Gardner Bender GST-70M Circuit Alert, Multi-Tool Hand Tool, Strips/Crimps, & Cuts, 8-20 AWG, Patented Volt Sensing Handle

I've owned a single pair of these for over two years and they still work as well as when I first purchased them! I found out about these when I was a wireman building/servicing generator control systems. My co-worker had a pair of these and raved about them...so, i decided to order a pair for myself. In the past I have owned mostly Klein wire strippers as they were easy to obtain from our companies parts distributor. Klein"s are terrific tools and I'd never knock em', although these are just a little more comfortable and offer the advantage of the circuit alert tester which makes it an added bonus as I work on live equipment at times and like to know if there may or may not be voltage present. These are great tools!!!

Had an older model of this tool that broke after maybe 15 years of use. Sensor was built into handle and was the weak point. This one has sensor as separate part that slides onto handle making it a little bulkier but eliminated the weak spot in my opinion. I like it a lot and commend this change.

I have an older version of these pliers that have narrower handles and no live AC circuit tester that I wanted to purchase, since i need one set at work and one at home, but i had to purchase these as a additional pair. The wider handles on this newer model are a bit of an issue if using the crimp areas on the inside of the hinge, and the circuit tester if left on the handles will either be in the way or slides off, but then there's a chance of misplacing he darn thing! Wish the manufacturer had the older version still available. Seems to cut, strip and crimp wires well. I haven't used the stud thread cutter on these pliers but I'm sure they function adequately for light duty use.

Stainless steel construction, more bolt cutters sizes and more wire strip sizes that the previous, that's all nice. I'm somewhere around 5-10.5 in height, I can go more than an octave on a keyboard, but these take every bit of my hand. The voltage sensor acts weird; its not like NCVT-2 Klein Tools voltage tester that has a blue light when its on, and red near live, this thing only blinks when it senses live. The technician that works under me could not figure the voltage sense feature out and I found that disturbing. I am not a licensed electrician, I do not have a Professional Engineer cert.

Excellent tool.

This is my very first tool purchase after a recent fire at our house. First everyone is safe including the pets. And thankfully the fire was contained to the garage. The sad news is that all of my tools were destroyed. The fire was so hot it melted my tools. I'm very happy that I found this tool again. This specific tool is one of my favorite goto tools. Now and most important, smoke dectors save lives!! Please make sure you have fresh batteries in them because you really do only have seconds to escape.

Judging by the picture I got my hopes up pretty high and was looking for something very small and with an amazing grip within certain price range, this is not what I was hoping for, larger and more awkward looking than I expected and the grip is so-so, the volt alert I haven't tried but am guessing works like most of the others I have used, I might be a little harsh with this product but it's not something I would have bought from a hardware store, though I'm sure it works for many, quality seems average

A must have. I am an AV professional that works at many different venues and the first thing before one AC cable is taped down, we always check the outlet to see if it is hot. With setting an event and tearing it down many, many times there is always going to be a connector, fitting or cable that is going to need repair. These strippers do the job.

Excellent little multitool, makes working on wiring a snap. Strips quickly, crimps well, circuit alert keeps you safe. Highly recommend.

Quality product works well. Would have given 5 stars but it's not spring loaded.
