It is hard to say because it looked like a dead stick without leaves. Will have to reserve judgement to see if it actually bears leaves in the spring.

Still lustrous...
Regardless of this harsh summer heat and being transported from CA to MD, it is in good condition and the leaves still look lustrous. I hope it survive coming winter. Then it should be alright. I grew the same tree when I was in VA and it eventually produced so many fruits. I hope this tree will do the same. I will update next spring, but I think this species is very strong than I think. I will see...
