Coldplay: They Never Give Up
Album number seven from Coldplay arrives ripe with subtextual and metaphorical expressions about love and hope, spirituality and predestination, appreciation, gratitude and amazing grace. I applaud Chris Martin and his creative band mates for this bold, brave, and risky outpouring of musical expression. Coldplay will gain some new fans eagerly willing to ride along in the passenger seat, as the band embarks on their journey towards rebirth, renaissance, and enlightenment; and they will lose some die hard fans for the very same reason. If you want to like this album; you will, and if you don't want to like it; you won't. Coldplay will be headlining the halftime show at Super Bowl 2016 and the timing is perfect. Our world is in a dark and scary place right now. Racism and bigoted behavior abounds. Hateful behavior is creeping up and infiltrating its way into our sense of calm. "A Head Full of Dreams" with its "don't let darkness keep you from moving towards the light" philosophy may be just what the doctor ordered to be heard all over the world on Super Bowl Sunday. I like all of the songs on the album, but my absolute favorites are; "Adventure Of A Lifetime," "Hymn For The Weekend "(featuring Beyonce - I don't understand all the hate-talk about her presence on this album,) "Fun," "Everglow," "Amazing Day," "Up & Up," and "Army Of One." The album "Head Full Of Dreams" is a lightheartedly upbeat, optimistic, and euphoric musical experience worth being listened to repeatedly. Here's what I do; I put on a good set of headphones and close my eyes and listen. Most of the time I end up standing on my living room floor giving in to the emotions and physical movement caused by the music. "I can feel my heart beating...'cause you make me feel like I'm alive again." Try it. I double dare you. -:) "Don't ever give up. Believe in love." ~ Coldplay

They are still my favorite!!!
Their newest album is so good!!! Coldplay never dissappoints!!! My review philosophy: As a longtime customer of Amazon, I depend on others' honest reviews. I do my best to provide that same courtesy to others. I purchase lots of items through Amazon, some I get for free, some I get at a discounted rate, and some I pay full price. I will always disclose if I receive an item for free or a discounted rate. I do a lot of reviews so here is a break down on how I determine my star rating of a product: 5 stars – I love it! It is awesome and I highly recommend everyone to purchase this product! 4 stars – I like it, but there are some flaws. Don't we all have flaws? I would purchase again. 3 stars - It was okay, but I would probably not buy it again unless there are no other options. 2 stars – There may be worse products out there, but you can definitely find better choices. 1 star – I dislike the product, I wish I had not purchased it and recommend others to not purchase.

It's a miracle! UN-WHINEY Coldplay!! It's *** GOOD *** !
I love this album, it is effortless to listen to. I bought the CD. The first Coldplay WAY back there (i.e like "Yellow" era) was totally lost on me. I own "Rush of Blood to the Head" only like 3 songs on it. The rest of Rush Of.. frankly drains me, is a malaise, I'm always skipping songs. I discovered Head Full of Dream per chance from the Youtube videos - was not expecting much. The videos for this new album are amusing but it's the music that grabs me. The songs speak to me - all of them. I get energy from this music. It has a melody that I can internalize and enjoy. Life affirming - even the piano ballad. I can * remember * it and it's nourishing not draining. By the way, I'm not a Beyonce fan either but I like what she does on the two songs here. I hope that Coldplay keeps on making albums with this kind of energy and production. I am not naiive about musical production - this album is Produced with a capital P. Thank God it is! I suppose the die-hard fans will call this a soulless sellout. Pah. I ** LOVE ** THIS ALBUM. Keep up the good work! P.S. THE AUDIO MIX The one thing I can agree with some on is - the mix is a bit puzzling on this album. It sounds great on headphones (CD WAV audio 16bit 44.1) on my Fiio or desktop computer (custom USB DAC). However, on my 5.1 system in the living room, whether I set it for plain stereo, or to 5.1 using any of 30 different surround parameters - my living room system sort of fights to deal with centering the vocals for the mix - it feels like a compromise. My downstairs "old school" pure stereo 2.1 (i.e. has subwoofer) system seems to play it OK. In short: I speculate that this mix may be problematic translating for some peoples 5.1 systems. SIDE NOTE: Many props to this band for their sense of humor in producing the mythical Game of Thrones "Musical" for RedNose charity. A sense of humor changes everything.

I prefer cassettes over files, CBs over I-phones and Super 8 over video. I was a kid when the Beatles were forming. So here's some thoughts from a fairly older one. If you like a band called Coldplay, you should discover Travis. If you like Travis, you should discover Coldplay. Everyone has different tastes and preferences; your worst tune could be my best, and vice-versa. But if I had to chose 20 songs to create a ' Best Of ' compilation, this would be it: (listed in listening order, not from best to last) 1. Birds (Coldplay- A Head Full Of Dreams ) 2. Up & Up (Coldplay- A Head Full Of Dreams) 3. Lovers in Japan (Coldplay- Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends ) 4. All of the Places (Travis- Everything At Once ) 5. A Different Room (Travis- Where You Stand ) 6. Boxes (Travis- Where You Stand) 7. One Night (Travis- Boy With No Name ) 8. Another Guy (Travis- Where You Stand) 9. Big Chair (Travis- Boy With No Name) 10. Amazing Day (Coldplay- A Head Full of Dreams) 11. A Head Full of Dreams (Coldplay- A Head Full of Dreams) 12. Always in my Head (Coldplay- Ghost Stories ) 13. Magic (Coldplay- Ghost Stories) 14. Clocks (Coldplay- A Rush of Blood to the Head ) 15. Shiver (Coldplay- Parachutes ) 16. Yellow (Coldplay- Parachutes) 17. Sing (Travis- Invisible Band ) 18. Strangers on a Train (Travis- Everything At Once) 19. The Scientist (Coldplay- A Rush of Blood to the Head) 20. Us Against the World (Coldplay- Mylo Xyloto ) ...90 minutes of magic. Sorry for all the fabulous exclusions. FUN FACT: 7 of the 20 selections come from two albums. And for you Travis fans, don't forget these gems, oldies but goodies... 1. All I want to do is Rock (Good Feeling) 2. I Love you Anyways (Good Feeling) 3. More Than Us (Good Feeling) 4. As You Are (The Man Who) 2016.11.03. rv

Bought this as a birthday gift for a friend. The delivery was on the expected date, and the packaging was excellent. The album itself is very good, but that much is obvious, since it IS Coldplay! But what astounded me is how awesome the album art is. Clearly, someone spent a lot of time designing that thing, and it shows. It's as close to a pictorial representation of "a head full of dreams" aa I've ever seen before. So even if you don't particularly like coldplay, I still recommend you go for this one, that is, if the 'price is right' for you. The songs are much less morbid than some of Coldplay's past endeavors. And the album art makes it all worth it :)
