Yes they are the thorny kind and are also self pollinating.

How long it will take from seed to fruit?

Mine never even sprouted. Had better luck with a store bought dragon fruit and I planted seeds fresh! Germination can take anywhere between 2-4 weeks sometimes even 8 weeks and can take up to 7 years to produce fruit. If you grow from a cutting you could have fruit within 6 months!
