Destiny: The Official Cookbook : Rosenthal, Victoria: desertcart.ae: Books Review: Bought this book for my Destiny-obsessed partner and was a little worried about the negative reviews; I cannot fathom how people got so upset over this book. The book assumes you are making many things from scratch just like you would if, you know, your whole city got attacked by Cabal and you had to rebuild from the ground up. There is even a recipe for making your own MARSHMALLOWS. As an avid housewife cook myself, I love the variety. Yes, some things are "common" dishes that many people already know how to make but there's usually some sort of twist that makes it more organic to Destiny lore. It's written from Eva Levante's perspective so it has adorable flavor texts for each recipe. The book is sectioned by "destination/time of year" rather than type of dish. The recipes are fairly unique in terms of style of cuisine, with every other destination being paired with an NPC or two whom one would associate with that destination and cuisine. For example, "EDZ: Trostland" has German and French based dishes like homemade Pretzels, Schnitzel, Potato Salad, Braised Red Cabbage and Apples, French Onion Soup, and a ham/gruyere sandwich based on Le Monarche. Le Monarche was the first recipe I made from the book and it turned out phenomenal; the recipe directed me to even make my own roux to form the sauce. The book itself is well-bound with a very sturdy hard cover with thick, glossy pages with the beautiful art of Destiny baked in (pun intended ;D). It also did include a code for the in-game emblem. Review: I gave this to my son as a Christmas gift. He loves it. Lots of recipes for both food and drink; he's looking forward to trying them. Nice illustrations throughout. I had to send the first one back as damaged, but the second copy arrived in good condition.
