Is this machine compatible with  psw delux software. if so, can we purchase the software separately?

Accepted Answer

The Singer model SE300 does not include the PSW Deluxe software.   This digitizing software is only available with the 340 version.  The Deluxe version of PSW is not available to purchase; however you can download the PSW Intro from SingerMySewNet after the log-in. https://singer.mysewnet.com/Account/Register .  The PSW Intro is a free download and a separate program.   It will allow you to change the format of a design.    It reads the following formats:  CHE, FHE, XXX, DST, TAP, EXP, JEF, SHV, PEC, PES, HUS, SEW, PCS AND VIP. It allows you to access designs from CD collections, internet, etc. and designs can be rotated, resized* and moved on computer screen.

Can you use any usb card or do you have  to buy a specific kind for designs?

The Singer Legacy SE300 Embroidery/Sewing machine doesn’t use a USB card; it uses a USB stick.  The Singer Legacy SE300 Embroidery/Sewing machine will include a small black USB stick with designs that then will go into the machine.  You can also use a generic USB stick for saving designs and transferring them to the Singer Legacy model SE300 Embroidery/Sewing machine.  We would recommend that you save only a few designs on the stick at one time; as you will have to scroll through them to locate you pattern.  The machine will not give you a preview, but only the name of the designs.  You can save designs in folders, which would help to categorize them.  The more designs on the stick the longer it will take to locate and upload a design to the machine.  There is a Free download of the PSW “Intro” from SingerMySewNet after the log-in. https://singer.mysewnet.com/Account/Register.  The “PSW Intro” software is Editing software, not Digitizing software and a separate program, designed to enhance your machine embroidery experience.

Question 3

Do you have to buy embroidery needles separately? I just got my machine and it does not appear to have any included.

Accepted Answer

The Singer SE340 Legacy Sewing and Embroidery Machine comes with a pack of needles in the accessory compartment located inside the removable sewing extension table (see page 7 in the instruction manual) with the other basic accessories.  However, using the correct needle for the fabric you are working with is very important.  It will impact the quality of your stitching, and can improve the capabilities of your sewing machine.  There are 2 basic categories of needles that can be used on a Singer embroidery/sewing machine.  Be sure also to use only Singer or Inspira brand needles with your machine.   Using another brand of needle that may be longer or shorter can cause tension and timing issues.    For woven fabric you can use either Chromium 2000 or all-purpose 2020.   For knit or stretch fabric use either Chromium 2001 or 2045 in appropriate sizes for the weight of the fabric.   We recommend changing the needle after every 5-6 designs or 8-10 hours of sewing.   An old or bent needle may nick the hook/race area or your bobbin case.  These nicks can cause uneven stitches or even cut the thread.  Make sure to insert the needle flat side facing to the back.

do you need the psw software to digitize . or can you download free downloads from internet onto usb stick supplied with machine

Yes, you can download free downloads(of machine embroidery designs) from internet onto the USB stick supplied with the  Singer Legacy model SE300 machine.  The PSW Intro software that is available as a Free download and useful to the Singer Legacy model SE300, is not a digitizing software, it is basically an Editing Software.  It is especially useful for the Singer Legacy model SE300 machine, to change the format of an existing machine embroidery design to XXX or DST; which are the only 2 formats this machine can read. The PSW Intro software can read CHE, FHE, XXX, DST, TAP, EXP, JEF, SHV, PEC, PES, HUS, SEW, PCS AND VIP.
