Terrific, esp. when Bluetooth plays in both speakers (Edifier is cleared of blame)
As someone who enthused over "high fi" speakers in the 1950s, I'm accustomed to prices that are much higher than these top-rated Edifier transducers, which look sexy and sound smoother than their edgy appearance. My first AR2, or Henry Kloss speaker (also, KLH, Advent, Tivoli) was almost $200 for a single speaker, and my JBL Athena speakers (high efficiency West Coast sound, with a 14" woofer) cost twice that--for a modest-looking, unobtrusive bookshelf speaker with a lattice wood grill). These Edifier S1000's understandably impressed the reviewers ("Consumer Reports"), who placed them ahead of dozens of more expensive speakers. As an audio "purist" who listens to classical music and jazz, my "snobbish" preference is for non-amplifed, "passive" JBL Athena's and Wharfdale's over a powered unit. I was tempted to bring a favorite existing speaker into the living room for use with a TV screen, until questions about placement of amplifier, turntable, albums, etc. led me to look to the convenience of powered speakers with Bluetooth connectivity. Although I hear more natural and realistic piano sounds in my preferred speakers, these powerful Edifiers are superior for movie soundscapes and large orchestral settings. They may not be "quite" as satisfying as very good "passive" speakers, but the convenience, practicality and value made purchase of the Edifier 1000's a no-brainer decision. When not screening (or streaming) movies, I'm listening to jazz recordings on which I'm attentive to the ring of the ride cymbal and the "chic" of the high hat along with pitch-identifiable "walking bass" sounds. Most speakers simply don't capture the force of Art Blakey's drums or the pulse and interplay of Joe Morello's kit. Active speakers simply aren't "tuned" to bring out these sounds, and my passive JBL's simply do a better job in capturing and representing these frequencies as we experience them "in nature." Nevertheless, I'm happy to keep these Edifier powered speakers for my home theater and symphony recordings --- especially now that I've finally begun to solve the problem of BLUETOOTH transmitting ONLY to the left ("passive") speaker. With wired connections--from a player or TV set (using optical cable)--the sound from the Edifier S1000 is strong in both speakers. But when transmitting wirelessly thru Bluetooth (I tried 3 differ iPhones), audio was going to only one speaker. If I were unable to find a fix, I'd return these and try a Bose Soundlink Flex speaker (the reviews are most compelling, and I was amazed by the Bose Soundlink Mini that my wife brought home as part of her deal for a new iPhone). Previously, NBA games on my big Samsung TV were so noisy that the announcers' voices were inaudible for much of the game. Her Bose speaker arrived with its own "internal intelligence," which muted the crowd noise and made the play-by-play come through loud and clear. Edifier is located in China, and I assumed response, if any, would be slow and minimal. To my surprise, a tech person at Edifier immediately answered by question about a channel drop-out. His questions in turn led me back to my iPhone, which revealed that the AT&T store had transferred my old and damaged iPhone unto its replacement, an iPhone 13. Since practically all of my players and transmitters had been corrupted by the "genetic flaw" inherited from the damaged phone, I could give Edifier a pass only after proving that the speakers were capable of reproducing a Bluetooth signal accurately, with each speaker representing the audio information unique to its channel. Finally, I convinced a tech-inclined friend that the problem, in all likelihood, was not with the speakers or with my overly fastidious, demanding temperament. He brought a phone that had not absorbed any of the bad karma in my iPhones, and by using its Bluetooth we determined that the Edifiers were up to speed--violins from left channel; cellos and bass fiddles from right channel; the conductor and the listener right in between these 2 unique sources for a satisfying, accurate, and most realistic soundstage. (Leonard Bernstein's / Stephen Spielberg's "West Side Story" never sounded better!) In conclusion, Edifier is #1--for this speaker and for its responsiveness to consumers' questions. But, finally, I've got to absolve the iPhone from blame. As the character from Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar" says: "The fault lies not with the stars--not even with Apple or Steve Jobs--but with the distracted dude who allows his iPhone to squirt out of his hands and fall to the cement floor below--not once but repeatedly."

They might not flush the toilet or start you car, but they put out great sound and bass.
I've been heavily playing a lot of Vinyl these last few years. I had a set up with some old 90's Q-Sound AIWA book shelf speakers. I'm amazed how long they have lasted me. It really put out some great sound. Still does, but lately the built in bass/sub woofer has been cutting in and out. So I was looking for something to replace them. Low and behold, I took a chance in buying these S1000MKII speakers. I'm so glad I did. I won't claim to be an Audiophile person, but this does just fine in the space I have my music room set up. My worry was getting decent bass, and this definitely does the job. I'm sure there are speakers far more superior. But these sound pretty darn good. Paying nearly $500 for speakers was something I feared, hoping I wouldn't be disappointed. So glad, that isn't the case here. So far... day one, I've used the speakers to play vinyl and a CD. I'm impressed. I'm still figuring out the sound settings, and only able to get any sound when the LED light is green. The red produces no sound for me. I thought I originally had sound with the blue, but after playing around with the Bluetooth feature, I am not able to experience that yet. We'll see what happens. The remote works fine, but I noticed that it doesn't react to the speakers unless you're pointing it directly at a somewhat close distance. But maybe I need to just keep playing with it. In any event, y intention was to replace my old 90's AIWA speakers with something just as good if not better. I think I found the perfect speakers for my set up. I read so many reviews of the speakers below this model, and I'm happy I took the chance in purchasing these. If you're looking for superior sound with good bass, this is it. If the higher models which cost more are better, than they better be flushing my toilet because this produced exactly the sound I was looking for. While I'm a bit picky how things sound, I feel like on the average these are great for any decent sized room and spending any more money would only be looking for bells and whistles that some technical audiophile people are looking for. The look great too. If you got a budhet of $400 to $500 then this will be perfect.

Excellent Speakers
These are great sounding speakers. I was/am pleasantly surprised at their richness and clarity. They are super easy to hook up and use, plugging directly on to my turntable and powered with an AC plug into a wall outlet. I did have to purchase a longer speaker to speaker connecting cable to be able to place my speakers where I wanted them, the one that comes with them is about 15ft long and I got one from the manufacturer that is 9m/29.5ft long so I could run the cable along the wall and behind furniture so that is hidden and out of the way. The remote control works great and is very easy to use. So far the bluetooth has connected to both my iPhone and iPad with no fuss at all. They are just over 13 in tall, 7 in wide, 10 in deep and weigh about 16 lbs each. They also can get very loud with no distortion or hum, but can also play the softer mellow stuff at a nice low level. Also they look pretty good too.

feel a bit overpriced.
At first, I honestly didn’t love them. They felt underwhelming, especially given the hype on Youtube. But over time, they’ve started to grow on me. That said, there are some limitations that are hard to ignore: Pros: Clean, balanced sound – They shine most when used as TV surround sound speakers. Compact and stylish – The wood grain look is sleek and fits in with most setups. Easy setup – Plug-and-play with multiple input options, including Bluetooth and optical. Cons: Overpriced – At around $500, they’re competing with setups that offer much more power and flexibility. No app connectivity – You can’t use Edifier’s app which is frustrating. No multi-speaker pairing – You cannot link these with other Edifier speakers for multi-room audio. Remote dependent – You need the remote to switch inputs, which isn’t ideal if it gets lost or damaged. Final Verdict: If these were closer to $350, I’d probably give them 5 stars. But at $500, it’s hard to justify the cost given the lack of modern features. They sound good, and they’re growing on me—but for the price, I want more.

Excellent speakers in fact incredible I just had a minor issue and it's not really anyone's fault
The speakers are five star hands down I give 10 if I could Unfortunately I had to return them and then I bought them vendor direct Only because the left one kept failing on me I tried reversing the wires around the plug it comes with you know more industrial cell I tried buying a replacement of the same kind and it just wasn't happening since then I purchased a pair of vendor direct and I have not had an issue and you know sometimes it's a gamble when he buy things off Amazon doesn't mean it's their fault either but you know think about how things are quality control rated and there's a cutoff to where they won't bring them to the stores and I'm sure there's a hierarchy of like maybe Best Buy gets like A+ Amazon probably doesn't but sometimes they do maybe I don't know That's just my assumption Like you know your Walmart some place like that might get like an A and B Amazon may have good stuff it's it's really a roll of the dice This may have been like a C rating or something you never know There's ratings that are still passable for sale A company like this makes money because their warehouse and they pay a warehouse overhead but that could also mean you know and it probably does mean that when they're selling these items that are widespread type items you can buy pretty much anywhere They probably aren't getting top quality on those Still because they have such a great return policy there's no reason to not roll the dice and there's no need to go higher than these unless you just really want to they're incredible. I didn't buy them for the Bluetooth use I was running RCAs to them and I was just powering him direct from a gigabyte OLED monitor and they were just incredible I did connect my Galaxy S23 Ultra They're clearly not using an LDAC codec or perhaps it's just that you know Eldac sounds great on a pair of Mobius headphones or Sony XM4s but perhaps just because of speakers are so great you know you could just honestly tell the difference I mean Bluetooth doesn't do it justice However it's nice it has Bluetooth connectivity as an option you know RCA optimum connection I believe it has SPDIF like the coax the orange style if I'm not mistaken it had that you know Bluetooth connectivity it's a jack of all trades but I only use them with a RCA However there's a very very good preamp also for the impedance handling on the monitor to the point where you could actually select 600R which do not do that with powered speakers by the way and I just use you know a nice RCA cable to a 3.5 mm Jack cable and the jack was you know your standard headphone and honestly even my 1280Ts I had no idea they can sound as incredibles they did till I put it on the monitor Now this isn't about the monitor but there's a lot of untapped potential in these speakers depending on what they're hooked up to All of them In fact I'm still using my 1280Ts later at night in place of these on my monitor if I'm not wearing headphones Of course I do love my XM4 using DTS headphone X on my Xbox That sounds incredible using the extra wide spatial audio sound setting and setting the headphones to generic even though it has an XM3 profile there's a major difference in how the speakers are set up for both so anyone who has XM4's and possibly uses XM3 profile Do not do that Use generic over the ear and do yourself a favor and set spatial audio to the ultrawide setting you know whatever it is just take it on and that's all you got to do and even if you remote play you still get that same DTS sound over over remote play over Bluetooth from the phone believe it or not

LIKE BUTTER SMOOTH.
I am not completely new to the speaker market. I first started out with car audio. Not the Boom Boom Bass Rap music type of guy but the clarity Highs and mid kind of guy. I bought a thousand-dollar system for my 1990 Volvo Turbo Wagon. Everything Amped, Pioneer everything, Beautifully clear. One 12 inch Sub. I then met my distant uncle in Tennesee and he introduced me to Quality Bookshelf speakers. I forgot the name of it but even the build itself was of high quality. The speakers were made of wood and it was smaller than these speakers. He had the experience, massive amps, Massive tube amps, turntables, and everything related to audiophile Chad. My god those speakers sounded great. Just clarity, bass, mids, highs were all very well balanced. I wanted something like his. I wanted some quality wood to give it some character, simple design, and ultra low distortion. These speakers are his and more! Don't get me wrong I was skeptical. The first gen S1000 Pro series are known to be a semi entry to the higher end bookshelf/desk speakers. Reviews noted the bass was the good point and that the mids and highs were slightly overshadowed and muddled by the raging bass. Then these speakers came out! The MKII. There were very little reviews on the speakers but I was excited and ready to take the leap since it had all the features I wanted. Integrated all in one amp+speaker design, Bluetooth 5.0, Affordable Pricing, and DSP. DSP is the most important part of giving you that balanced processed audio. So I took the leap! Man it is everything I've ever wanted. The speakers are massive for bookshelf speakers. I am using it for my gaming desktop speakers. They are beautiful and sound great in games. Gunshots sound crisp and Music sounds deep and butter smooth. I listen to Synthwave, Classic, anime music, rock, country, electronic, and some rap. These speakers do very well in all of the categories. Anime music is the hardest to balance due to the screeching highs but Im sure nothing the adjustment knobs in the back can fix. I also doubt most speakers can balance the screech of those Japanese girl voices. :P. The bass on these speakers is great just like the S1000 but the highs and mids are balanced not like the original S1000 reviews said overpowered bass. You can pick out the different instruments during song play and quality stays the same during low & high sound levels. I have Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee headphones, beyerdynamics DT 990 Pros and would rather listen to these beefy speakers than those headphones. The shipping quality was insanely great. Big Heavy box! Double boxed! WELL DONE EDIFIER!!!!! Info: Male, 24 years old, Asian American.

Great speakers
Amazing speakers, amazing sound! Very happy. Don't trust the dimensions given from Amazon and that view in room feature. They are waaaaay off. Apparently 11.5in wide when it is actually around 8in wide
