Very inexpensive solution to good reception
Bought this for my Choyong LC90 radio. See the video for how well it works for short wave reception. I am doing the video during the day and receiving distant stations. At night it is way better. Sangean provides a clip on adapter if your radio does not have an external 1/8 jack for antenna a very nice touch. In my video I have it plugged in to the external antenna. Right now is a great time for SW reception because we are at the peak of sunspot cycle. Unit winds up very nicely. Just be careful not to tangle it up like some reviewers stated. There is no problem if you wind it back with slight tension on the wire. For the price it is a nice little package. Yeah you could cut a piece of wire to 28 ft and use it but for the price you have a nice reusable antenna.

A Signal Savior โ Sangean ANT-60 Short Wave Antenna Review
I'm thrilled to share my outstanding experience with the Sangean ANT-60 Short Wave Antenna! As an avid shortwave radio enthusiast and DXer (distant signal hunter), I've struggled with mediocre antennas โ until this game-changer arrived. **Unboxing and Build Quality** The ANT-60 arrived promptly, well-packaged, and surprisingly lightweight. Its compact design (23.6 x 5.5 x 2.4 inches) belies its powerful performance. The antenna's sturdy construction and sleek appearance suggest superior quality โ which it delivers. **Easy Installation and Versatility** Setup was a breeze โ merely attach the included BNC connector to my radio and mount the antenna vertically or horizontally (I chose vertical). The ANT-60 works seamlessly with various shortwave radios, scanners, and receivers. Its wide frequency range (2-30 MHz) covers essential shortwave bands. **Signal Boost and Noise Reduction** The real magic happens when you turn on your radio โ signals leap to life! The ANT-60 significantly enhances reception quality, pulling in distant stations with clarity and strength. Noise reduction is equally impressive, minimizing interference and static. My favorite international broadcasts now sound crystal clear. **Performance Comparison and Field Testing** Side-by-side testing with my previous antenna revealed the ANT-60's superiority โ stronger signals, better selectivity, and reduced fading. Field tests in various environments (urban, rural, indoors, outdoors) consistently demonstrated its excellence. **Conclusion** The Sangean ANT-60 Short Wave Antenna has revolutionized my shortwave listening experience โ stronger signals, reduced noise, and effortless installation make it a must-have for enthusiasts. Whether you're a casual listener or serious DXer, this antenna will elevate your enjoyment. Pros: * Compact design with powerful performance * Easy installation and versatile connectivity * Significant signal boost and noise reduction * Wide frequency range covering essential shortwave bands * Durable construction and sleek appearance Cons: None noted during extensive testing and comparison

Surprisingly good.
This retractable short wave antenna surprised me as to how well it worked. Sure you can get a 25 foot wire and solder it to alligator clips, but just try to stick it in your pocket when youโre done. With this antenna you can retract it when you are done, just like a tape measure. If you are on vacation you can unspool and then retract it when you are done whether you are on a cruse ship, (were radio signals travel better,), or on dry land, this little jewel can come in really handy. Iโm an old short wave fan for more years than I care to admit, so I know what Iโm talking about. This is a useful tool for the shortwave enthusiast, or just a casual listener, this little unit is worth a try.

The reel works smoothly
I purchased my Sangean ANT-60 in 2011, 13 years ago. In the intervening years I've gotten other similar real antennas included with shortwave radios I bought. They're all about the same except for one very important characteristic -- how easy the antenna is to reel in. Some of them stick and reeling the antenna back in is tedious and frustrating. The ANT-60 works pretty smoothly -- and a tiny bit of silicone lubricant makes it perfect. The antenna terminates in a 3.5 mm phone jack, the almost universal connector for portable shortwave radios. For radios with no antenna jack, the ANT-60 comes with an adaptor that clips onto the end of the telescopic antenna. The ANT-60 also comes with a short strap and a clip suitable for attaching the end to a tree limb or something else convenient. It's a piece of wire with a phone plug rolled up in a reel. This isn't rocket science, but this model works the best. If mine ever got lost or finally broke, I'd buy this model again.

But if purchased WITH Sony ICF-SW7600GR AM/FM Shortwave Receiver - it's 1-Star
This antenna is advertised as something people purchase along with the Sony ICF-SW7600GR AM/FM Shortwave World Band Receiver. And the product description for that radio says there are two antennas included with the radio - a ferrite rod internally, and the little silver telescoping antenna on the top of the radio. Nowhere does it say the external antenna comes in the box WITH the radio (it does). So when I purchased that radio, I also purchased this antenna. Though I never opened up the packaging and tried out the separately purchased Sangean antenna with the Sony radio, I have absolutely no doubt about its quality. The antenna that came with the Sony receiver appears to be exactly the same antenna - just without the Sangean name on it. Assuming it is (and I'd be very surprised if it isn't made in the same factory, even on the same assembly line), the antenna works great! It's compact, long enough to significantly extend the capabilities of the radio, and stores easily out of the way when not in use. JUST DON'T buy this WITH the Sony ICF-SW7600GR AM/FM Shortwave World Band Receiver - that's already got one. I see that this antenna has the same "Frequently Bought Together" buying "suggestion" that the receiver does. Amazon took my Sangean antenna back without any hassle and credited my credit card quickly with an apology - AND a promise to take out the "Frequently Bought Together" suggestion on the product item pages. It's highly misleading, to say the least. So in that regard, I'm not impressed with Amazon for leaving that still up on both products (well over a month since purchase now). Got an OLD ICF-SW7600GR receiver that didn't come with this antenna back when you purchased yours? By all means get it. It's well worth the money.
