Prepare to Dye Shampoo

I originally bought it to use before dyeing my hair with henna, but I liked it so much that I use it once a week to remove buildup from my shampoo bar. I have a sensitive scalp, and it doesn't irritate it. I have sensitivity to fragrances, so I was really happy that It has a nice smell that's not overwhelming. I recommend not buying it during winter months. The first bottle likely froze in transit, so it became a thick gel, and it was hard to get it out of the bottle. This one was perfectly fine.

This shampoo does a great job of removing product build up from the hair and preparing it for color if desired. I used it without conditioner follow-up, so it left my hair drier than usual and more tangly. But, it was soft and manageable once dried.

It works really good. My hair was fading unbelievably quick. It’s purple and it kept going pink. I used this shampoo before using attic fix dye and bam finally! The color has lasted so much longer, stayed really bright also. My hair had looked dull before. I would give this 5 stars but it does dry my hair out really bad. I have healthy hair so I just used a deep conditioner at the end of every thing. My hair feels great. If you have dry or damaged hair, I’m not sure that I’d use this. If I did, I’d dilute it and use a great conditioner and then some leave in or oil before you style it!

Don’t expect it to get all the color out after one application…BUT it really does fade vivid colors. I use super warm water when I use it. Just be patient and make sure to use a good, deep conditioner after, and maybe even add in a good leave in for extra hydration. I’ll definitely buy this again. Pic on the left is 5 days before, and on the right is five days after. I used the shampoo three times total.

I ordered this shampoo in hopes that it would remove my demi-permanent hair dye. I have been using it for a week and I have noticed that my hair has lightened up some but it has not removed dye. It does seem to be a great clarifying shampoo and I am sure will expedite the process of the demi-permanent dye coming out but it is not meant to remove hair dye.

I recently have gotten back into hair extensions. I use tape in extensions, which leave a bit of residue that needs to be combed out with bond remover. The bond remover can be pretty oily, depending on brand/type, and between the oily bond remover and residual tape residue, I needed (and still do need) some hard core shampoo that would removal all foreign oils/substances. This stuff works great!!! My hair made literal 'squeaky clean' sounds as I was running my fingers through it, all the way to the ends, pushing water out of my hair. I couldn't believe it... I have heard of the expression 'squeaky clean' before, I've even used it myself to describe something that has been cleansed really well, but I have never actually heard the 'squeak' of 'squeaky-clean' before. I have bleach platinum blonde #1001 type hair, so I am not sure how this would fair on colored/dyed hair. My hair does not have any color/dye and it did a fantastic job of cleaning my hair. I washed my hair twice. I would have only done 1 wash as it was clean/residue free to me, but there is a reason why shampoo bottles say rinse and repeat. So I washed it twicem

FYI, this is NOT a shampoo that you should be using regularly. It does it's job well, which is to remove build up, help strip some color, or prepare hair for hair extension application. Do not use this unless you have a specific use

The smell is great. Very inoffensive. My hair actually felt really good afterward. I DID have to take the cap off, though. It's VERY thick and difficult to squeeze out. All in all, though, it's good stuff. I recommend it, especially for a pre-dye wash.

Huele bastante bien para lo que son estas cosas. En mi caso llevaba una mezcla de varios tintes, no solo manic panic, así que no sé cómo será sólo con tinte de la marca. No quita todo el tinte previo (en mi caso) pero ayuda a que se vaya el color. Deja el pelo bastante seco, pero es normal con este tipo de productos. Si no tienes prisa y tienes paciencia, va haciendo.

This did so much better than I expected it to. Long story short, I ended up with hot, brassy roots and black hair. After one wash this brought the brassiness down immensely and after two washes it's practically gone and my hair feels nice and clean. The black is fading slightly but I'm hoping after a few more washes it will dull down even more. Obviously dries hair out a bit but adding a leave-in conditioner afterwards helped. Would definitely recommend.

I have very dry damaged bleached hair and this shampoo made it even more dry and hard to comb through but that just means it did its job. It’s supposed to strip your hair of everything so you have a fresh base to work with, and that’s exactly what it did. I’d say that’s a good thing because manic panic hair dye tends to cling to dryer more coarse hair anyway which makes it brighter and last longer. Plus the hair dye itself is very conditioning so does help the dryness. Just make sure to use a hair mask and leave in hair serum for the next few washes to keep your hair looking soft !
