Quality parts - good valve
I got these for a rain barrel project and they have worked very well. I have experienced no leaking, and initial installation was pretty easy after I cut the tops off my rain barrels. The materials feel very high quality - there is no play, just a solid on/off function that has worked perfectly.

High quality materials
This is an excellent product. Very well made of durable materials and a breeze to install in the rainbarrel we have (removable top). This makes ir a lot easier to fill watering cans or rinse off shoes or your feet.

Genuinely good product.
This is a genuinely good product. It arrived with all the parts. Installation was simple. It doesn't leak. Top knob is a bit stiff, but not impossible. Background - 8 years I got a rain barrel kit that included a tap. Because of life, it took me this long to actually use it. Tap was useless - leaked everywhere. The reviewed product was the replacement. Reviewed product is awesome. Works perfectly.

So far no leaking on a 37 gallon, plastic stock tank - easy install
Due to frequent water outages, we decided to employ one of these <http://kkvet.com/items/detail/KCP19/?sort=0&itemListSearch=&viewct=50&cpid=212&cat_id=166&active=A&layout=1&clearance=N&spor=N&> covered stock tanks as a cistern to hold water for non-drinking purposes when the water is shut off. To make it easier to empty and clean the tank periodically, we added one of these spigots near the bottom. To ensure easy/correct installation I first drilled some holes using a spade bit (as I had no hole saws) into a sacrificial 5 gallon plastic bucket. I tried both the suggested 7/8 and a slightly smaller 13/16. I felt that the 7/8 was quite loose although it may have held water just fine. With the 13/16, I was able to easily thread the spigot into the plastic for a really secure feeling fit. With that experiment out of the way I drilled 13/16 into the stock tank which is supposed to have 1/4" thick walls. The spade bit did a more than adequate job and the spigot threaded right into place with a snug feel but no real resistance. I then tightened down the nut on the inside and found to my delight that I had a 1" socket that fit perfectly. So I only had to use an adjustable wrench on the outside to make the install permanent. I have since filled with water and watched for any leaks. Seeing none I will be placing an order for a second unit for my second tank. I love the 1/4 turn ball valve and how the design of the bend in the spout for the hose is not too radical - dead straight would have been perfect for my needs but this is close enough. Others have written that the threads are sharp and indeed they are. I think this was great for my needs but be careful while installing. This is all just done so cannot comment on durability over the longer haul. But I don't think it will be often used so there seems little likelihood it will fail in this lifetime. 2 years later - Worked so well got 2 more for use in a neighbors 50 gallon olive barrels being used for water storage. Also used 13/16 spade bit here w/out problems.

Nice Spigot
Nice quality spigot and reasonably priced. Very easy to install. Would buy another if needed. I used the Rain Pal for a 5 gallon bucket that I modified for use with mineral free water that i use for detailing.

Works great, you CAN install in plastic barrell without cutting top or using sealer.
Used for rain barrel, works GREAT. I was able to install into plastic barrel that has the two bung holes in the top WITHOUT cutting the top. (1) Make hole for this brass valve just above bottom where barrel side curves under, in line with bunghole in top. Make hole just barely large enough for brass male threads to start when applying pressure. I used a spade bit to make the hole. (2) Find an open-end wrench (or adjustable wrench) that will fit the nut for the inside-the-barrel threads AND that will fit through the bunghole above the valve - you will need it later. (3) With barrel upright, use string and small weight (a washer or nut), lower via the bunghole, pull string out thru the new drilled valve hole; a magnet will help. After string thru hole, remove weight and open brass valve and thread string through it in the direction of flow. Tie something on both ends of string to prevent pullout. Now, force-thread brass valve + outside gasket/washer into barrel and let it cut the threads in the plastic. Make it just barely hand tight. (4) Lay barrel on its side between sawhorses with string bunghole on top, brass valve on bottom. Slide the inside gasket/washer + nut down string to valve threads inside. Use a stick through the bottom bung to flip the washer and nut onto valve threads; then use stick to thread the nut onto the valve. An assistant with flashlight helps here. (5) Tape that open-end wrench that fits the inside nut securely to broomstick, slide it into bunghole and engage the nut. With separate wrench, tighten valve from outside until firm, gasket is seated and valve is in a straight down position.
