- Versa Ruler Multi-sided Ruler and Shape-making Tool (4-pack)

First thing I noticed was it is a lot heavier than I thought it would be. Yes it's plastic, but it's sturdy as hell. A bit too sturdy actually. For my preferences I would want it to be slimmer, though I do like the weight. So I'm fairly mechanically inclined and after fiddling with the components for a few minutes, I pretty much got the hang of it. I think it's best to start with 2 rulers at a single connection and get comfortable measuring and marking angles before doing all of the crazy shapes they have pictured.

I bought this tool for my 11 year-old son, who's pretty good at math and likes to draw. Figured it would be an interesting way toencourage him to use his hands more and give the video games a break. When we opened the box, the first thing I noticed was that the product was a little heavier than I thought it would be– probably a bit over a pound. Pretty good quality and finish on the parts, so that was a good start.Having seen the demo video on youtube, I laid the 4 rulers and protractors on the table and reached for the instructions. Before Ihad gotten past the first diagram, my son was already connecting the pieces and swinging and sliding all over the place. I had toshow him how to line up the rulers in the proper orientation of inches to inches, which wasn't immediately apparent to him. But once he got that part, he was able to make shapes and scale them fairly easily and quickly.When my husband got home and saw this curious device that our son was playing with, he immediately wanted to get in on the action and they began to sketch out a building project. Turns out he thought I had bought it for him!Anyway, as far as educational tools go, the Versa Ruler is top notch. It helps to create a fun interplay between math and art. Andmy hubby likes it for his DIY projects.My only complaint is that the instructions could be clearer and maybe more extensive, especially for those of us who are lessmechanically inclined. Aside from that, this was a total home run and even the teachers at my son's school want to know where he got it.

I found it difficult to assemble. Instructions were not clear for assembly. Since there were no suggestions for this rulers use, I have yet to use it.

Dont ruin it...The plastic is very sturdy.. though I was expecting it to be a little sturdier. Its extremely useful. You must watch out when leaving it around... if you put it in a backpack, the pieces can very easily separate from the rest of the ruler...In other words, stupidity will exact its price.The lock is a brilliant feature, though it doesnt completely securely lock it. If you pull on it, it will move... But then again if you are using it as a ruler, you wont have to worry about that.The protractor is very helpful, allowing you to draw a perfect angle, and make those crucial indents.In other words...... I wish it was constructed of metal but so far the plastic is holding up fine

Since the ruler arms connect end to end I thought it would be cool to make a drafting board with a rotating ruler that slides up and down the track. The rulers have little holes at the ends which fit a #10 machine screw. Drilled holes along the edge of a 24" x 20" wood board and made some extra holes for rubber ties (to hold paper down). Worked like a charm and I am enjoying my low-tech drafting machine!

Found this to be really cool.It is very sturdy and not cheap. I found the protractor very useful and helpful. My whole family has been using this!
