Product Description The third season of Denis Leary and Peter Tolan’s Emy® -nominated series examines the aftermath of devastating personal losses that the 62 Truck crew experienced at the end of the scorching second season. Tommy is trying to hold his life and team together while dealing with the devastating loss of his son. Franco studies for the lieutenant's exam while “Probie” contemplates the end of his probationary period and now both ponder leaving the house. Lou and Jerry each grapple with – or try to hide from – the financial crises they’re facing. And Sean has a good reason for trying to keep the identity of the new woman in his life a secret. They’re all falling apart in one way or another … can Tommy make the only family he has left come back together? desertcart.com In Rescue Me's most controversial season, Tommy Gavin's demons really turn up the heat on the seriously damaged New York firefighter. Glavin (Emmy-nominee Denis Leary in searing performances throughout) is wracked with grief over the tragic death of his son and struggles to deal with his estrangement from his wife, Janet (a superb Andrea Roth). In the season's most hotly debated episode, Tommy forces himself on Janet in, initially, non-consensual sex. Later, she takes up with Tommy's brother, Johnny (Dean Winters). By this time, devoted viewers, in the words of one character, know Tommy's every "grunt, tic and tell." But even his ghosts can only laugh at how low he sinks this season ("Next stop, China," Tommy ruefully replies). To get back at Janet and Johnny, he begins to date Angie (guest star Marisa Tomei), Johnny's ex-wife. He continually succumbs to his "basest levels," as when he has sex with the high school science teacher who is having an affair with his godson, Damian. But Tommy is able to show courageous restraint as in the intense scene in which when he is left alone to confront the prime suspect responsible for another tragic death in the family.Rescue Me's other flawed characters try to contain their own life crises. Chief Reilly (Jack McGee) is in desperate financial straits when the nursing home caring for his wife, who is suffering from Alzheimer's, raises its fees. Sheila (Callie Thorne) goes to her own shocking desperate measures to pursue Tommy. Tommy's father (venerable character actor Charles Durning) is becoming increasingly difficult to care for. Sean (Steven Pasquale) is secretly involved with Tommy's outrageously unstable sister, Maggie (Tatum O'Neal). Franco (Daniel Sujata) meets a "sugar momma" (Susan Sarandon) with devastating consequences. And "Probie" (Michael Lombardi) wrestles with his sexuality. Played mostly for comic relief is Teddy's (Lenny Clarke) stint in jail for the murder of the drunk driver who killed Tommy's son. This third season divided critics and viewers, but the uniformly excellent ensemble grounds even the most outrageous plot turns in reality. And it's a testament to the incisive writing and intimately observed performances that even when these characters behave most unsympathetically and invite the slings and arrows of "a little thing called karma," we are compelled to continue to take them into our homes and hearts. Or, as Tommy might say to that, "Blah, blah, blah." --Donald Liebenson Review: Rescue Me Season 3 - My son put me onto Rescue Me. Over the years, I have come to rely on his opinion of various TV shows, tuning in at his suggestion and finding, always, that I fell in love with all of the shows he recommends. Examples: The X Files, Battlestar Gallactica, The Unit, and now, RESCUE ME. I was never a particularly big fan of Denis Leary, although I loved him in "The Ref." This year for my birthday, I received from my son Rescue Me Seasons 1 and 2. Within just a few episodes, I was hooked! The show is incredible -- the plots, the actors, the acting. Denis Leary shows us a hero who has all the flaws (and then some) of every man and woman. He is surrounded by ugly, messy, hilarious extended family members and co-workers, and just when you think the writers can't come up with anything more implausible and delightful to watch, the show takes another turn. Through it all, Denis remains likeable, understandable, heroic, neurotic, funny, and I find myself always pulling for him, often in incredibly tragic circumstances. This show is more like "real life" (only funnier) than just about anything I've seen on T.V. I couldn't wait to get Season 3 from desertcart as soon as I finished the first two seasons. I have now finished Seasons 3 and 4 and am waiting to catch Season 5 when the CD is released and will catch original episodes when the series starts again. As usual, my son's recommendation was spot on. Trust me, whatever your age or sex, you're going to fall in love with RESCUE ME! Review: Best Original Show In The History Of Cable TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - I could give you a detailed synopsis of season 3 but the previous reviewer did a god job and there is no need to say it again. What I will say is if you are looking for a show that can make you cry, laugh, and feel fuzzy inside, all in one episode, then this is the show for you. In my opinion Rescue Me is the best original show I have ever seen on cable television, possibly all time. Rescue blows The Shield completely away. The actors in this show are phenominal, most are actors not seen anywhere else, but everyonce in a while a huge actor will make an appearance or two. But every actor plays their part exceptionally well. Dennis Leary is the star of the show and his acting is way beyond any expectations I ever had of him. As the previous review stated, this season does not having the shocking moments but it has just as much if not more intensity than the other two combined. This is by far the best show on TV!!!!!

Great Show, Great Audio/Video Quality
I watched the entire season on a Mitsubishi Diamond Series 65" DLP Rear Projection Television through the HDMI input off a PS3. I have a Denon AVR, Monitor R90 Speakers, and a velodyne SPL-8. The HD picture quality was superior as was the audio. It is totally worth paying extra to watch the Blu-Ray over the traditional DVD. I recommend making sure your brightness and contrast levels are set properly as not to washout colors. Also, turn your sub up a bit, it'll payoff during the action sequences. So far this show has produced 3 stellar seasons. I highly recommend Rescue Me for people who like drama mixed with clever and vulgar comedy. MUST HAVE for Dennis Leary fans.

Love this show
I love this show. But season 3 and 4 have still not been released in Europe. And it doesn't look likely this will happen any time soon. So when I read somewhere online reviews that this R1 dvd does play in R2 players I was so happy. The good news is ... it does. The bad news (for my deaf husband) is that there are no subtitles even though it says so in the description of the dvd. I was very pleased with the way Amazon handled it. But sad that I can not watch the show with my husband. Hopefully it will become available with subtitles soon. I adore the show! I love Dennis! One of the best shows around.

Rescue Me Season 3 Turns up the Heat
The third season of the critically acclaimed series starts right up after the second season's heart-breaking and shocking ending. Once again, Tommy is an emotional wreck, but he's not the only one. This season focuses on the troubles and tribulations of his entire dysfunctional family as well his fellow crew. One of the most interesting story line deals with Lou and his internal struggle after what happened to him in season 2. He is no longer the approachable nice guy that everyone can rely on. He's fighting with his problems and he's taking it out on everyone else. We also get to witness the money problem Chief Jerry faces with his physically deteriorating wife after the nursing home raises its rent. Overall, this season is yet another perfect blend of comedy, drama, black humor, and action-filled fires.

Enjoyable Madness
I am actually new to the show Rescue Me even though I was aware of the show. After checking out clips of the show on YouTube and reading comments about each season, I decided to follow my crush Daniel Sunjata and order the series. I am so glad I did. The entire cast is amazing, the acting is first rate and the mix of drama and comedy just keeps me coming back for more. I am mid-way through Season 3 and have a goal to finish all 6 seasons before the final season airs in July. Highly recommended!

Making a comment now would be too obvious for such a great tv serie. First three series keep you stuck on the chair and leave you tinking equally. The show will get weak around the 8th serie.

NY's 62 Truck Crew again - they married to their job, the firehouse their home, colleagues their family. The third season concentrates more on the team, volatile Tommy Gavin (Denis Leary) as ever centre stage. Death of son Connor has added to his troubles which now include an ailing father, Uncle Ted in prison for murder, brother John bedding his estranged wife, seriously scary sister Maggie, increasing pressure from the unstable widow of his best friend Jimmy (who continues to haunt). The cast is strong, making the most of the powerful script. "Retards" Sean and Mike are hilarious - the latter worried about his sexuality and discovering an affinity with Winnie the Pooh. Yes, lots of laughs. Tears too - some moments almost unbearably moving. Guest stars include Susan Saranden and Tatum O'Neal. Many bonuses (some very funny). Those on Disc 1 are best saved until last for they contain revelations about shocks in episode 11 and the season's finale. The viewer is hooked and swept along, not necessarily liking everything seen but emerging with greater understanding of NY's firefighters and the bond that unites.

It was a great price and came on time. The case was a bit roughed up but the discs played great.
