Other collapsible Babinskis have cheap rubber and even cheaper collapsing mechanisms without a folding head. But this MDF model is backed by a fantastic warranty and is extremely sturdy. The fact that the head folds flat with the collapsing rod means you can store it like a pen. The extra weight is worth it for the reliability and not looking like a goober with a two foot stick poking out of your coat. Most importantly, the higher quality rubber causes the least amount of discomfort for the patient. The only caveat is that other doctors will try to steal it from you. But that's true for anything you carry that's under 2 lbs.
