How deep is it when full?

I can't answer that as mine is not yet full, I imagine it would be about four inches thick.

Are the individual pockets closed at the bottom? I want to store lesson resources including small cards etc.

Yes, the pockets are sealed at the bottom but for my purposes, I also use open at the top, coloured sleeves and open on two sides plastic, coloured folders to further divide each section and clear business card and photograph holders. Nifty folder and it holds a fair amount of paperwork. So pleased I chose it.
