Madness not to read for aspiring children's book writers
A few months ago, i decided to write a children's book, this is something i have been meaning to do for quite a while! so i did it! just sat down one day and wrote it! However then comes the next part, how to publish, where to find resources, a myriad of questions i did not know the answers too! I am no stranger to publishing, promotions and marketing, however i was new to publishing a children's book! I have read Evis's book cover to cover and frequently find myself using it as a reference guide, absolute madness not to read this book, if nothing else it confirmed to me what i had got right and pointed me in a few directions a had not considered. Highly recommend and also comes with a great backup website for downloads and resources.

Not the right title
I think this book should be called, "How to Write and Self Publish a Children's Book" because the first half is largely about writing the book and it aiming at a market. My guess is that most first-time authors have already written the book by the time they thing about publishing it and certainly, most first-time children's books are written by parents for their own children. This was certainly the case with me and as a travel journalist of many years, I'm content that I can write well enough (or I wouldn't get asked) so all I wanted from the book was a guide to avoiding the pitfalls and cutting straight to the chase of self publishing. The book, at least the version that I was sent, is also out of date; for publishing on Amazon it directs you to Createspace and this has been dumped in favour of Amazon Direct Publishing so, c'mon Amazon, don't be sending people out-of-date versions.

An excellent book
The title and sub-title of this book say it all. This really is a comprehensive step-by-step guide to self-publishing your own children's book. I highly recommend it.

As a children’s author with three published books, I can honestly say this guide is one of the best resources out there for anyone looking to self-publish a children’s book. It covers everything, writing, illustrating, formatting, publishing, and even marketing, step by step, in a way that’s easy to follow and encouraging from start to finish. What I love most is how practical it is. The author explains the process clearly and takes away the confusion that so many new writers feel when they start out. Whether you’re just beginning or already have a story ready, this book gives you the knowledge and confidence to bring your vision to life. An inspiring, detailed, and empowering read. Highly recommended for every aspiring children’s author!

I purchased this book after consuming several dozen of Eevi's YouTube videos, partly as a way to support a content creator I appreciate but also in the hopes of learning a few more "ninja tricks", as Eevi might call them. Instead I got a complete "How to Ninja" encyclopedia, metaphorically speaking! The info in this book is comprehensive and delivered in a logical, digestible format that makes it easy to refer back to. Eevi includes multiple links to live documents on her website, provided for free; a clever way to avoid her content from becoming irrelevant or out of date. I will deliver one criticism: this book truly wants to be an e-book. I bought a physical copy, delivered via Amazon Australia's print on demand system, and the print quality left something to be desired. Pictures are low-detail and often pixelated into uselessness, the cover was cut roughly with visible serated edges and the whole book has a very "self published" air to it (perhaps appropriate). Add to that the generous abundance of Internet links and the book begins to feel like it would rather be something digital. Despite the above gripe, I am glad I spent a little extra to own the 'acoustic' version of this book over it's e-book form; I feel it made the book more approachable, which made it easier to keep reading in the later chapters where things start to get technical. If you're at all interested in the topic of self publishing for little ones, I don't think you could regret purchasing this book. Oh, and if you need some validation of the author's credentials, check out her YouTube channel.

I have recently completed reading the book, and I wholeheartedly recommend it. Yvonne Jones placed a strong emphasis on children's literature in her work, particularly focusing on picture books. However, she also delves into chapter books intended for older children. Other author will profit from the advices, too. It offers a wealth of advice on collaborating with illustrators, cover designers, editors, and more. Moreover, it provides insights into a range of marketing strategies, not exclusively tailored to children's literature. Additionally, the author manages a highly regarded YouTube channel known as "Eevi Jones."

How to Self-Publish a Children's Book by Yvonne Jones is an incredibly helpful and practical guide for anyone looking to self-publish their own children’s book. The book provides a clear, step-by-step approach to the entire process, from writing and illustration to formatting and distribution. What stands out is Jones’ ability to break down complex tasks into manageable steps, making the self-publishing journey less intimidating for first-time authors. In addition to technical advice, the book offers valuable insights on how to market your book and get it noticed in a competitive market. Jones combines her personal experience with expert advice, creating a resource that is both informative and motivating. Whether you’re a budding author or looking to refine your self-publishing strategy, this book is a must-have. Highly recommended for anyone passionate about bringing their children’s stories to life!
