Babas Meat Curry Powder, 8 Ounce

I read an article about Baba’s Meat Curry on Monday that peaked my interest and was delighted how quickly it was delivered. I tried it on lamb chops on Wednesday and was blown away by the flavor and how it enhanced the natural flavor of the lamb. Although I have dozens and dozens of dry seasonings and sauces, I can’t wait to try Baba’s again and plan on dry marinating a pork roast today and plan to roast it over charcoal on Sunday. Baba’s far exceeded my expectations and will become a regular ingredient in my cooking.

This Malaysian curry powder is my personal favorite. A little bit of this spice goes a long way and it is perfect with coconut cream or heavy cream and goes on pretty much any meat and vegetables. It is even great for a low carb diet because it doesn't have added sugar. I had to look really hard to find a curry spice that meet this criteria.... I am so grateful for Kelly Peterson's book, The Asian Low Carb Secret. This is where I learned about this curry powder and it is life changing. It is an amazing book containing a lot of Asian-Western fusion cuisine that uses this powder. Keep in mind that it still contains carb (mostly fiber), so you do have to watch how much you are consuming especially if you are strictly going <20g a day, or if you are counting total carbs. The low ratings were mostly due to the cost - but it is really unfair b/c this is a huge package and can make 30 to 40 servings of curry (with very, very generous portions). Sure this would have only costs $3 back in Malaysia but considering the cost of living differences and the Amazon convenience the price they are charging on Amazon is well worth it. There is a cheaper 3 package option on Amazon, but since I don't use it up that quickly and I don't like to use "old" spices, I still prefer to buy it one package at a time.

iDK why I like this brand but, it’s the easiest way to make curry when one doesn’t want to measure all the spices. 3 tablespoons, sautéed well with blended onions, garlic and ginger. Add a can of coconut milk, chicken (cuts of your choosing), potatoes. Cooked till all nice and tender- you have dinner !

I love this stuff, but you do have to be okay with a little heat

I've been using this curry powder for many years now for the earthy curry flavor. I usually buy my stash when I visit back home. Since I'm not traveling due to covid restrictions, it's been great to find this here. Felt it was too expensive though. Wonder if it was worth it.

To me this is the best brand for curry. I buy this brand all the time. You won’t regret it.
