What’s the orange piece supposed to be?

It is a piece that LEGO is shipping with most of the bigger sets. It helps taking the pieces apart, especially the smaller pieces.

Do you need to order building floor separately?

Hi there! A baseplate isn't necessary for this set - as you'll see from the 360° view, one of the first parts of the build is creating a sturdy floor for the Great Hall. If you'd like to build on a baseplate, or create a landscape around the Hall, we have baseplates available in several different colors - 10700 Green, 10714 Blue, and 10701 Gray.
