Among the 40 newbies vying to earn the coveted spots in the fourth season of House, M.D. are Dr. Lawrence Kutner (Kal Penn, the Harold & Kumar films), Dr. Chris Taub (Peter Jacobson, Transformers) and Dr., uh, Thirteen (Olivia Wilde, The O.C.). Taking a cue from Flavor Flav, House dubs the latter with that nickname simply because he can. Though frequently politically incorrect, House is almost always spot on when it comes to diagnosing rare diseases and ailments. His boss Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein) puts up with his unorthodox quirks, which include antagonizing patients, berating his colleagues, and being an overall pain in the butt, because he's brilliant. The addition of the new doctors adds a bit of chaos early on. But once the contingent is whittled away to the select few, the storylines grow stronger and the chemistry between the old and new cast members gels. Originally shown during the 2007-2008 television season, House aired only 16--rather than its usual 24--episodes, due to the Writers Guild strike. Though a bit of momentum is lost in the last third of the season, the writers do an admirable job of piecing together loose ends without sacrificing plot or structure. In a nice homage to the Prescription Passion, the General Hospital-esque soap opera he loves, House at one point is afflicted with amnesia. The humorous aspect of the story is offset by urgency as he tries to remember what needs to be done to save a patient. On a separate episode, House kidnaps the star of the daytime drama (played by Sex and the City hunk Jason Lewis) because he's convinced the actor is dying. The season finale is heartbreaking, as one of House's 40 candidates is in a life-and-death situation that even the good doctor may not be able to cure. --Jae-Ha Kim Review: Shorter, but I still want to give it 6 Stars! - A one-of-a-kind series, House, M.D.: Season 4 brings to the screen more everyday encounters of a team of doctors at the Diagnostics department of the Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital in New Jersey under the supervision of Dr. Gregory House. Hugh Laurie, Jennifer Morrison, Jesse Spencer, Omar Epps, Lisa Edelstein, Robert Sean Leonard, and the rest of this EXTRAORDINARY cast, have truly outdone themselves with their performances, which are outstanding to say the least. All the actors, without exceptions, give it their 100% and it really shows (the chemistry is AMAZING)! Very well written and very well presented, the series is without a doubt guaranteed to provide more than just a few thrills, not to mention a few laughs and tears. House, M.D. does a great job of describing people's different personalities, fears, and the problems they face. It is all about life, death, human relations, hope, pain, and inner strength. The acting, the setting, the plot (and subplots), the dialogues, and the music (!), which are just wonderful! It is indeed a rarity when an amazing series such as this comes by. Moreover, even though season 4 is shorter by eight episodes due to the writers' strike, you will not be disappointed in the least as far as quality is concerned. In short, House, M.D. is a series definitely worth watching and one to seriously consider adding to your movie collection (if you haven't done so already)! KEEP'EM COMING!!! Review: I think that season four turned out better than I anticipated it would - I think that season four turned out better than I anticipated it would. Instead of getting the team back together, the writers brought in a new team. There was an exhaustive process of elimination, of course. Not all forty were going to make it, so House had some fun at their expense as he fired the fellowships. If you've seen the first three seasons, you should be well accustomed to House's ways by now. The only thing that surprised us was his quasi treasure hunt for a particular article of clothing belonging to Dr. Lisa Cuddy. With so many new actors, the writers had to juggle a lot of characters. The number of fellowships was cut down pretty quickly after the first few episodes and allowed the writers to focus on a dozen or so characters. It didn't take all that long for House to come up with his diagnostics team. The three all seem well qualified and one of them seems full of mysteries.Although the writers did a nice job of giving small roles to several of the fellowships along the way, once the diagnostics team was finalized, the original team was rarely seen. They would pop in for a quick scene here and there, but they were never together. It made sense to showcase the new team, but I didn't think Chase and Cameron received very much screen time and character development. Over all I have loved the series and highly recommend it.

A True Original - This Will Change Who You Are
Without a doubt, the best medical drama ever on television, or even on film. It skillfully combines precision and unusual diagnostic medicine with the Human Equation. Other medical “shows” typically neglect the medical aspect, and focus on the soap opera love interests of the hospital staff; but House delivers Medical School level academics, along with the drama seen in only the best of literature - the unexpected, realistic, and non-linear events we all have in our lives, rather than the mundane writing of hacks who are pandering to what the TV executives think will sell the products of their advertisers. House is tantamount to The Sopranos, in its approach and methodology, and the true swings from the gritty to anguish and from transient humor back to despair, rarely - if ever - seen in the media, yet ever present in the daily reality of life. House makes the so-called “Reality Shows” look stupider and more contrived than they actually are. House hinges somewhere between a documentary and a true masterpiece of the art of film. This is not a “must see,’ or a “summer blockbuster,” but a treasure that will reside in the archives of the consciousness of all who embrace it.

A brilliant doctor with untraditional manners attempts to solve medical issues that baffles other medical experts in this interesting series. Several colorful characters and some interesting stories makes this quite entertaining.

Excellent season of an excellent show
Image and sound quality are excellent as usually with the "House M.D." seasons on DVD. Even though, due to the screenwriters strike, this package only contains 16 episondes as opposed to the usual 24, this still is a fantastic season. Lots of new faces this time (and many old ones) - and of course the usual quick wit. Look away for a second and you missed it. That's what DVD's are for - go back and watch again to catch the rapid fire wits of House, Cuddy and Wilson. Not to mention the new characters, all with their own agenda, to be reveiled piece by piece - keeping us guessing. The last two episodes of this season feel and look like one top notch high budget Hollywood movie and they are worth the price alone. Great bonus material as well. A must-have for fand of this great tv show.

One of my favorite TV series
Ended up getting a full boxed set of House M.D. shows. Not our ordinary tv medical soap opera. House is humorous, has some great music and subtle side references to music and books here and there if you can catch them. It’s also medically accurate so you can learn a few things if interested.
