they are looking for a warm shelter from the cold Pennsylvania winter. I don't believe in killing any of God's creatures, but I can't have them chewing up my house, eating my food, or keeping me up at night by scurrying around inside my walls, so humane traps are the way to go. I tried other types of humane traps in the past, but it was too easy for the mice to escape them. These solid plastic tubes don't have that problem. The long, narrow design entices the mice to enter, as if it is one of their own holes. The weight-activated trap door closes securely behind them, trapping them inside, with no possible means of exit. The tubes are long enough that the mouse is safely past the trap door mechanism when it closes, so that they are not injured by it. The bait is securely sealed, so the mice are drawn to it, yet cannot access it. This design seems to be near perfect. I followed the instructions by placing them along walls, near corners, or near possible entry points. Obviously, it helps to put them in areas where you have already seen mice or the remnants of their presence. I did not follow the suggestion of baiting the traps with peanut butter. I have never in my life seen any proof of mice getting into peanut butter, and that would be a mess to clean out each time. I suggest going with whatever food item the mice in your particular house seem to like the most. At my parents' house, it was dry dog food. At my house, it was deer corn. This endeavor was hugely successful. Within the first 2 weeks of using these humane traps, I caught and relocated 12 mice. I didn't even realize there were so many in my house. We had cold temperatures and snow during that time period, so some of them may have been new to my home, replacing those I had evicted. Make sure you release them a few miles away from your home, so they don't come right back in. The only drawback of this product is that the bait chamber is a little hard to remove and reinsert. I have found that the best method is to turn the entire trap upside down, pull down the bait compartment, fill it with deer corn, then press the rest of the trap down onto the bait chamber. Otherwise, the bait would spill out. When releasing mice from the trap, you do so by removing the bait compartment, opening that end of the tube for the mouse to run out (although they are reluctant to come out if it is especially cold out). As I said, the bait chamber is somewhat hard to remove, so this process takes getting used to. Also, the bait will spill out during the release process, but at least that will give the homeless mouse something to eat. All in all, it is a great product, well designed, and sold at a reasonable price. It was been very effective at catching mice within my home. Now, if I could just find a way to keep them from entering my house in the first place...

Easy and effective
The traps are incredibly easy to use and there's no fear of hurting your fingers while setting it, unlike traditional spring traps. I filled the bait cups with peanut butter and caught four mice within a few days. Unlike other traps, the mice will not be injured or killed and they can be released away from your home or put down more humanely with CO2 gas. Cleaning the traps is usually quite straightforward, but there are nooks and crannies that can be a bit hard to scrub out if the trapped mice defecate in the trap. The included sponge cleaner works quite well though and it's safe and easy to soak in cleaner or disinfectant since the entire trap is made of durable plastic. The absolute best thing about this trap though is that the mice are NOT killed. Traditional traps can be quite cruel and can leave messes that will attract more pests. If you absolutely must kill the mice, you can place the entire trap (with the mouse still inside) in a deep bucket, place another tub in the bucket, fill the smaller tub with baking soda and vinegar, seal the top, and wait a bit. This method creates CO2 gas that sinks to the bottom of the bucket, makes the mouse unconscious, and then suffocates the mouse while it is unconscious. I think it is much easier to simply take the trap several miles from your home and release them into the wild (as is suggested in the included instructions), but some people (especially city dwellers who live far from the wilderness) may still want to completely get rid of the mouse in a more peaceful manner than snapping their spines with a spring trap.

Real Person Here: Very Successful Trap!
I'll go by bullet points for each topic here. - Easy to use: Directions included, although having some typos, are pretty clear, and easy to understand. Extremely simple. - Easy to remove: Once you have your trapped rodent (or other creature) relocated to the area of your choice, just simply remove the "bait" end the same way you did to put the bait inside in the first place. The little guy/gal should run right out in whatever direction it's facing, no need to touch them. If they're scared, just give the trap a little shake and they'll get the message. - Easy to clean: Not that it's "difficult" to clean, it's just slightly more involved than cleaning a flat dish. I used peanut butter as bait in the compartment, sovwith some hot water, a spray hose attachment with my sink, and a Q-tip to get tight corners/edges, it became squeaky clean in around 3 minutes. Really easy, just a little more time consuming than 10 seconds. - Finally, Effectiveness: 5/5 stars, easily. I set the trap in the kitchen area where I've seen mice a few times before heading to bed. I turned out the lights, and about 20 minutes after I had lied down, I heard the door snap shut from the kitchen. Went to check, and bam, there it was in the trap, probably monologuing to itself about how it got there. Dropped it off in the woods a few miles away, set up the trap again, and there was another one in the trap by the morning. Closing thoughts: I don't know what the 1 or 2 star ratings are about. They made me skeptical to buy this, but now having used it, I'm sure some people got defective products, and that sucks, but I have a feeling some of those are due to human error. This trap works very well, and it's a great bang for my buck. Don't sit on this too long, because I'm sure it'll help. Have a good day, and good luck catching your soon to be evictees, and please treat them humanely!

Great! exceptโฆ..
Well, I caught about 10 mice in four days. I used the first two and then I ended up ordering four more. They are very easy to load and to set the trap. They catch them every time! I used peanut butter. The only issue was that after a couple of times it was difficult to Make the trap door stay open. I think it had to do with the rabbit poops that were stuck inside. But it was difficult to clean it out & I ended up throwing them out. . The end where you put the peanut butter or whatever you choose, at first I couldnโt figure out how to open it because the direction say squeeze the sides at the bottom and lift. Thatโs not how you do it. You just take your thumb and push up at the bottom center. Anyway after a few days the mice got smart and started chewing on the air holes at the top. You can see from my picture to my surprise one of them actually got out! I saw him there at night and left him under the sink until morning when I was going to let him outside. But in the morning when I looked he was gone! Houdini! The hole was not much bigger than my finger nail!

What next after catching them
Worked great. The issue came when you have to dispose of the live mice. Where are you supposed to drop off live mice? I wanted them to have a sporting chance so I took them to my exes house

Perfect except one thing...
EDIT!!!!! ****** 1 MOUSE CAUGHT! We have released the (very fat... darn cat food) little bugger and have resprung the trap! So, for us, the peanut butter enough was not enough to cut it. We only had success after we sprinkled cat food into the trap. Bumped up the star rating from 3 to 5 since it did eventually work! (Took about 2 weeks total and an adjustment to bait) EDIT #2*** So far 2 MICE CAUGHT! I have high hopes that this strategy is winner. Now I can strongly say that I highly recommend these traps. Just add a little trail of cat or dog food or cheerios or something into the trap. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ (original review) So far no mouse. Let me start at the beginning. I started finding mouse poop in cloth items stored in drawers or on shelves a month or so ago. So we did a full clean up and clear out of everything to minimize where the mouse could hide and climb up to and all that. At first we had thought somehow, magically, the mouse had just left on its own. Great! But of course.. no. Too much optimism is just foolishness, I suppose. Fast forward to me buying these mouse traps. I was so excited because the thought of using the traditional type gave me the serious heebie jeebies. They arrived very quickly! And were easy to set up! We were all just so thrilled. We put a ton of peanut butter in the little trap, as instructed, and set them out where we'd been finding the most evidence of the little buggers. The next morning, with high anticipation, I checked both traps like a kid at Christmas. .... Nothing. Hmm. Okay. Patience is key! Next day. Same thing. Hmm.. okay. The mouse is tricky. No problem, I can play that game. I put some of the cats food in both traps like an enticing trail and put the cats food where the cat could get to it but the mouse could not (I have checked many times, no evidence the mouse is getting to the food). I know the mouse likes the cat food because I found some of it in one of its favorite spots. 2 Days later after that. No luck. Still. I still have a sliver of hope though and may add some other irresistible food to the trap this evening, but another family member is finding less resistance to just buying the old fashioned kind. Fingers are crossed that they work tonight!!!

ONLY GOOD FOR ONE CATCH
I bought these because the reviews were so good. I have not had the same experiences as most other reviewers, however. I live in the rural countryside and get lots of mice. I used to use the humane traps that look like little motelsโฆbut those arenโt available anymore ( they cost a bit more but were excellent and long lasting)โฆso I had to give these a try. They are easy to set up and to release the mouseโฆbut after one catch, they are unable to be set again. I never aggressively clean traps because mice will always go where other mice have beenโฆbut will not go near anything that smells of bleach or cleaner. ( Edifying that the problem is not because I messed them up by cleaning them). The little piece that is attached to the weight sensor plate seems to move just a bit back when it goes off , and then the trap can not be set again. I had used the other humane traps for 12 years (when we moved to this property, there were lots of miceโฆthey are probably in the wallsโฆbut I do not want to kill them)โฆwith great success. There reached a point where there seemed to be no more mice in the houseโฆand I began to see a few spiders aroundโฆwhich told me that the mice were gone. ( Yesโฆthe mice take care of the spiders and centipedesโฆso if you have a lot of mice, you will rarely see a spider or centipedeโฆwhich is kind of a little caveat to having the mice). I now have only one trap that has been used more than once. I also tried the orange trapsโฆone was already broken upon deliveryโฆand the other needs a heavier weight mouse to set it offโฆ.small mice just go in, look around and leave. Someone needs to fix these issues.

Didn't need to use, but look like they'd work well.
The night I set these traps out, my cat caught the mouse in the house. Ewwww.... Although not used, they seem like they'd work well, and it was easy to clean them. It's also easy if to lift the slide at the back of the trap to let the unharmed mouse out of the trap. They were smaller than I expected from the picture on the web, but seem to be an ok size. They are a good value for the money, and I like the cleaning brush that comes with them.

Caught the mouse in three days
it caught the mouse in three days; the mouse was super healthy, so I released it in the wild. N.B. You need to be patient to catch the mouse, and it will be better to put the trap in front of the mouse's hiding spot

Easy to use and works as advertised
Product was easy to setup and caught two mice within the first 24hrs putting peanut butter in the bait section of the trap. Very happy after thinking I only had one mouse to deal with.
