What is the difference between stock and bone broth? I honestly thought they were the same.

Stock is a rich, savory liquid prepared by simmering bones and vegetables in water for hours with herbs and spices until the flavor is extracted. Stock derives its flavor primarily from the protein, not from heavy sodium. As a result, stock is usually a healthier product, delivering a richer mouth feel and deeper flavor than broth. Stock is a versatile culinary tool that can deliver taste to any number of dishes. Darker in color and more concentrated in flavor than broth, it's ideal for use in soups, rice, sauces and more. Customize it to your preference by adding salt as needed. Broth is stock's cousin but has some key differences. Although both stock and broth involve simmering in water, broth uses meat while stock uses bones. As a result, broth contains very little protein, a key ingredient in building flavor. Additionally, broth often does not contain vegetables or herbs, thereby requiring higher sodium levels to impart flavor. The notable exception to this is bone broth, which is made like a stock but commonly referred to as a broth.

Is "chicken flavor" another way of saying it *does* contain free glutamate (as bad as msg)?

MSG is a chemical that causes some people headaches etc. It is not a good chemical to consume. I thought MSG was banned years ago. In 60's-70's there was talk about the health risks of msg. Something about collecting in the body or brain etc. Why would you want to put msg in your body, stick w/ natural salt.

Why isn't this labelled vegan? is the vegetable broth not vegan? none of the ingreduents indicate dairy or?

Great Low-Sodium Veggie Stock!

This stock is the only brand of low-sodium vegetable stock that I have found - and, the flavor is great. Because I have to follow a low-sodium diet this stock is a wonderful staple addition to my pantry. It can sometimes be difficult to find in the grocery store so I was very happy to find it on Amazon. Though 12 boxes is a lot, I use quite a bit for a variety of dishes and it has a long shelf life too. The stock arrived well packaged, no leakage or dented boxes and it was shipped quickly, I will order from this seller again.

Amazing, affordable, vegetable broth

When it comes to vegetable stock, it has to be sodium free. Why buy it otherwise? I want the health benefits without the sodium. This brand seems to have all the great ingredients and taste. Bonus! I like the size as well. It arrived on time, not leaking or damaged in any way. I like using vegetable stock in place of beef or chicken broth every chance I get. There are a lot of vitamins in vegetables that you can't get in other broths.

Good flavor

This tastes good. Priced well. I receive them mostly smashed, some beyond using. Warehouse problems again? I can't use when smashed open leaking in box. Some I can salvage.( Not many, )but I need them. No sodium, but destroyed alot. I keep most.

Excellent Tasting Unsalted Stock

This unsalted stock quickly became a must-have pantry staple after a family member was put on a renal diet. The Kitchen Basics unsalted stocks are by far the most flavorful of any other brand I've tried. It's great as a replacement for salted stock/broth in recepies as well as a flavor booster for cooking rice, pasta, vegetables etc without adding salt.

Best Secret ever, it works!

I am on a sodium restricted diet and this helps so much. I use it in soups sauté or a hot sip at night. The flavor and price is great.
