Q: Are these pencils triangular?

Not a true triangle. The work better for the older kids, 2nd grade and up. It helped my child who had vulnerability in their wrist. It also helped while leaning cursive.

Q: What softness are these pencils? b? hb? 2b?

As a parent, I don't know the softness. I have written with the pencil and it writes the same as a number 2 pencil. I hope that helps.

Q: Can you use a regular hand held sharpener with these pencils?

It depends on the size of your pencil sharpener. This pencil does require a slightly larger sharpener than the average sized pencil.
