I ordered a Manfrotto MHXPRO-2W XPRO and it came in a box that had been opened and original packing was removed, but was being sold new. Probably would have kept it but the plate release trigger arrived snapped off. Lucky for me. It felt like it was made out of cheap bulky plastic so I didn't order a replacement. Instead went with this Benro. It's solid, constructed of metal, and pan and tilts smoothly. It also has holes on each side to mound accessories...which...why didn't someone think of that before. Very happy with is for my minimal travel kit.

While the fluid drag on the pan is good - on the tilt (although its rated for 8.8 lbs) it’s insufficient to ensure against snapping forward (when slightly loosened) with only 5lbs of weight.

The advertisement for this video head mentions that it comes with an Arca-Swiss clamp on top, but it doesn't bother to detail that the clamp only accepts 2" wide instead of the 1 1/2" wide plates that I have installed on 8 of my lenses. The only way to make this work is to unscrew the smaller plates and install the 2" plate that came with the video head whenever I want to trade out lenses. This is time consuming and defeats the quick change purpose of the Arca-Swiss plates in the first place. Even more of an issue for the L bracket on my camera which is also 1 1/2" wide. I am returning the Benro head for a refund and going to a different manufacturer who accurately details their products.

I didn't even mount this to my tripod already knowing there is no way I'm lugging this through the field. The product appeared to be of good quality but too heavy for the kind of use I need it for. My bad for not checking the weight before ordering. Still giving a 3 star rating even though I'm returning the item.

I paid for NEW! What I received looked like something that was USED or RETURNED, not in the Factory Packaging. The interior of the packaging was a mess. The Video Head was NOT in the vinyl bag it was supposed to be in if NEW from the Factory. The Head was laying in the bottom of the box, not in the cardboard separator tabs used to keep the head from bouncing around in the box. The vinyl bag the head was SUPPOSED to be INSIDE OF was jut laying on the head, then the panning arm was laying on top of the vinyl bag and the plastic bag the MANUAL was in looked like it was run over by a truck. I AM GOING TO TEST THE VIDEO HEAD TO SEE IF IT HAS ANY ISSUES... IF IT IS NOT AS NEW, IT WILL BE RETURNED. I already see a smudge mark on the side of the head that suggests it was USED. I WILL UPDATE THIS REVIEW after I test the head. If it functions well, I will keep it, but I AM NOT HAPPY THAT I RECEIVED WHAT LOOKS LIKE A USED HEAD AFTER I PAID FOR A NEW HEAD. NOT THRILLED!

I just took delivery of this today after buying the Manfrotto 504X of which I was very disappointed in, the counterbalance could not hold a weight of 4KG even at position 3. The Benro S8Pro however surpassed my dreams, which I had a feeling it would!, This head is outstanding and is a 1000 times better than the 504X. Even the light is tons better, nice clear light unlike the 504X which is yellow and only poorly lights the right-hand side of the bubble. I would recommend the Benro til the cows come home to anyone.
