I have black hair and it works great for me

Perhaps it will "build up" if one applies too much or re-applies it. Not very much is required on my fine hair to give it a slight sheen and style. Rub a small blob the size of a green pea into the palms of your hands and rub it over your hair. It might be described as a 'lubricant' which my dry hair benefits from. There is NO build up on the scalp. Hope that helps.

Q: When you put it in your hair, how long does the shine last? Does it last longer than regular gel?

My daughter mainly uses this cream for easier combing of her long hair without an oily feeling.

Q: From 1-10 how well foes it hold your hair?

I bought this for my dad. He has used brylcrem for 60 years and is very satisfied. He gives a 6 for hold, and 10 for keeping his dry hair soft.
