The way these cards are done, many of them are actually nouns. wouldn’t it be more accurate if the words ended in -ing??

Wow, it's been years since I bought and used these, so I don't remember the specific cards. However, I teach language for a living, so I can offer an answer. There are many verbs in English which have the same form as their associated noun (paint, for example). In such a case, there is no need to change the verb to its present participle (-ing) form (Paint is just as much a verb as painting, for example. "I paint the house" is just as correct as "I am painting the house.") Sounds like the cards are fine--hope that helps.
