Good stuff
I've always considered myself a retro game console aficionado but this book still had a ton of stuff I'd never heard of.A nice complement to watching Mattchat on youtube!

In depth, but lacking some important consoles.
Pretty good book. Goes in depth, but is lacking some of lesser known consoles. I wish it had the 3DO, Jaguar, Saturn, CDi, etc. Those consoles that failed are just as important to the industry as the Playstation's and SNES's. Also, they are fun to read about!

Hits a Nostalgic High Note...
Retro gamers rejoice! Loguidice & Barton bring you the quintessential gaming platform tome for the ages. From archaic 1970s PCs to early 21st-century consoles, the authors deliver compelling narratives of the featured hardware & why the machines were top dogs in their respective periods. More than just outlining these greatest of pixel pushers , they cover the glamor titles that brought gamers of the day countless hours of pure bliss. Getting one's physical hands on some of the artifacts presented in the text, particularly anything predating the legendary NES, may prove fruitless for all but the most ardent. But fear not. The solution filling the void is competent emulation software from which the authors recommend as the most capable. For the enthusiast with a penchant for classic gaming rigs, 'VGC' is a fantastic reference.

Excellent!!!
I'm a video game fan. Since I first saw an Atari 2600. But it really took me to a whole new level when I saw Zaxxon from Sega in the arcades. The first console I ever owned was a garage sale Nintendo NES. Then a Sega Genesis, SNES, Saturn and Dreamcast. This book made me relive those experiences, with enough information on these systems - and more - to keep my interest for hours upon hours.I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in video games. From the casual player to the die-hard fan. Bill and Matt did a wonderful job presenting a lot of information in a very concise and easy to read format. An excellent, 5-star read!!!!

Nice job!
I bought this book along with "Games Machines 1971-2012--The History of Consoles, Handhelds, and Home Computers". I don't like this book as much as the one I just mentioned. There are plenty of photos and text to go along with it, but it doesn't seem to be as laid-out as well. Sometimes I found myself re-reading the text to find out where the specific console was being described. This is why i gave it 4 stars instead of 5. However, the book was still a great buy and is definitely a nice companion to the other book as well. Definitely pick this one up well if you're thinking about getting the other.
