CLUELESS Review: Great - Clueless is the iconic mid-90s coming of age movie starring Alicia Silverstone, Brittany Murphy, and Paul Rudd (in one of his first roles), and sporting a supporting cast of Breckin Meyer, Donald Faison, Wallace Shawn, Dan Hedaya, and Stacey Dash. It is loosely based on Jane Austen's 1815 novel Emma, and directed by Amy Heckerling who also directed the 1980s coming of age classic Fast Times at Ridgemont High. The movie is basically set around the life of pampered rich girl Cher (played by Silvertone) who can argue anything to get what she wants, as taught to her by her lawyer father (played by Hedaya). In her high school, she is the leader of a group of girls just as vain and clueless as she is, including her best friend Dionne (played by Dash). Brittany Murphy plays Tai, a new student at the school whom Cher takes on as her charity case to make her over into one of the groups. When Tai's personality changes Cher then sees firsthand how she treats people and ultimately learns to grow up. The other big plot revolves around Cher's love life. She tries to make out with her school crush and is surprisingly rebuffed, and then falls for Rudd's character, which is a bit creepy given that he is her stepbrother. For those who get the Whatever! edition of the DVD, the extras include the trailers, a bunch of behind-the-scenes featurettes (seven in all ranging from about three minutes to almost twenty minutes), and then a bunch of previews for other movies. So, if you like bonus material, you get a good amount here. Overall, the movie is a classic. It is very funny and has some dramatic moments. Yes, the thought of Cher and Josh becoming a thing is a bit creepy and is probably not something that would be added to the storyline if it was made today, but it was not the focus of the movie by any means. Of course, the various actors have gone on to have wildly varied careers since Clueless with Silverstone basically having retired from acting, Rudd making blockbuster movies (and hardly aging), and Murphy having tragically passed away after her career hitting a bit of a slump. It would be nice if they make a 20th-anniversary Blu-Ray within the next couple of years and get the cast together to do a commentary track and new cast interviews. Who knows whether that will actually happen, but for now, this is a great version of the movie (there is a Blu-Ray upgrade of this set floating around out there), and it is definitely worth watching. Review: Clueless DVD - Love this movie!! 🩷

A Timeless, Fun Classic!
Clueless is an absolute must-have for anyone who loves a smart, funny, and stylish teen comedy. I bought the DVD to revisit this 90s gem, and it still holds up wonderfully. The story is lighthearted, charming, and full of witty dialogue, Cher is an iconic character, and her mix of humor and heart makes the movie endlessly enjoyable. The DVD quality is excellent, with clear picture and sound that makes it feel like you’re watching it for the first time again. It’s perfect for movie nights, nostalgic viewing, or introducing a new generation to a fun, feel-good classic. ✅ Helpful tip: Watch with friends for maximum laughs, the fashion, slang, and quirky plot twists are even more entertaining with company! Whether you’re a 90s kid or just love clever teen comedies, Clueless is timeless, funny, and endlessly rewatchable. This DVD is a great addition to any collection.

Classic!!! Movie: 5/5 - DVD: 4/5
This is one of those movies with high replay value (pretty rare nowadays); you can watch it over and over again and still enjoy and laugh at the same scenes! I already owned this movie on VHS, but a movie like this is worth having in your DVD collection. Of course, the quality on DVD is better than VHS, but it's even better because it's "anamorphic" -- excellent quality than some ordinary, standard widescreen movie (because of that, this movie looks recently made than a 1995 movie). Moreover it has superb audio Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound! If you have 5.1 speakers, the scene with Dionne (Cher's best friend) accidently getting on the freeway is where the surround sound truly enhances the experience: you can hear all the cars and bikes driving by just as if you were in the car with Dionne, Cher, and Murray. (Speaking of which, that's one of my favorite scenes! It really did an excellent job capturing the fear of getting on the freeway. I mean, it's not too far-fetched; it could really happen with all the crazy drivers in LA! The truck, the bikers, the old lady giving the middle finger... hilarious. Anyhow...) I'm glad they gave this DVD a makeover instead of leaving with some instant VHS-DVD transfer with only a movie trailer. On this new edition, they have really enjoyable special features too. ----------------------------------------------------- "The Class of '95 - A look at the cast, then and now" (about 18 minutes long): - It's really cool being able to see how the cast looks like now! Christian (the gay guy) seemed like he gained some weight. Josh looked like he aged; he looked different, maybe because of the lighting or makeup off the set. Oh, in the DVD, it mentioned Dionne was 28 (that old?!) at the time when she did the movie! To me, she still looked young in the interviews. What was truly disappointing, though, was how Alicia, the main star of the movie, was not in the present interview! However, there is footage of her getting interviewed back in '95. I was also disappointed how there was absolutely no commentary! Having commentary for a DVD, especially if they say interesting things in it, is actually something I enjoy having. Those two reasons are pretty much why I'm giving this DVD a 4 star. Also, the main menu has a video background, which is nice, but the chapter selection are just plain stills. Anyway, continuing on with the other special features... "Creative Writing" (about 10 minutes long) - how the movie got started. "Fashion 101" (about 11 minutes long) - shows the fashion in the movie. It's so funny how this movie made fun of the baggy pants (which pretty much died now). "Language Arts" (about 8 minutes long) - explains the vocabulary used on Clueless (eg: "betty" meant an attractive female.) "Suck 'N Blow: A Tutorial" (about 3 minutes long) - pretty much shows how difficult that game was because the card was too heavy to suck for the actors. "Driver's Ed" (about 4 minutes long) - talks about the Dionne freeway scene. "We're History"(about 9 minutes long) - pretty much the final thoughts from the cast. Teaser Trailer (about 2 minutes long) Theatrical Trailer(about 3 minutes long) ----------------------------------------------------- They couldn't have found a better cast; Alicia as Cher was perfect and the rest are really likable too (well, except for Elton -- the movie did a good job making me hate him. And Brittany Murphy was also my second least favorite character (she really got the bitchy attitude down calling Cher "A virgin who can't drive.") There's no dull moment in the movie at all. It's smooth transition throughout the movie. So many funny scenes (eg: Cher taking her driving test). The mood, cinematography, the soundtrack is all great. Believe it or not, I am a guy (straight) and I'm not ashamed to say "Clueless" is one of my favorite movies. Alicia really made the "blonde girl" look good! If you enjoyed this movie, I would also recommend "Never Been Kissed" starring Drew Barrymore. Apparently, the costume designer for "Never Been Kissed" was the same from this movie.

Clueless, run time 97 minutes, expert review
There’s something special and quite entertaining about coming of age tales of teen romance, betrayal, overcoming life’s challenges, and becoming better for it. Alcicia Silverstone ( of Batman and Robin fame) really steels the screen in this role and you can tell she’s going to take Hollywood by storm. The run time is 97 minutes which feels like a misfire when it should have been 120 minutes. Normally I’d give this 5 bags of popcorn but Paul Rudd is clearly much older than her and that’s kinda gross and nothing we should celebrate, so I’d give it 4 bags of popcorn, however he does such a good job in his role and is quite the charming nice guy with a heart of gold. He realy reminded me of us movie buffs who just want to find love with a nice girl so I gotta award another bag of popcorn. The final rating for Clueless is 5 bags of popcorn, 5 sodas, and I’ll toss in the yellow murder envelope that is a must for anyone playing Clue, for which this movie is a sequel to the original Clue 1 starring Tim Curry and Christopher Lloyd and directed by Jonathan Lynn.

Christmas Gift
I bought this for a Christmas gift this year and it's one of my favourite classics! It arrived early and was received well. It was a super easy purchase to set up. I bought this movie along with a bunch of other classic romantic comedies and they were all new in packaging and there was no problems with any of the disks, they all came together in one box and it was an easy multi-purchase. Definitely would recommend this movie to anyone, girl or not (no judgement), who wanted a good Sunday afternoon lazy-day rom-com.
