I am a 22 year old man and am writing this via my mom's Amazon account through which I bought this and as soon as I started using this walkman, I felt extremely compelled to write this company/product a shining review.🏆 Just opened this guy up and after putting in 2 AA batteries, tested with an old Elvis cassette tape from 1973 and the SOUND is fantastic. 🔊 It came remarkably quickly and arrived in a little cardboard box; inside the walkman was seated in a little foam tray with the earbuds and instructions lying flat beneath. I felt very comfortable that it wouldn't have been damaged in transit. 📦 The BUTTONS are solid and don't rattle and have a weight to them that feels durable and WELL-MADE. Jacks for BOTH aux and mic are VERY appreciated and are both clearly labeled. 🎧 Analog radio tuner =🤌🤌. The video shows it sitting on its horizontal side but it also stands just as steadily vertically with the antenna pointing up. 👍 VERY easy to open and insert tapes. 🙌 I have tried other brands on Amazon that were fine but were a bit flimsy and got jammed or stuck pretty easily. I had bought two of one kind that worked okay but both started making screeching noises and quit working after about a month of very minimal use each. ☹️ It obviously hasn't been that long yet, but I haven't seen reviews here talking about this Semier stopping working (unlike the other one whose bad reviews I did not listen to🫣). I am actually really confident that that isn't going to be an issue with this walkman; it feels better and works better right out of the gate so I doubt that's going to be an issue. If it is as some point, it's likely a fluke or my fault and I can always return it/contact the company for help. 🙏 This has a remarkable PRICE and I truly see no need to buy anything more expensive as this does what it needs to and does it very well. 💲 The external speaker is VERY good. Keep in mind my video is of a super old tape and by nature isn't going to sound like Bose, no matter how it's played. 📻 The only reason someone might want to upgrade to a more expensive brand is to find one with a very VERY good speaker/Bluetooth compatibility, but we're talking about cassette players here which are predominantly intended for wired headphone use, so an external speaker is just a big bonus.👌 I tried the earbuds and they have a nice WARM sound to them and are really COMFYY. The earpiece parts are metal on the outside which just made them seem really fancy and cool. They have nice clarity (maybe a smidge muddy on some of the lower-mids but that's likely due to my tapes being old). 🎵 All in all, thank for coming to my TedTalk today, you've been a great crowd and I hope you will buy this if you're looking for a wonderful cassette player. It works! I just copied three tapes onto the sd card and then transferred them to my computer. It was quick and easy. I was not able to copy them directly to the computer using Audacity. Most likely it was my problem, because I tend not to read all the instructions. I really liked the screen for the sd recording and the fact that I didn't need batteries, just plugged into an outlet using the usb cord. This was a little more expensive than the other converter I purchased last year, but considering that one stopped working I think it is worth the money. I like that I don't have to wear ear phones to listen to the tape. It makes it so much easier to hear the sound. If you are looking for a tape to digital converter, this is it.

Works for what it was advertised as, but the product is super confusing to use, took us 20-30 mins to figure out how to use it. The product manual was of no help, we needed to look at other reviews and ChatGPT to understand how to use it. Otherwise not a bad product, material is cheep, and honestly it could be priced cheaper.

Don't buy this! I need a cassette-to-digital tape player to preserve a beloved Wyndham Hill collection that was issued only once, and only in cassette format. I have struck out completely with Amazon purchases - all Chinese junk. The sound quality was terrible on the first two that I bought, but I kept trying and this was the last one. After hitting play I realized that too much time had elapsed without the music beginning, so I hit stop and opened it to find the tape all bunched up and shredded. If I'd thought about it when it happened I would have taken a photo of my mangled tape - too late.

I plugged it in, and the OS picked it up immediately—no fighting with drivers or weird workarounds. The audio signal is clean, too. You get that solid analog warmth without the digital hum or motor flutter that usually plagues the cheap stuff. The Breakdown Solid Build: It’s "small" but doesn't feel like a toy. The buttons have a real tactile click. Rock-Solid Playback: The motor speed is actually consistent. No dragging or "underwater" sounding audio here. Zero Friction: It’s basically plug-and-play. If you’re trying to digitize a whole library, this is easily the path of least resistance. Bottom Line It’s rare to find a modern tape player that actually delivers. Whether you’re hit with a wave of nostalgia or just mid-project trying to archive years of audio, the SM-I36 is a sleeper hit. It’s compact, reliable, and just gets the work done.

I was trying to sort through a hundred cassette tapes I had stored and moved with me for four decades. I tossed many that I knew I would no longer play or could access on spotify. But the ones that were recorded by myself or fsamily presented a different problem. I narrowed it down to ten, but as I was searching digitizing options online and the prices, I realized I had no idea if there was truly something worth saving on many of the tapoes as I no longer had anying to play them on. Looking at digitizing options, and remembering sending one a decade ago that cost me $35 to find out it was basically blank) I checked Amazon and found this cassette player at a great price! As an almost 80 year old I was grateful how easy and user friendly it was after adding the batteries and I spent an evening listening to my voice and those of family from 1982 with clarity! What a treasure. I may still opt to digitize some but now that choice is supported by knowing what the outcome will be. A great find for anyone with the same problem I had...What's on those old tapes? Now I wish I had come to this solution before tossing so many that may not have been blanks, but grateful to have again reduced the clutter for my family when I am gone and maybe only leave the few memories they might enjoy!

So far only used once. Used it to record an old cassette audiobook, but the cassettes had failed. The player is very straight-forward and easy to use. It recorded just fine onto the SD card, which is included. No issues. The price is also pretty good.

It's a basic unit with no outstanding features. It's designed for economy over durability. The design, ergonomics, and Instruction Manual could use improvement, although the instructions have a readable size font, unlike many instruction manuals that come with other electronic products. Here are "issues" I encountered: 1. The cover over the cassette tape is semi-transparent, but it's too dark to see if the tape is moving or how much is remaining on the spindle unless you sign a flashlight through it. 2. The Micro SD card is very tiny and hard to handle when removing it from this device to check it on a computer and verify the recordings actually exist. 3. On Page 17 of the Instructions, it states, "The Micro SD card can be connected to the computer with a data cable." However, there is no output jack such as a USB port to attach a data cable, only a power port. That either applies to a different model, or something is confusing! 4. The digital transfers of cassette recordings to the Micro SD card are saved as MP3. This is a compressed audio and when edited and saved again as an MP3 can cause loss of fidelity (sound quality). No other choices in file types are available. 5. The files saved to the Micro SD only show a sequential file number in the name, the type of file (all MP3), and the file size. No date information is provided, not even the date recorded. 6. Although the Micro SD was only about 5% full after transferring digitizing several cassettes, it got finicky and I had trouble getting the REC (record) to work. At first, it seemed the button had to be pushed just right, or it wouldn't work. With a built-in delay after pressing the "Play" button, this is awkward. Later I discovered the Micro SD card had to be taken out of the slot and reinserted to make it record again. 7. The buttons controlling the electronic functions are clustered in a small area at the lower right of the device. This requires small fingers and accurate touches to get them to operate properly. 8. Sometimes the auto-stop (at end of tape) worked and sometimes it didn't. 9. Some embedded screen shots in the Instructions are in Chinese. 10. An email was sent to an address included with the product concerning some of the issues I was having. That was two days ago; no response.

Compact, nice design, good quality sound, works with batteries or AC. I am content with this product, so far.

It’s awful. It kept eating my tape and I tried different batteries, or USB..the problem is clearly with the cassete player. The reels only spin for three seconds befors the sound distorted then faded altogether. The radio is the only thing working fine but it’s not what I got this for. I will return it and buy a different brand.
