Do the pieces actually stay in the case or do they fall out?

Hi, Yes, they do if you snap everything back in properly and firmly and open it up just like it's shown in the picture. But if you were to turn it upside down and open it from the other direction the sockets will come out so if you set it down correctly and open it with the sockets on the bottom side everything stays in place.

Can't find a damn tool kit on Amazon not made in China. It's how they keep the prices low but I'd rather support my own economy and pay a little more

Can individual pieces of the kit be ordered? I purchased a kit and have lost some pieces.

I don’t know if you can order individual pieces, ie sockets for this set. My advice would be to go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy the replacement items that you need. I can’t tell you how many 10mm sockets I have purchased over the years. It’s as if they have legs and just walk away! But seriously, that is what I would do.
