WORKS SURPRISINGLY WELL!!!
I was not expecting to like this mopping tool before I ordered it and when I opened the box I was sure it was going to be returned based purely on it's appearance. The thing is only 7"x7" and it looks too tiny to really do anything. I was however quite surprised on how well it works. We have 3 different types of flooring throughout our house consisting of vinyl sheet flooring, engineered hardwood and carpet. The kitchen (11"x16"), breakfast nook (11'x11') and all of the 2-1/2 bathrooms are vinyl. The entrance foyer (8'x18') is engineered hardwood. Before using the Braava in either of it's wet modes, it is recommended that you thoroughly vacuum or sweep the floor because the Braava is only made to mop floors, not to vacuum or sweep them. If you don't vacuum or sweep first, you will wind up pushing small debris around the room and creating a mess. The first test was to tackle the breakfast nook. I used the invisible wall mood to prevent Braava from going into the kitchen which adjourns the breakfast nook. Rather than having the Braava maneuver around the table and chair legs, I flipped the chairs over and put them on top of the table and pushed the table to the far end of the room. As the Braava did it's zig-zag pattern in the room, I re-positioned the table a few times to keep the table legs out of the path of the Braava. The breakfast nook is a perfectly square room and the Braava completed the task perfectly. The last thing it did was to go around the perimeter 0f the room to get all the edges. Our carpeted family room adjourns the breakfast nook on one side and the Braava did not go past the edging of the carpet. Job done perfectly!! The next task (after recharging) was the kitchen. Again, I set up the invisible wall to prevent Braava from going back into the breakfast nook. I was amazed as the Braava began it's job. It began going the length of the kitchen and when it got about 12' into the room it made a u-turn and came back to where it started. It continued the zig-zag overlapping pattern until it completed the first 12' of the room. It then traveled beyond the first 12' and began a zig-zag pattern in the opposite direction until it completed the entire floor. It then spent considerable time going in different directions until it eventually covered all of the edges of the kitchen. It was actually interesting to watch. When it was finished, I gave a close inspection and found that it had cleaned the floor as good or better that if I had done it by hand with a mop. I had intentionally let the floor get dirtier than I normally would knowing I was going to be testing the Braava and it passed the test with flying colors. As to exactly how it works, I think that the iRobot engineers put a lot of thought into the design of the tool. It uses warm water only and the cleaning agent is in the pad itself so I don't think there will be a clogging problem with the jet in the future because of residual cleaners. It uses so little water, I will probable use distilled water in the future to help prevent jet clogging down the road. The pad itself vibrates to help the cleaning action, similar to the action of a hand-held sander. With the wet mop pad on it, the Braava moves in a Y pattern much like you would do using a sponge mop or swiffer. When you put the damp mop pad on it, the Braava only goes forward and back and squirts less water on the floor. This is what I used in the foyer on the engineered wood flooring because I do not want too much water on the wood floor. The third choice of pad is the dusting pad that uses no water and causes the Braava to got in a continuous forward zig-zag motion. The Braava senses which pad you are using and operates accordingly. One of the things that surprised me was the size of the battery. When I unboxed the Braava and saw the battery, I thought that it was going to be the weak point of the tool. The instructions state that it must be charged for two hours before using and it probably took pretty close to that on the first charge. When it finished the first 11'x11' room, I put the battery back in the charger and it only took about 15 or 20 minutes for it to get back to full charge. The only caveat I would add to this review is that it works extremely well on smooth floors without high and low spots. I would imagine it will not do as well on heavily textured tile or stone floors especially if they have deep grout lines. I have seen other reviewers say this and I can fully understand why. My wife and I are both in our eighties and the Braava is definitely going to make our lives a lot easier.

LIFE CHANGING for people who are OCD about having clean floors (love it so much we bought two!)
This machine is the most amazing houseware I have ever purchased. I don't say that lightly. I originally bought this guy to wash the bathroom floor in between days when I steam mop it. I'm OBSESSIVE about keeping the grout in my master bathroom clean and the floor debris-free (plus I have a health care issue that sort of dictates that the bathroom be kept as clean and sterile as possible) and I really felt myself being pulled toward scrubbing the floor daily. That's not good for the bathroom or my back (I was born with Spina Bifida), so I thought I could get this little robot and have it wash the floor for me so I wouldn't feel like I needed to be scrubbing daily. The Braava works wonderfully. It's NOT a deep scrubber- it won't get your grout white after years of grime, and it's not going to take the place of a regular deep clean. It WILL clean all smooth surfaces (tile, laminate, vinyl, etc.) and it does pass over the grout enough times to moisten it and get up any debris. I run it twice with two re-useable/washable pads (order those separately, Roomba makes their own, but we do have third party ones that are fine, too). As far as tile, I rinse the re-useable pad and then before the machine runs, I spray a little puddle of anti-bacterial Windex or Scrubbing Bubbles on the floor in the robot's path, so the pad soaks up the cleaner as it goes by and then cleans the entire floor with it. You can run the robot in water-only mode, but I like using a cleaning agent. Here's a trick- if you are worried it's not hitting all the surfaces in your rooms, get a washable marker and leave little dots around the areas you want to make sure get hit. If the robot washes those areas, you'll know because the mark will be gone. If not, you can use the mobile phone app to instruct the robot to deep clean that specific area (plus the marker wipes up with a little bit of water). The surprising thing about this cleaner is something I didn't even consider when i bought it- dry cleaning mode. There are swiffer-esque pads available (disposable) and they get up EVERYTHING. Hair, fur, seed, dirt, sand, crumbs, dry cat food, etc. I wasn't expecting to use this machine in any other way except for the wet scrubbing mode in my bathroom, but I loved the dry sweep mode so much I bought a SECOND robot for our great room and I literally start it up in the morning with a dry sweeper pad on it and leave it running all day. It goes through the kitchen, entry and living room and whenever it cycles out, I just move it to a new area and restart it. I get several hours of cleaning from one battery charge. We have four cats, two birds, plus my thirteen year old and my husband (both who shed more hair than the cats it would seem, which kinda grosses me out...) so there's always something on the floor no matter how many times a day we vacuum and "zip up" with the stick vacs. So now we just have this guy running and even with us vacuuming daily, it still gets up enough stuff to gross me out and want several more of these, to run in little formation, all over my house. We also use it to clean the laminate floors- out of all the combinations we try the best is either using one of their disposable wet pads or using a dry re-usable wet pad and spraying a bunch of Bona on the floor in front of the unit when we start it. There *can* be a little streaking, but I am okay with that- I'd much rather have that than have gross sticky spots of that weird and disgusting oily/waxy bloom that we get with other cleaners. I have never had a product that I have found so useful and time saving and life enhancing like this one. If you're a clean floor freak, you HAVE to get this. Order a bunch of re-useable/rewashable wet pads and a bunch of the disposable dry sweeper ones. JUST GET THIS. (sorry for the all caps scream-y yelling thing, but I can't recommend this enough.)

MAJOR FLAW IN INSTRUCTIONS
Received the 240 Robot Mop yesterday, charged battery last night and tested it out today. First thing that caught my eye as I was reading the instructions was the step that showed filling the Robot Mop with tap water from the faucet. NO - just NO. All water from a faucet contain base minerals such as calcium and/or lime deposits. Normally there is just trace amounts that does not affect the drinkability of the water. (Except in my area where the calcium - not the good type but the type to cause kidney stones - exceeds the permitted level.) Even trace amounts of calcium and lime would accumulate in the device over even a short time and affect the operation of the machine. ALWAYS, always - use DISTILLED WATER in any electrical or electronic device. It's cheap and free of any chemicals that could ruin or clog up your piece of equipment. Folks, Distilled Water is not the same as purchased drinking water. If you read the label of purchased drinking water - it usually has additives in it. Distilled Water is plain, not enhanced in any way, water. The next glitch was when I was pouring the warmed up distilled water into the machine. Even tilted, only a couple of tablespoon went in before it over filled. That was a puzzle until I closed the lid to the water department and tried again. Sure enough - had a air bubble in the small section. Closing the lid popped the air bubble and I was able to completely fill the compartment (takes 1/2 cup which is not mentioned anywhere in instructions). Also, the unit ran out of water before the battery died. This was at around the 2 hour mark. Since I was keeping close watch on the machine, I stopped the machine and added just a little more water to the unit since I knew that the battery should be die any time soon. The battery lasted longer that I thought it would - almost 3 hours on Wet Mop. Finished the kitchen, dining room and entry way and almost all of a bathroom before the battery died. Another mild confusion is when I first set the unit down on the floor and hit the "Clean" button to start the unit cleaning. That's according to the instruction booklet picture. NOTHING HAPPENED! I was thinking about all the reviewers who had said that the brand new unit didn't work and wondered if I got a bad unit also. Then I reminded myself that with my Neato that one push to the "Home" button turns the device on but you have to push the button again to start the cleaning cycle. I pushed the "Clean" button again and the Robot Mop started mopping. I wonder how many people that returned the unit because it didn't work only pushed the "Clean" button once. If your looking for a logical pattern in the "Wet Mop" mode - there isn't one. It was kinda funny watching the little guy just go every which way. Sometimes covering areas several times but did clean the entire kitchen and dining room very well. It did lose it's little mind around the kitchen island. At one point toward the end, it started going around and around the kitchen island one way and turn around and went the other way on the same path around the kitchen island. I finally stopped it and put it on a path that covered the entry way area that is connected to the kitchen and off it went and cleaned that area. The entry way area does include steps down to the living room but the Robot Mop was a champ and cleaned up to the very edges but never took a dive off the landing. Summary or what the instructions should include but don't: 1 Carefully look over battery and machine and remove ALL packing materials including the very tiny white form pieces in the sides of the machine. Raise up the handle to see better. 2 Battery charges really quick but an extra one would be helpful. Exact replacement cost is $29.99. (Recommend that you go to the iRobot web site and register!) 3 Heat Distilled Water for around 30 seconds and pour 1/2 cup into the water container. Tilt the machine forward. If you have problems - close the lid and open to pop any bubble. (No problems with bubbles after the first time.) DO NOT pour boiling water into the device. WARM water only. If water is too hot for your finger, pour some more Distilled to cool it down. 4 Push "Clean" button once to turn on the device and then push the button AGAIN to start the cleaning process. While this machine is not a programmable one and must be manually taken to whatever area you want cleaned - it's still pretty nice. I was rather impressed with the job it did even when I had to redirect it away from the VERY clean area around the kitchen island. It's not perfect but it does the job good enough for me to be happy with it. If things change - I'll update my review.

Amazing little dude deserves 5 ⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
UPDATE- Sep 12, 2018 I liked it so much that I ordered another one for my cousin. However, when it arrived the battery did not last as long as mine. So we replaced the brava jet (all thanks to Amazon and it’s customer friendly policies). The replacement works just fine. Please note - if your battery doesn’t last 1 and a half hour or more, I think your device is faulty. Also, it should take around an hour for the battery to get charged - if it shows fully charged within 15-20 minutes, again it’s a problem. Time your device and see how long it runs. Ours run for more than 1.5 hours in one go. My cousin and her family love this guy as much as I do :) ———————————- This little thing is one of the best investments I have made. My life has become so easy with this coming in to our home. I have purchased the washable mop that can be used over time (not the disposal ones). First day when I put it on the floor, the mop was the dirtiest. Earlier I used to mop my floor once or twice a week but I didn’t expect it to be so dirty. After few days of using, the mop is getting less dirty but cleaning the floor like a pro. Here’s my observation: PROS: Portability- quite small and can get into tight places where otherwise it’s difficult to get into. Usability- simple and easy to use Reliable- it does what it says -MOPPING!! CONS: I wish it had a longer battery life. It still lasts few hours but I wanted more. The attachable mopping pad is expensive. I just hope it lasts long. In the advertisement, they have mentioned that it should be used in bathrooms or kitchen. I use it in my kitchen, and family room. I barricade the hallway so that the brava jet doesn’t enter the living room and it stays where I want to confine him to. I have no idea what other people have issues with this. I am in love with it. I put it on at night in the kitchen before we go to sleep and my husband charges the battery in the morning when he goes to gym. When he returns, he puts this on the job in our living area. We are in love with this device and are thinking of getting an additional battery so that we could use it for more than 2 places and do not have to wait to charge the battery. I think you should get give it a try and won’t be disappointed. Great great great little dude 👍👍👍👏

A huge disappointment
* I added a picture to show how filthy the wheels get. I was able to remove one wheel (not the other, since the cheap screw stripped so it can’t be removed). I removed one wheel and wet it, then rolled it back and forth on a white paper towel. The second picture is showing a trail of dirt left by the mop wheel — it’s a little hard to see given the color of the tile but in the middle of image you can see a sort of “dotted line” of grossness making a sort of broad “U” shape. A DISPOSABLE MOP HEAD IS POINTLESS is the *WHEELS THEMSELVES* accumulate dirt that the machine just ends up spreading around your floor. Given the color of my floor, the photographs I took of the parallel lines of grime that the Braava leaves behind are not visible on a camera phone picture, so that’s why I put it on a white paper towel to prove it. To be clear, I am the farthest thing from an OCD type... but I do expect a device the this to clean at least a little. UPDATE about three months later: IT GETS EVEN WORSE -- FAR, FAR WORSE. Disgusted, frustrated updates to the below that I didn't realize before: 1) The wheels have a sort of fabric / felt covering on them that can not be removed / washed. Therefore, they end up getting filthy (vs. the cleaning pads which can be tossed in the washing machine) and they end up CREATING A PATH OF DIRT wherever the wheels go. Hello? This grossness *completely undoes* the washing of the mop pad -- sure, the mop pad is nice and clean, but the wheels are filthy!?? 2) It TOTALLY will ride up on carpet. Be vigilant if you have a valuable rug that you don't want to get wet 3) THE WATER TANK IS NOT LARGE ENOUGH -- by this I mean, if the typical battery life is, say, let's call it one hour... well, the water tank only has enough capacity for about 20 minutes' worth of water. THEREFORE -- unilke the Roomba, which you can "Set and forget", if you set this stupid mop to run while you leave the house, when you come back, only half of your floor will be clean, since it ran out of water 30 minutes ago and is simply pushing around a damp / now mostly dry pad on the floor, which is not cleaning up diddly-squat. 4) Ok so this complaint is not new, but I still can't believe this: the robot is stupid. Not like my smart, awesome Roomba. This robot will seriously -- IN A RECTANGULAR ROOM -- that is, nothing tricky, no furniture in the way, etc -- just a simple rectangle -- this idiot robot will re-re-re-re-re-mop the same part over and over and over and over again, and then ignore the rest of the room? This company is lucky that I adore my Roomba so much -- I seriously can't believe that the same company that made my beloved Roomba also made this unintelligent, "water tank not large enough", "gets your rugs and carpets wet", "gets 'stuck' only cleaning one part of the floor over and over again" piece of JUNK. And since the wheels are now filthy, even with clean mopping pads each time, it doesn't matter, because now when the wheels get wet, they leave a TRAIL OF FILTH everywhere. iRobot -- guys. what were you thinking??? ----------------------------- Not only have I owned two Roomba vacuums in the past, I love the Roomba so much I’ve convinced several friends and family members to purchase one. So, what better excuse than a quarantine to let myself purchase the braava, a robot I’d had my eye on for a while? My biggest disappointment ISN’T that I can’t use my own “wood for good” cleaner (which I bulk bought tons of in the past), NOR that each pad is only good for cleaning about half a room before it needs to be replaced (buy the re-useable ones from third parties)... .... my biggest frustration is that this robot is stupid. Unlike my beloved Roomba, this little mechanical idiot will literally clean the same part of one room three, four times.... while COMPLETELY IGNORING the rest of the room. I know this for a fact, not only because I’ve sat and watched it out of the corner of my eye while doing something else (hey, it’s quarantine; what else have I got to do?), but also I’ve set out a few little “traps” (of either crumbs, or of puddles of cleaning solution) throughout my kitchen, just to verify that those areas are completely untouched. There is an island in my kitchen. This mechanical moron seems to end up going around and around and AROUND the island over and over again, while completely ignoring the other wall. I am driven to madness this morning; I’ve been watching this stupid thing out if the corner of my eye go for AN HOUR right now; by my count, it’s done the area around the island four or five times right now, but has completely ignored the opposite wall on the left. Yesterday, I set it to run on the same kitchen — starting it in a location on the opposite side of the room, and again, the same area would be gone over two, three times:.: while other parts would be untouched. Just a big let-down given how much I truly love my Roomba. UPDATE: decreasing from three to one star. My kid had a good idea — let’s see how well the Braava did by gently gliding the Swiffer Wet Jet over the floor, right after Braava has spent over an hour on it. To be clear, this was my KID using the swiffer, so it was not a thorough job, and in only about two minutes of swiffing, look at how filthy the pad is!!! (argh, I can't upload the picture, but imagine that you run your Braava over the floor, and then a SMALL CHILD pushes a swiffer mop over the same area, and the swiffer mop pad comes back almost BLACK with dirt?!?!?!) If it weren’t for the pain in the behind of doing returns during quarantine, I would return this. * I AM TRYING TO UPLOAD A PICTURE OF MY FILTHY SWIFFER, but it's not working? Booo...! Well, you can either trust me, or try it yourself! This device looks cute, but doesn't actually clean much! UGH.

Two Months Of Continuous Use And It's A Solid 3-Stars.
After two months of dedicated use, I think I'm finally qualified to give this a fair review. Just like with most domestic devices, this one takes a bit of getting used to. Like breaking in a coffee machine or a new skillet, it takes some messing with to really understand its particular quarks. And once you "get it," things become easier to work out. What I mean by that is, it took me a few tries to realize that the cleaning solution isn't always welcome. I noticed that using it on my hardwood floors left streaks. But using it in my bathrooms cleaned things up well. Also, on my hardwood, I reduce the water spray to its lowest setting to also limit streaks. On the bathroom floors, I turn it all the way up. It doesn't leave streaks in those places and it just goes to town. As far as cleaning goes, I'm not a dirty or junky person, but the machine wipes deeply enough, dry or wet, to always collect some amount of dirt. I always dry sweep the floors before wet mopping and it surely helps to develop that routine. When pouring in the water, I tilt the device forward in order to fill the whole reservoir. For the bathrooms, I pour in the suggested amount of cleaning fluid. For my hardwoods, I use none. There isn't much push to this thing, but it does get the dirt. No scrubbing and no power to speak of. This is sweeping at its most sweepy. I don't think I mind because, as I said, there is always evidence of its cleaning success left behind. I use disposable as well as all three of the reusable pads. I have only reused a used pad once, because in my opinion, it wasn't very dirty at all. But I do not recommend it. Once a week, I dedicate a cleaning day to the house, and I put all the robots to work. That's three bathrooms and one medium-sized hardwood floor for this Jet. After about 2 bathrooms, the battery is shot and I have to pause everything to recharge. So... The battery is abysmal. I went out and bought the Powtree 3.6V 6000mAh Replacement Li-ion Battery for iRobot Braava Jet as a backup. It is no longer the backup. Immediately, the new battery proved itself to be superior to the IROBOT batt in every way. Don't waste any time - bite the bullet and buy this battery if you're trying to clean more space that just a couple little bathrooms. It's at least triple the power of that little baby thing that came with the Jet. And also, with this device, you must detach the battery to charge it. When it comes to pad usability, I have every kind. I prefer the throwaways because you can see the dirt and know what kind of work the device has done and been doing. But because that's expensive, I lean harder on the keepers for obvious reasons. Most specifically, the Wolfish 6 Packs Washable Mopping Pads for iRobot Braava Jet. As a con, the dry pad is gray for some reason, and you won't know what kind of job the machine did afterwards when searching the pad for dirt. I guess that's no big deal, but the ability to confidence check is surely gone because of the color of the reusable dry pad. They all slide right on and can subsequently pop off just as easily with the flick of the release switch up top. These reusable pads do not detach from the card for easy washing machine cleaning. Some of the ones they have on the market do detach. I bought ones that didn't. It has not been a problem when cleaning - I just throw the whole things in the washer and let them get clean on a low setting. I don't put anything else in there with them. Between my main mop and this one, I could clean 6 pads in one load. Using the app is easy but can be inconvenient. You have to hit the button on the device to wake it up before the app can connect. You also have to name all your devices on the app for reasons. In my case, Alexa needs to know what to call them anyway, so I gave them unique names. I decided to name them after famous media housekeepers like Florence from the "Jeffersons," or "Mrs. Garrett" from "Diff'rent Strokes." This Jet is named Mr. Belvedere. Mr. Belvedere cannot talk to the phone app via wifi, so it has to connect using Bluetooth. You don't have to do anything special here, it will just connect. However, you must be close by. I cannot sit comfortably on the couch downstairs and use the app to tell Mr. Belvedere upstairs to start mopping like I do my M6 called Alice. So, stand near the device when using the app. The app can change various settings such as fluid spray power and it keeps you updated on the battery power. Using the invisible barrier is easy enough but not always reliable. The machine has forgotten about the barrier on every other occasion. To use the barrier, you hard press the button with the rear facing your "invisible barrier." When the two red lines ignite, you're good to go. If it remembers the barrier, that is. At all. Furthermore, the device has failed multiple times at recognizing rugs. I've re-entered a room only to see Mr. Belvedere clumsily fumbling around in the middle of my rug like it hit its head on a rock and wandered in a daze. It's a pathetic sight to behold, really. Go home, Mr. Belvedere - you're drunk! That's a solid...solid star lost. The fact is, once you figure out how to make it work, you can make it work. But unlike the M6, the Jet isn't as dependable. Mine has climbed on top of the rug, making me have to fold the rug every time I want the floor mopped. The battery is lousy and the learning curve is steep enough that you might mess up your hardwood floor if you don't figure out the learning curve quickly enough. It's a solid 3-star device and only has a positive rating because it's literally keeping me from having to do these floors myself. And that's what I'm talking about right there. Okay bye.

BEST Floor Cleaner EVER!
Best little floor cleaner EVER! Battery lasts 2+ hours. All my floors get cleaned on one charge. AMAZING!!! and It cleans great, better then I clean even. The ease of use is awesome!! The virtual wall feature, built in, (option to use or not use) keeps it in the room I want it to stay in. I love not having to touch the used cleaning pads after its done cleaning. Just push a button and in the trash they go. The pad choices available for different uses all work wonderfully. My lament floors, vinyl floors and tile floors are all nicely cleaned. The phone app is so easy and convenient. It shows when the battery is low, when the cleaning is done, if more water is needed, if the virtual wall is on and if the cleaning pad needs changed. It does not drop connection like other robot apps do. The Braava just needs to be turned on (it doesn't need to be cleaning) for the app to work. I have checked on it, while its cleaning, to make sure it's still working because it's so quiet, and yep, it's always still scrubbing away. So far, it has never gotten stuck anywhere. It doesn't stop cleaning until the floor is clean. If you have stuff on the floor that you would have to scrub off, like scuff marks, this may not clean that either, but hey, if you have to really scrub hard, no mop can do that . You can spray cleaner on the floor on stubborn stuff, and let it soak for a bit, in advance of using the Braava, and it usually gets it cleaned up. I love the fact that all I have to add is water. No chemical mixing and using certain cleaners. The pads have cleaner in them and they are cheap enough & comparable to Swiffer cleaning pads. I run the Braava twice a week, at least, and my floors are always sparkling clean. It's great!!! I wish my high priced robot vac worked as well at what its suppose to do as this Braava does at mopping. I will never have to mop a floor again! How great is that?!!! BTW I named mine Maggie and I am now in love with a robot mop!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Update: Bought 7 years ago and my "Maggie" is still going strong. I love this little mop. One of the best robot mops ever made!!! No problems at all.

The perfect robomop for a smaller home.
Our new-to-us home has beautiful white oak flooring throughout the 1080 square foot main level that is split into a living room, dining room, kitchen, two bedrooms, a bathroom, a hallway, and a cutout for stairs to the attic and basement. To keep the finish on our floors in good shape we knew we'd have to keep them clean so, as soon as we moved in, we bought a self-emptying Shark robovac (which is wonderful) and more recently purchased this Roomba Braava 240 robomop to keep the floors even cleaner. Our Braava 240 robomop has been great. Using nothing more than a freshly charged battery, water, and a reusable cleaning pad, our Braava robomop slowly and quietly cleans our largest room, our living room, on a single battery charge. When it's done it returns to (roughly) its starting position. It even does a great job on our kitchen floor. Our living room floor really needed cleaning the first time we ran the Braava. Along with the general dirt and dust our Shark Robovac doesn't suck up (no vacuume is perfect), there were spots where there had been small spills, and a small patch where an an oily, gummy substance must have arrived on the bottom of someone's shoe. Despite using nothing more than water and a reusable mopping pad, the Braava got everything, except the gummy spot, cleaned up and the floor looked great. Better yet, walking around barefoot, my wife and I could feel how much cleaner the floor was! If you're wondering about that gummy spot, I scraped it up with a fingernail, then used a paper towel, and a squirt of Simple Green to get rid of it. Our Braava also did a good job on the kitchen floor. I think, however, I'll try giving the cleaning pad a squirt or three of Simple Green to get it just a bit cleaner. The Braava 240 is a pretty simple-to-use tool. After vacuuming the floor, just grab the battery out of the wall charger (it takes about 2 hours to charge), out it in the robot, slide a cleaning pad in, fill the water tank through the port under the carry handle. With those preparations done, put the robot down in a corner or doorway into a room and press the power button a couple times. Cleanup is simple, too. Push the cleaning pad "eject" button, pull the battery out and put it in the charger, then drain any remaining water out. If you use reusable pads, like we do to reduce the amount of waste and chemicals we pump into our environment, rinse the cleaning pad off, then use a drop or two of dish soap and a scrub brush to gently agitate (not "scrub") the soap into the microfiber pad, rinse, repeat, and hang it up to dry. This robomop probably is nơt everyone's best mopping solution. Our small livingroom is right at the edge of the Braava 240's cleaning capacity so, if you have a larger home or want to mop several rooms at a time, you probably want to get one of Roomba's higher-end robomops. And this little mop doesn't have the smarts found on higher-end robomops. Basically, you plop the Braava 240 down on the floor facing into the room you want cleaned, push the single button on the top a couple times, and let it do its thing. There is no scheduling feature, no map of your floorplan, no electronic or magnetic barrier. However, for those who don't have larger floorplan and don't need a more autonomous robomop, the Braava 240 is quiet enough to run while you are sleeping and gets the floor clean. Now we've been using RoboMop (it has a name now) for a while, I'll add two things to my initial review, one good, one bad. On the plus side, we have a few spots in our floorplan our Shark robot vac can't get to. It's just too big to fit in the narrow spaces between some of the our furniture legs. (See picture.) I used to need to grab our regular vacuum to get those spots cleaned, but now RoboMop does them for me, and that is awesome! On the down side, RoboMop's virtual wall feature doesn't work well. If I point it into a room to and set the virtual wall, it inevitably loses track and wanders into the adjoining space after cleaning my target room, then parks itself in some random spot when the battery runs low. Today, after mopping the living room, that spot was under the dining room table. Note: We bought a used, returned-to-Amazon Roomba Braava 240 as an Amazon Warehouse deal. Other than coming with reusable, instead of disposable, cleaning pads, this "used - acceptable" condition purchase looked and runs as good as new. Pros: * Simple to use. * Quiet. * Does a good job of mopping the floor with nothing more than a reusable mop pad and some water. It actually uses less water than I would if I mopped the floor myself. * Works with environmentally friendly, reusable cleaning pads that seem to last a couple months or disposable ones that get tossed after a single cleaning run. * Leaves the floor damp, not wet, and it dries pretty quickly. * Perfect for cleaning rooms under 250 square feet. * Doesn't fall down stairs. * Stays off of most rugs. (Except really flat ones, see picture.) Cons: * No way to set up "invisible barriers" and the virtual wall feature didn't work for me. * No scheduling options. * Can't handle larger rooms. * No self-charging dock. * Stays off of most rugs and carpets with a raised edge . . . just not the thin, rubber-backed one we have leading up to our side-door. It got stuck there! (We are replacing the rug runner.)
