Big emulation fan, trying to justify this purchase - besides Star Wars and Paperboy, what other games do you find yourself using this with?

There's plenty more to use it for. It works with shooter arcade games, all car racing games, pinball fx, amd other flight games besides star wars. This yoke is a beast! Heavy, well made, all metal, digital (no gears to break down) nice clicky buttons, 6 buttons total. Can be hooked up to original star wars arcade machine, Raspberry Pi, arcade1up star wars cabinet, or PC. It's future proof. Go for it!

Could anyone please tell me the size of the backing plate as I'm building a riser for my arcade machine control panel.

The backing plate is 11cm x 11cm

Purchased to use with a mame cabinet but can't get it working in games. it is recognized as a usb mouse device. how should mame be configured?

In the MAME config settings for each game, you may need to explicitly enable use of the mouse for input. (In MAME32 and MAME64 on PC you do this by right-clicking on the game and choosing Controller -> Properties.)
