We LOVE these straws!
I was looking for straws that were easy to clean, and these are perfect. It's so cool how they "zip" open and closed. I wash on the top utensil rack of my dishwasher and they come out clean every time. So much better than trying to clean out a metal straw with a scratchy brush.

Perfect!
I hate hand washing dishes, and my least favorite thing to wash is straws. I also get nervous to use dishwasher safe straws, because it’s so difficult for the dishwasher to actually clean them (I once tasted rotten food in a metal straw, and have since only felt comfortable using see-through plastic straws). Which means that these Rain straws are a lifesaver! I use these Rain straws at least once a day. These straws are everything I was looking for. I was just hoping to find straws that were dishwasher safe, the fact that these come apart was a gigantic plus. I find them very easy to take apart and put back together again. The tracks in the two pieces line up perfectly so that the straw is always perfectly flat in the drinking end. This straw is definitely textured, which takes some getting used to. One side is a matte, slightly rough texture, and the other side is smooth and glossy. My only problem is that there is a branded tab towards one end of the straw. I assumed this was to keep your straw from falling through the lid of your cup. But the tab is towards the drinking end of the straw, so if you drop your cup, you risk the straw falling out. And yes, there is a drinking end of the straw. One end of the straw is perfectly flat, and the other end is slanted. This end has to be slanted to take the straws apart, and it’s just really annoying to drink out of. I can feel and hear air bubbles getting into my mouth when I drink from this end. The branded tab also means that you have to take the straw all the way out of your cup if you’re replacing/removing your lid, which can be a little bit messy. This straw is about the same thickness as any regular plastic reusable straw. I’ve tried it in an insulated tumbler (those cheap ones shaped like a fast food cup) and a Tervis Tumbler. It fits in the lids of both of them, and I’m hoping to buy a Yeti mug soon, so hopefully it will fit in that as well. (Update: it doesn’t fit in the Yeti lid with a magnetic slider) It is a little thin for non-liquids. I tried drinking a milkshake out of it, and the sprinkles clogged it up, so I had to use a thicker, disposable straw. I haven’t had the chance to try it in smoothies or frappes yet, so I’ll edit this review once I get the chance. If Rain were to make bigger straws for boba and thick drinks, I would buy them in a heartbeat. Overall, I LOVE these straws. I try to use as few single use plastics as I can, and these straws have taken away the only thing I don’t like about washable straws. If you use reusable straws, get these to save yourself the headache of trying to scrub them with a tiny brush.

Not so easy to get apart but gets the job done!
Get the job done, a sustainable pathway, and cute colors. However every time I go to clean it I feel like I am going to break it or it is going to break me. However to my surprise they do not. They are definitely better than your average metal straw or wasting away with plastics to the oceans for our little turtle friends. This was a good purchase. Would I refer them to a friend? answer: Yes and partially no... Do your research make sure that you prefer hard plastic vs silicone vs metal. Once you get the hang of the snapping and putting together it could be worth your while or not. They are a tedious purchase and if you don't have the time to puzzle them back together then they might not be for you. At the end of the day they work for me and they're very cute and colorful. Glad I made this purchase.

Watch the online tutorial
Getting the pieces separated and reassembled is easy enough - once you view the utube tutorial! I could not figure it out from looking at or handling them which for me is unusual. I was actually tempted to just return these and then decided to google the product to see if there were instructions somewhere for any hope of getting them back in one piece after I finally managed to get one apart. It really is easy enough but you have to fit the pieces together in a way that is not intuitive. At least it wasn’t for me… so, final verdict is 5 stars because you CAN clean these effectively and the colors really pop! Looking forward to using them when I start drinking iced coffee or root beer floats in summer .. thats what I bought them for. Tip to manufacturer.. include a link to instructions so buyers are given a clue how to work them apart and reassemble. Mine did not have any instructions….

Issues but usable
The straw is nice, work like intended, but one of mine did come with a yellowish stain.

Easy to clean for busy parents
They're plastic, so while we know it isn't the most ideal material for food/drinkware, I'm not going to rate based on that. I was looking for straws that I felt confident could we well cleaned. Unless you're the perfect parent, you probably leave dishes to sit a little longer than they should sometimes. This means milk and other liquids may have a chance to sit and get gross inside straws. These split apart very quickly and are easy to hand wash or throw on the top rack of the dishwasher. There is a small learning curve to reassemble but once you figure it out, it only takes a few seconds. So far they have withstanded many uses. I wish I could find stainless steel ones with this function, then they would be perfect.

Fantastic Straws
Love these straws. I have a fear of something growing or living inside my straws, but not with these! Very durable and dish washer safe.

A wonderful replacement to plastic straws
I never liked plastic, one-use straws, and waited such a long time for these to come back in stock. These straws are so good, and I suggest them to everybody who loves straws, but hates having to throw them away every time. Personally, I have tried metal straws, but didn’t like the mouth feel. These feel like regular straws, but you can actually clean them. They are so easy to separate, clean, and put back together. Overall, I understand why these straws are loved by so many people. They are truly that good, although you do have to clean them, they are better for the Earth.

Bit tight at first to open and stick back together, but once you get used to them they are easy to use, clean, and re-use. Well thought out design, would certainly look for larger and longer versions from same company if they every produce them.
