Same as Original Remote- excellent product
I’ve purchased few remotes previously, either magic pointer won’t work or the remote won’t get registered. For my LG tv, this product MRG20 works like charm. Add 2 batteries to the remote(battery’s aren’t included) and turn on the TV, remote registered automatically. Mouse pointer works, voice control works flawlessly. Looks like for like against original remote. Good value. Would recommend. Update : 10:12:24 the Mouse pointer is not working it runs to the corner and don’t work. I’ve purchased from this seller and now on my invoice it’s showing as different seller? Something wrong here

Works well
Original delivery was lost by the courier, response to delivery enquiry was quick and a replacement sent within a few days. Thanks. The remote works well as a direct replacement for the original, easy to set up and really nice to have a functioning scrolling wheel again.

You’ve got motion control
Okay… this is actually quite a sophisticated piece of control hardware, even though it looks simple on the surface. Because this isn’t just a remote with buttons. It’s a multi-input interface for navigating an entire TV system. You’ve got motion control—where the remote acts like a pointer. That changes interaction from directional clicking to spatial selection. It becomes more direct. More immediate. You’re not just pressing “down” five times—you’re moving through the interface in real space. Then there’s voice input. That adds another layer of control abstraction. You’re not limited to physical navigation—you can issue commands, search, and trigger functions through speech. That reduces friction in a different way. And the standard buttons are still there, which matters. Because redundancy in control systems is important. If one method is less effective in a given situation, you still have fallback options. That increases reliability in real-world use. The ergonomics also matter more than people think. The curved body, the button placement, the weight distribution—it all affects how naturally it sits in the hand. And when you’re interacting with a TV system repeatedly over long periods, that becomes noticeable. There’s also the “magic” cursor system, which translates motion into on-screen movement. When calibrated properly, it reduces navigation time and makes complex menus easier to traverse. That’s a meaningful usability improvement, not just a novelty.

This 2020 magic remote works with my 2017 TV!
We bought a 55inch LG UJ63 in 2017. It uses the WebOS program guide and operating system. In 2017 these TV's didn't include the magic remote, just a standard remote, which isn't ideal as the WebOS was clearly designed with a pointer style controller in mind. At the time a magic remote was £50 so we didn't bother. This has always made navigation of the tv guide rather clunky and awkward. Last week I gave in and went to the LG website to stump up for a magic remote, only to find them discontinued for my TV. The website states that you need a MR650 remote for a 2017 tv. So i resort to the auction site, only to find that I'll have to pay £50 for a now out of date remote with no warranty. After much more research I found stories of people buying a newer remote than their tv only to find it didn't work and having to return it, while some people seemed to get away with a newer remote on their older tv. My best guess is that some people have been updating the software in their tv and some haven't. Noting that our 2017 TV has downloaded an update very recently I decided to risk trying the 2020 magic remote on my 2017 tv. After inserting the batteries it worked as a regular remote immediately, after pressing the scroll wheel I got a 'pairing failed' message a couple of times. I turned the TV off and back on, pairing success! This remote works perfectly and fully with my tv. Its clearly the remote the WebOS guide was designed for. And it was under half the price of a 2017 'pre-owned' model...

LG genuine replacement
Definitely LG genuine. Arrived promptly. Connected easily and works perfectly. My old remote click wheel broke which seems to be a common fault with these remotes. Just make sure you check the model numbers as there are a couple of remotes that look identical (this one definitely works for my TV (OLED65BXPTA).

Waste of money!
Absolute waste of money. The remote hardly works. Long hangs, the cursor has a mind of its own and the buttons do not click.
